I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I would not expect a book. It seems so out of touch with Axl's desire for (relative) privacy when he's not playing shows. And while I know Baz mentioned Axl having written a book, I felt Axl's comments in the chats back in 2008 suggested that it would be more along the lines of a comprehensive detailing of what Axl saw as the downfall of the "classic" band. I doubt it would be wise to release that in 2024.

He was probably wise to never release it at any time tbh, sometimes it's better to just not talk.

In other news, this site probably means nothing new. Maybe just some initiative over at LN to get personal sites for big name stars? Who knows, it certainly looks AI-driven so far.

  2. Just a bit of a longer break me thinks... it won't be over!

However, I can't say I'm not slightly worried about the state of Axl's voice when he returns. Long breaks aren't always good and this might be the worst it's been at the end of a run (understandably though - age, fatigue etc.)

If they return after a hiatus and/or a record I think it might be time to completely re-organize the set and how a guns show goes. This might be the last of the '3 hour mammoth sets' with a bunch of songs he can't really do anymore.

Same, venue swung it for me. Prices a bit lively for my liking....but as the venue looks great, I've paid it.

Doesn't seem to be the case in the UK- standing is just one area.

Yep, same here. I was hoping for £50ish (although to be fair they are only £60 before TM's extortionate fees)

These days the pull for seeing Slash is in these sorts of venues - Arenas are meh and I've got my fix of seeing Guns in bigger venues

  4. I have such a weird relationship with the Nu-Guns era. I'm fairly young and only properly discovered the band around '08 and the CD release - and I subsequently spent way too much time watching 06/07 stuff on YouTube.

Then the 09 tour came along and there was a lot of hype around that and the 2010 run (which was pretty bloody awesome from an Axl perspective), but that was about it really. It quickly fizzled out soon afterwards and by 2013 I was basically checked out with Nu-Guns.

The reunion has been fucking amazing. Sure it's been purely touring for the most part but being into Nu-Guns even for just a few years felt like some weird basement cult you weren't supposed to be a part of. The vibe at Guns shows now is really positive and overall it just feels like following a real band again - even if it's just a legacy one at this point.

The TLDR version of this: Nu-Guns was a thing but I've basically wiped my memory clean of it since April 1st 2016.

Wouldn’t make a difference, it’s the top hatted one and Axl that people associate with GnR. Not to mention if they did some sort of AFD reunion, Axl would really need to pull his shit together vocal wise.

personally I’d love to see it. Maybe like a 30 date run accross the USA. Do a Blu ray of it with a lot of behind the scenes stuff, then bundle it with the perfect crime doco.

slash said that the main reason he made contact with Axl pre reunion was to do with all the UYI footage, which should have been released with the box set IMO, so odds are that stuff is buried forever, I can’t imagine looking at that footage 30 years later would be easy for any of them.

    Where did slash say this?

Was a nightmare trying to buy anything at Saitama shows in 2017, think they sold out of most event tees and lithos by 1pm, people rocking up with suitcases :/ Managed to get a litho at the second show for ZoSoRose by turning up not long after noon, but still gutted I couldn't get a Godzilla tee.

Are you still looking for a godzilla tee?

Whilst I agree it's not ideal, I disagree that songs like Hard Skool and Perhaps are beneath them. Just because they weren't released on CD it doesn't make them b-sides. Anybody who thinks Axl believed Scraped and If The World were more worthy songs than Hard Skool and Perhaps clearly needs their ears testing! Even Absurd is better than half of CD imho.

I honestly believe Axl always wanted these songs released in some form. It's simply not true that Hard Skool and Perhaps are not up to scratch. You may not like the changes he made or the copy and paste job of inserting Slash and Duff over the original musicians, but as songs, they are definitely of GNR quality.

They're of CD quality, yeah, but something still sounds a bit unfinished about them to me. Absurd is actually maybe the most 'complete' sounding song - Hard Skool / Perhaps sound like they have the nucleus of a tune that wants expanding/reworking.

Atlas is probably the next 'most finished' tune but even that sounds like it could be extended in some fashion, to Catcher's sort of length with another verse or something.

Bottom line is we're only getting these because of the locker leaks - I truly believe we'd have heard nothing otherwise.

I don’t know if someone posted this, but the song is already on some Japanese website that sells music.

It can be seen in the Wayback Machine: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:https://ototoy.jp/_/default/p/1766070

And if you access the link now, it has a countdown that leads to a Friday release (8/18): https://ototoy.jp/_/default/p/1766070

    Also, HQ “artwork” here:

Yeah same. I didn't feel I missed out at all last year. Glad I bothered this year.

Not sure how I'd feel about seeing them again now, should they tour next year. It would be based nearly entirely on how they were playing and what they were playing (alongside price of course). Which is what I based going this time on.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. If it was another 2/3 years id consider going with similar setlists to 2023 tbh.

If you think about it these setlists are some of the most different we've had since the old days. So much of the newgnr era, and to a lesser extent early NITL, was AFD/CD heavy.

These UYI-filled shows are definitely something I feel less tired of - I never thought I'd be hearing songs like Bad Obsession/PTU and Down on the Farm live tbh!

Definitely the best tour since 16/17. Felt fresh and Axl was way more energized than in previous years. Of course a new song would've been nice and at every show there was a little bit of hope for perhaps to be played, but it doesn't take anything away of the awesomeness that had been the last couple weeks.

Pretty much this. Quite happy I didn't bother last year now, especially with how the UK shows went
