  1. I recently got Richard to answer a few questions. I've copied the whole Q&A from my forum, Appetite for Discussion:

Q: Congratulations on the kick-ass tour! What's your personal highlights so far?

Thanks, So far Moscow, Lima, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires have been stand-out cities for me. Amazing crowds and great shows.

Q: This was GNR's first concert in Peru, Equador, Panama, Uruguay and El Salvador. How has the response been from these "neglected" audiences?

It's very expensive and hard for a lot of bands to travel to those countries. It was a great opportunity for us to play there and the audiences were very responsive. They were incredibly energetic audiences and gave so much back to us. That type of reaction always makes for great shows.

Q: GNR seems to have a special bond with Brazil and the Brazilian fans, is this obvious from the concerts?

Absolutely, i don't know why, but all over South America, it was just crazy. The love and support we felt from the fans was pretty overwhelming.

Q: On the Asian "warm-up" concerts in 2009 the setlists were longer and contained songs that were not played in Canada and South America. Why was that?

The Asian ticket prices were higher and we felt they deserved more songs (just kidding). I think we were trying a lot of the new songs out to see how they felt to play them in front of an audience and also to see the response. I think some of the newer songs will re-appear on the next legs.[/b]

Q: How has DJ Ashba worked out and how has his entry in the band changed the dynamics of the live guitar playing?

DJ is working out great. He's a great guy and is very easy to get along with. He's brought so much to the live show and has been really well received by the audiences.

Q: With three extremely adept guitar players, how do you choose which ones get to play what parts of the songs? No fighting over who gets to play what? ;)

For the most part, we are playing the parts that were handed down to us from our predecessors. DJ is covering most of the parts that Robin used to cover, Ron is covering Bucket's parts (as well as the parts he did on the record), same with me.

Q: Are there any guitar parts that are more tricky or have required more care in getting right live?

Some of the new songs are pretty tricky. Scraped and Shacklers can be pretty tricky.

Q: Your James Bond theme solo has been very popular. Will you stick to it or choose another solo for the coming European leg?

I'll probably stick to it for Europe, as I don't know that we will have much time to rehearse before the next run.

Q: Who chooses which songs are played at each concert?

Axl usually calls the songs, however, he is open for suggestions.

Q: At rehearsals, sound checks, and general jamming in-between concerts, do you have any songs you usually play but that is never played in the concerts?

    Rhiad.

Q: Any concerts on the European leg that you look especially forward to?

    Rome and Zagreb.

Q: Do you know the opener bands for the European concerts?

    Not yet.

Q: Do you know if the European leg will be followed by more concerts somewhere else, or does this tour end in Europe?

This tour is far from over!

Q: When touring with GNR, do you put everything else on hold or are you able to keep up with all your other projects?

I go to a lot of museums and I run every day, which is a great way to see a city. That's my favorite part of touring, being able to get out and run for 10-20 k in a new city

Q: Can you tell us a little bit of any new projects you are involved with (collaborations, guest appearances, other concerts, etc).?

There is a band called Saivu from Norway whose album i played on. I'll be playing with them at a festival in Norway in July. I recently wrote some songs with Michael Monroe for his new record. I also worked a lot on Dizzy's new record. I hope that comes out soon, there is a lot of really amazing stuff on it. Fantastic songs and his voice sounds great. I'm also working on a new video game score and some other tv catalogs.

Q: Have you discovered any new bands or artists lately that you want to tip us about?

That Norwegian band, Saivu has some great songs and I'm really proud of what i did on the record. I have been listening to

    NASA

    Sleigh Bells

    Broken Bells

    The XX

    LCD Soundsystem

    Caribou

    Wolf Parade

    The National

    HECK YES! rock1 rock3

  2. same im waiting on a Nottingham date, i live here, ust 25 minutes walk from the arena, for them to play in my own back garden would be ace! :D

But least i've still got leeds fest to look forward to

Exactly the same here Buddy. Any tips on the festival? Like are Camera's allowed? if not how could i sneak one in? never been to a concert before so im a little Unknowlegable :P

Well ive never been to a fetival before, so i dont know if they're different or not. Usually at normal concerts, big ass cameras aren't allowed in, but it is possible to somehow, jsut hide it on your person somehow. A small camera shouldnt cause any problems, or if you've got a good camera on your mobile phone, like me, then that'll be okay, obviously

What megapixel Camera u got on your phone?

  4. Nicceee but Doesnt this Look slightly worrying for people who have bought tickets to shows which have been confirmed by the promoter but arent on this list...?

And Add Some UK DATES!!!, Nottingham would be rather nice, as a few others round here would be going :xmasssanta:

  5. IF they put out a new album which songs do you think will be on it. do you think their will be songs we have heard of, i.e. oh my god, the general etc.. or do you think they will release songs we have not yet heard of that they have in their vault.

You're assuming that The General is Checkmate, right?

Didn't Axl pretty much confirm that in the chat threads?

    No.

Well. I think the next album is from the Chinese Democracy Seasons and it's not the same one Dizzy and Dj were talking about, the onew they were talking is the following one.

This. I Beleive Axl has the follow up to CD done, he said it was gonna be a double album anyway. And yeah the one Dj n Dizzy are on about i think will be a later release with all new written material by this band. This makes me think Djs in this for the long run

  6. I'm starting to think I made a big mistake by not buying a Reading/Leeds ticket.

    Patience my friend. Patience.

Besides I checked about two weeks back and you could still buy day tickets on ebay for like £70/80. My guess is if they're planning on doing 27/29 August for Reading and Leeds and Dublin on Sept 1st they'll have a few more english dates (Glasgow, Machester, London at the very least) in the week before the festival dates or the week following Dublin. Wanna check the dates of other gigs though to see if they'll squeeze us in

Yehhh, im going to leeds anyway but i want to go to an arena gig too. i have a feeling they'll announce a few english dates before reading/leeds, and that will be the start of the 2nd Europe Leg.

I swear there was a quote from Ashba saying they will do the second leg and then do a UK tour then Australia and then the USA next year but who knows.

Yehh i read that over at newgnr.com, sounds promising if we get a full UK tour. :xmasssanta:

  8. Their only UK show this year

    -- Download Festival 2006

    Just sayin' is all.

Yhhh i mentioned that earlier, but someone claimed the download one said only festival and the reading one said only appearance, but you've proved them wrong.

Although ill be at Leeds, i really want to see them more than once, and hopefuly at an arena gig.

  9. Does look like it. If you look at another headliner's profile, Blink 182:

The wait is over with the announcement that BLINK-182 will play their exclusive UK Festival Appearance and only English shows in 2010 by headlining Reading Festival.

Does read totally differently so thinking that no UK shows is pretty likely. :-(

Im Still Unsure. I Dont See why theyd Only do One Festival appearance, unless they return next year.

Im Going To Leeds Anyway, but Still, I want an Arena show. :D

But Im not sure why they wouldnt do a UK tour. or at least a few shows, in 06 they Played a lot of shows in England.

  10. A Norwegian news channel talked to Dj Ashba while he got a new tatoo in Oslo. Here's a quote (translated to Norwegian first be the reporter):

    – Vi har gjort Sør-Amerika, Asia, Sentral Amerika, Europa, og så er det Australia, tror jeg, og USA. Det har vært morsomt.

    This should translate to:

    - We have done [toured] South-America. Central America, Europe, and then it is Australia, I think, and USA. It's been fun.

In other words, Dj implies that the European tour will be followed be concerts in Australia and US.

I've listened to the original footage and what he says is:

"Now Europe, and then we do the UK, Australia - I believe we do the Australia, not sure yet - and then the States."

    Here is the footage:

    http://www.tv2underholdning.no/gkn/her-faar-guns-nroses-tatovering-i-oslo-3220972.html

Does that mean a full UK tour will come after the Europe tour, or is he just saying that theyre coming to UK during the Europe tour?

  11. Okay I can see what people are saying about English dates but when the Reading and Leeds dates were announced it was made clear that those are their only English dates this year so I don't know why people are getting their hopes up as it probably won't happen.

Nahh. They were probably just exaggerating when they said that, they probably meant Only festival. someone said a while back that apparently in 06, download's website said that it was gnrs only uk appearance in 06, and look what ahppened there, so dont believe it yet.

  12. I see the most likely time for England Arena dates as being Before reading, so the 2nd leg would sart in the UK round mid august, do some Arena dates, then play Reading/leeds, then Ireland then hop over to mainland Europe., dont you guys think this will happen? seems the most likely, i cant see them only doing reading tbh. Just need to wait for Promoters to give info, i mean the Ireland shows were only announced yesterday.

  13. I just so want to hear some sort of recording of TWAT from that Hamilton show so badly, im not bothered about the whole show, i think we should do a forum internet search for TWAT at hamilton

    And, Im gonna say

    Maddy

    Better

    Patience

    Paradise

  14. I think I'd be satisfied if I heard either of the following songs on this leg:

    Down on the Farm

    Scraped

    Prostitute

    TWAT

    Catcher in the Rye

    You're Crazy (acoustic)

    Shackler's Revenge

I Think the most likely out of them Is Shacklers. Then Maybe Scraped.

But For me i would most like to hear prostitute. I think it sounded good in Asia, and if Axl played it once or twice In Canada, he would of nailed it, i still dont understand why, the only show we get pretty much no audio/video, they Play FRICKIN TWAT

I don't expect we'll ever hear Prostitute live again. It's like Coma or Estranged. Too many changes vocally and musically. You're Crazy (Acoustic) is a "secret show" performance. I wouldn't expect too many acoustic performances on the main stage.

I Still Dunno, Axl Seems to struggle more with TWAT than prostiute imo, prostitute sounded good in asia, and this is when axls vocals were a lil shaky, trust me, If he'd of played it in Canada, maybe Toronto, he'd of nailed it, i know it!

Prostitute was horrible judging from the recordings.

On the other hand, he fucking nailed TWAT in Hamilton.

Im Sure He Did, but why are there NO FUCKIN RECORDINGS? Its so annoying, cos this is the time where his voice was the best this tour IMO, and like the only Canada show we get no Audio Download, theres even no youtube video, does anyone know of or have any sort of recording?
