  1. If you guys have no hope in this band then why do you continue to come to a forum dedicated to them? Do you just like to cupcake? It honestly makes no sense. We know you're bitter about a reunion never happening but why not just discuss that in the Original Guns section? It's okay to say you disagree with me about them putting out one of the greatest albums, but to relentlessly bash them and call them a joke just doesn't make any sense. If you hate them so much then stop posting in a forum that supports them.

Fuck off cupcake. Just because people say no to your stupid question doesn't necessarily mean that we are against the current line up. Are really that stupid? Fuck off again.

I'm very civil in my discussions about this band. Look at my other posts. I understand people have different tastes. I'm definitely not a cupcake. And I clearly said in the post you quoted that it's okay to disagree with me. Learn to read my friend.

  3. Yes, I personally believe Chinese Democracy is one of the greatest albums of all time, as are AFD and the UYI albums. But Chinese is not considered one of the greatest albums. But think about it. We'll start with the three guitarists.

DJ - He's in touch with mainstream rock fans and hopefully will just make some of the songs radio friendly enough (meaning capable of being hits on the radio) to make the album a success in everybody's eyes, not just the eyes of us hardcore fans. Believe me, I don't want Guns to play generic rock, but DJ might just have that tiny, special touch to make a super catchy hook.

Ron - The man is a genius. I personally love his solo material and I can't wait to see what he brings to the table with Guns. He'll provide amazing guitar work and will give the album a technically outstanding sound. Not to mention killer back up vocals (as hopefully Axl won't be the only one providing them.) I also hope Ron will write some lyrics because I think he can write some great ones. It'd even be cool to see him and Tommy have lead vocals on some songs in the future.

Richard - Even the haters of the current line-up can't seem to hate this guy. He's a rocker. His new solo shows us all what he can do. That riff is huge and it gets stuck in my head pretty often. I think he's gonna be able to write some other huge riffs and make the songs (excuse this overused word) epic.

Tommy - This guy is a true punk rocker. He's made some great albums in his past and I'm sure his future will hold even better ones. He'll provide that punk feel that Duff used to bring. I just hope his bass will be louder in the mix. Very talented player, Mr. Stinson is.

Frank - I don't know much about drummers, but I love Frank. He has a great groove and I love his drums during Brownstown, Rocket Queen, Richard's solo, and Ron's solo just to name a few. I hope he'll bring some awesome groove to the new album and give all those drummer geeks something to love GN'R for. :P

Dizzy - He's a great player in my opinion. I've always enjoyed his keyboards in big songs like Civil War and I'm sure he won't disappoint.

Chris - Chris is the strange side of Guns. He gives us synth and other unconventional sounds. I really like the guy and I like the electronic feel he brings. Hopefully a few new songs will have a lot of Chris on them and have a huge house vibe, while hopefully most of them will just have enough Chris to make them edgy and awesome.

And finally, we have Axl - In my opinion, the greatest rock singer of all time. He's got the voice, the emotion, the lyrics, and the creativity. We all know he can write some of the best songs ever. Just look at Guns catalogue. He's the key player in this band. There will never, ever be another W. Axl Rose.

  4. What the fuck happened? I wanted to buy this thing and enjoy the show and I can't understand whatever you guys are saying about the livestream. Someone needs to confirm this nowwwwwwww...

Not to make assumptions, but I always got the impression that you disliked the current line-up, so why did you buy the live stream? Or have my lurking skills failed me?

  5. I'd book GnR for a private party if I ever won the Pwerball or Mega Millions. Semi- acoustic set including Catcher, One In A Million, and Yesterdays.

Same here. I don't know if I'd have them do the whole production or just acoustic though. But I would definitely hire a camera crew to professionally film it. Then give copies out to all you jerks! :P

  6. Tommy - He seems to have appointed himself the second in command after Axl and I don't like it.

Well, Axl did name him The General. Apparently Tommy's in charge of leading the rehearsals and what not. So I honestly don't think he appointed himself as second in command. And I've never witnessed him being a jerk at concerts. He seemed really friendly towards me whenever I called his name and took his picture. The guy is also hilarious on stage. I like Tommy a lot.

  7. The only ones I really dislike are Finch and Dizzy. I don't like any of them, except from maybe Fortus, which I think is cool enough, but I just don't care about them and I think they're quite boring live. People say they're so fantastic live, but they really aren't. Axl is an fantastic performer and they're playing a great catalogue of songs written by another band, but to be honest, they don't play them that well. They don't have any of the attitude and energy put into it. Some of them don't even have a decent tone on their guitars. The drummer misses to catch the right groove and there's so much shit going on at the same time that you can barely hear Tommy's bass, so I can't judge that.

None of them in the current band, except from Ashba and Fortus has got any charisma or stage presence at all. They're just really boring live, even if they can play it all note for note, it just doesn't sound right when they do it.

Have you seen them live my friend? Because they're a blast. Each and every one of them has great stage presence. And their playing is nearly flawless. I know you're a reunionist and everything (and you have every right to want what you want) but you can't say they don't play well. They're one of the most solid bands out there.

    Twice.

It was good concerts, but if we put it into some perspective, it wasn't that good. Not if you compare to how the real band played the songs. They put into so much more soul, energy and attitude into the music. Don't misunderstand me, I was really enjoying the concerts, but they just missed something, in my opinion.

Like I said, they can play it all note by note and it still doesn't sound nearly as good as when real GNR played it. They don't have the energy and attitude to pull off the AFD songs. Someone like Bumblefoot can play it all great, note by note, but he's got an awful tone on his guitar. Listen to the difference in the drums on songs like Mr Brownstone and You Could Be Mine.

There are lots of other examples that could be made, but there's some of them.

I just have to disagree with you man. I honestly think this band is light years ahead of the original line-up. And trust me, I LOVE the old music and the original members. It's what got me into GN'R. But I guess we'll never agree on the current line-up. Which is totally fine! You have your preference and I have mine. No need to mindlessly argue forever like some people on here!

  9. I think people on various GNR boards are too close to it all to have been truly blown away. We're the fans that followed the project for 10 years, heard all the leaks and bootlegs from 2001 on, and were well acquainted with the material when it finally officially came out. The "radical" sound is more of a reality to people who had never heard any of the leaks or watched any performances over the past decade. To those people, it was a departure with some familiarity. Long time fans who followed what was going on had spoiled themselves years before the album ever came out. They were used to the sounds and directions Axl went. The impact of the record was pretty blunted on those people compared to people who were hearing TWAT, Catcher, and Madagascar for the very first time.

That's why I'm so excited for the next album. We've had no extensive leaks so we really have no idea what it's gonna sound like. Yeah, we've heard a few seconds of the alleged Jackie Chan and the mysterious Blood in the Water, but that's hardly a drop in the bucket. I think we're in for a really awesome surprise when the next album drops.

  10. it's time for a chris pitman solo spot already. he would rape those synths making the arena explode in awe. i'm not kidding, i love synths.

I agree. I'd like to see him have a solo spot, even if it's just for one night. I was listening to some of Chris' solo efforts the other day (SexTapes, Lusk, etc.) and it's some pretty tight stuff. I think he definitely brings out the weird/unconventional creative side of Axl. Because Mother Goose is by no means ordinary. :D

  11. Hahaha! Bumble not long for this band by the looks of it! At least he has the balls to speak up anyway! :)

He has had one foot out the door for ages, you can feel it in interviews, some little snide comments and a general vibe.

Honestly, I think that's just Ron's overall attitude, not his attitude toward being in Guns. He jokes a lot and is very sarcastic. I'm sure other big Bumble fans like Glow could vouch for me on this one.

  12. I'm 19 and started listening to Guns about four years ago. Believe it or not, I started listening to GN'R because they came to me in a dream. They were playing Welcome to the Jungle (only Axl and Slash though, as they were the only members I was somewhat familiar with) and so the next day I looked them up. After I found out Axl and Izzy were from the same state as me, I knew why I fell in love with the band. I just connect with the music. I love it.

  13. HELLO THERE AND WELCOME.

SO, 4TH TIME SEEING AXL........TWICE IN THE HOLY GRAIL THAT WAS 2010......AND?.........THAT SHOW DOMINATED BOTH OF THEM.

Unbelievable show, I knew which song would be followed by which, but simply didn't care....

The fact of the matter is......THE BAND I LOVE WAS NO LESS THAN 5 FEET AWAY FROM ME.

So all you complaining twats, why bother? I WAS THERE.......YOU WERN'T.....NANANANANANA!!!!

    Fucking insane.

Axl sounded tank, the p.a had his voice coming out of these lone speakers at the front, aswell as through the standard mix, he was so fucking loud!

Thus I heard every aspect about his voice, his "mickey" voice produced a thin layer of rasp that i've never heard before, and I fucking loved it. Axl never stopped smiling.

Out of the rest of the band, Richard Fortus takes the prize, the guy just never stops.

Anyway, the show was phenomial, better sound than 2010, tighter than 2010.....

This band is evolving.....and if you don't like it.....DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND JUST *It's so easy voice* FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!

Sounds awesome man! I'm glad you had a great time.

  14. Listen to their playing - this is what music should be about. And he doesnt fake personality like a lot of people do, he doesnt lie to look cool, etc. He is a great and intelligent guy, gives people a lot of very cool advices, help people that need help, donate to charities and all of that. He is what people should be looking at - a fkn great guy that acts like how all human beings should be acting. If you instead want to look at a guy's persona or wants him to look cool, Im sorry, but this is so boring and generic. Rock isnt about being badass or acting cool - this is generic and boring. Rock is about expressing yourself the way you want and not giving a fuck about people saying that someone is too nice or generic. Better yet - life is about this. Be true to yourself, be nice and nice things are awaiting for you. He is not 'Bumblefoot', he is Ron Thal whether he is on stage or with his family. He plays the same way when playing live in front of 100.000 people and when playing in his own studio. This is how he is, this is how we should all be. Forget this badass looking image, rock was never image driven (apart from hair metal or glam rock bands). Rock is about playing, performing, entertaining the crowd. Personas are optional - integrity, being true to himself isnt - or shouldnt at least.

    This.

  15. No other album sounds like it. It's in a genre of its own. And I love all of it. The riff on Chinese Democracy is one of the most powerful and awesome riffs I've heard. Definitely up there with WTTJ and SCOM. I just love how progressive the album is. It's way ahead of its time, which might explain why it wasn't an instant hit. I love how it's sophisticated but still brutal. And I feel like the next album is gonna be just as amazing, if not better. If that's even possible.

  16. I just listened to both versions back to back with headphones. The demo definitely has some cool parts. I like how the funky-ish sound (similar to the sound in If The Workd) before the first "nah nah nah"s is turned up. You can still hear it in the studio version too, just not as loud. While the short outro solo on the demo is great, I agree that Ron's outro solo is just incredible. The main solo too. It's fantastic. I'm really excited to hear some new music.

  17. I personally love Ron's solo more. It's one of my favorite solos on the whole album. Brian May's take on it is still great though. I just happen to live the studio version more.
