  1. You know how at one of the Brazil concerts last year the fans unfolded a huge Brazilian flag? And Ron and some other members said it was one of the most rewarding things they had ever seen from the stage? Let's make a bigger and better one of the U.S. flag! Would anybody

    want to help with that?

Wonderful idea! I can't join but you guys should make this

    happen!

Thanks! I just need to find some people to help me. Does anybody know how much it might cost? I want the band to know their home country loves them the most and that we're proud of them. :)

  3. I honestly loved the show. I've been waiting to watch it live since it was announced it would be streamed through youtube. Yeah, I was hoping for a new song. But we got Estranged! One of the greatest songs ever.

And we all know Axl is his own biggest critic. So lay off the guy. He does what he wants and anything you say won't change that. If he doesn't want to rehearse in between tours then he's not going to. Haven't you learned that within the past 25 years? Oh well. Like I said, I loved the show. And I can't wait to see Guns N' Roses in Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati!!! :)

  4. I'll be there. I'm really glad they're having a concert here. I'm also going to try to go to Chicago, Detroit, and Cincinnati. Then I'll have gone to five Guns N' Roses concerts! Oh yeah! rock2

  5. I'm really going to miss this place. I may not be the most active poster, but this is the best Guns N' Roses forum out there.

Hopefully we can somehow find a way to save it. So much has happened on here.

Guns N' Roses and this site is like therapy to me. Whenever I'm feeling down, I just get on mygnr to see if there's any updates.

We might be able to save this place, but if not then it's been a great time.

What forum will the majority of mygnr members go to now? Let me know so I can join. The people on here are great.

I'm not giving up on this forum yet though. Let's pull together and save this place.

  6. You, my friend, have excellent taste in film. haha

I'm going to watch Jackie Brown by Tarantino sometime this weekend.

If you're a movie lover then you should look into Netflix if you haven't already. It's one of the best deals out there. I love it.

  7. I'm in the mood for being john malkovich

I watched that a few weeks ago. One of the most original films I've ever seen. Very good film.

    Se7en was great. Loved it.

David Fincher is a genius. And even though Se7en was one of his first films, you can still see and feel his incredible direction.

  8. to bad DJ is the least reliable member of the band (along with axl).

when i hear it from bumblefoot then i'll really start celebrating.

C'mon. That's a bit unfair. Dj is just a bit over enthusiastic. He's not talking out of his ass. He just seems to be a bit incapable in terms of differentiating between provisional plans/intentions and concrete plans.

Bumblefoot has been talking about sidelining his own musical exploits for a while now (because of GN'R still being on the road). Anyone who knows Ron's work ethic knows he doesn't sideline his music for any old thing. So clearly Guns N' Roses is not by any means finished with touring.

He's right. Ron is a very busy man and always likes to get things done. He wouldn't be sidelining his own plans if it wasn't for something related to Guns N' Roses.

I can't wait to see these guys again!

  9. Plenty of new bands list the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Metallica as one of their influences or even their among main influences...How many have listed GN'R?

None that i know, but GNR didn't create something new, they we're just the perfect mix of influences.

I believe they created something new.

And even if some of you deny that, you have to admit that they're creating something new with their latest music. Chinese Democracy is only the beginning.

  10. In another thread I suggested the Stones have three guitarists, but I have to be honest:

In the case of GN'R, I think having three guitarists and two keyboardists really clutters the sound live. It never allows for just one lead guitarist to really shine live, and in the studio well it's 5 guitar players which makes the sound in the studio totally cluttered.

Does anyone think GN'R having three guitarists and two keyboard players is a little much? Considering that Axl also knows how to play piano. I've never gotten why Dizzy is still needed in the band when you have Chris.

My ideal band set up = a vocalist, two guitars, a bass, a drum, and a piano player. A six piece band is perfect. You can have sidemen like a sax player or backing vocal girls as guests on records and live, and maybe a second keyboard player live...But Idk..it just makes the sound in GN'R a little more cluttered.

lol, you just now realized this??

    Yeah.

Now some argue two keyboardists are needed for some of the songs live--sure.

But why are both Dizzy and Chris needed in the studio? It's not like the band concots the songs live or organically. If they did, then I'd see the need for both. But as it is, Chris could always overdub a piano part under the synth.

Dizzy's been in the band since 1991. He's stuck with Axl and has been a true friend. Plus, Axl and Dizzy write great songs together. Every band member has their own special purpose.

  11. No. Not for the Chinese Democracy songs.

And remember, Brain almost toured with the band.

Which would've meant a vocalist, two lead guitarists, a rhythm guitarist, a bassist, two drummers and two keyboardists.

Why couldn't a six piece band play the CD songs? Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones handled all of Zep's material, even their complex stuff, live with ease. And this was in the 70s when concert technology was still in many ways in it's infancy. It can be done.

But why not have 3 guitars and 2 keyboards though? It's only a positive thing. Makes the band unique. More input from different individuals to songwriting too.

There are parts on CD where at least 3 guitar tracks are playing different things. I agree that it could be stripped down, but why?

The thing I worry about is having too many people in one band would be like too many cooks making a broth.

Keith Richards once said that the Stones' mid 70s work (from Goat's Head Soup to Black and Blue) suffered because they had all these guys like Billy Preston, Nicky Hopkins, Sugar Blue, etc etc throwing their ideas and spirit into the songs which muddled everything.

Idk. IMO Axl is at his best when he's playing angry, raw, aggressive music. Like Oh My God. Or Shackler's. To me those are the two best "nu Guns" tracks. I miss fun tracks like Bad Apples or Bad Obsession though.

It's also why I prefer the earlier demos of the CD songs to the finished product. The music became OVERLY layered. Overly complex. And this is coming from a guy who loves Physical Graffiti, so I'm not one of those people who say like "every song must be about partying and girls and must be the same 3 chords".

There were no "fun" songs on AFD.

You've seen how this band interacts with each other though. There's no doubt there's gonna be some more fun songs on the next few albums. I can't wait to hear what Axl and Ron can write together.

  12. No. I love the band how it is now. Youtube videos don't do the band justice at all. You have to be there live to fully appreciate the talent of this band.

November Rain is just one example of how incredible this band is. They all mesh together perfectly. I believe every band member has an important role in how everything sounds.

I'm sure the next album will need the big sound too. I always get the feeling that The General is going to be in my top five GN'R songs. I always think that Chris is going to make that song huge for some reason.

  13. I don't understand the hate for both DJ and Robin. Just because somebody is no longer in Guns N' Roses doesn't mean we have to hate them.

Honestly, I didn't become a fan of GN'R until late 2008, so I never had the experience of seeing Robin on tour. But I have love and respect for the man. He helped the music of Guns progress and evolve into something fantastic. He was there from day one of the reformed band (excluding the one year he took off in 1999). He''s definitely a different guitarist, which is why I like him.

On the other hand, DJ is awesome. Seeing him live with the band, it just seemed like he fits perfectly. He has a great connection with the fans and with the other band members. He's very melodic and can definitely bring in more people to be fans of Guns. He's also very charismatic and does truly care about the fans. And you can't deny that the man can play. Stop bashing him and enjoy that we have a great guitarist in the band. Three great guitarists actually.

And I can't finish this post without saying that Ron was the best thing to happen to this band. I love him! haha :xmasssanta:

  14. Has anybody seen The Fighter? I wanna see it but it seems like it's too late to see it in theaters but too early for it to even close to being released on DVD.

I thought it would just be a combination of Rocky and The Wrestler, two excellent movies, but I thought it would just be a generic boxing movie.

I've only heard good things about it though.

Anybody have a critique on it?

  15. DJ playing NR

    Robin playing NR

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvNtF2AJL6c

    Just sayin...

But yes, Robin had awesome material on CD and is way more original. But as far as performing...MEH.

Honestly, I think Robin was just putting his own spin on the solo. I actually enjoyed the way he played it.

But I would have to say that I prefer DJ. He knows how to put on a show. He has great energy and a great connection with the fans. I felt a strong connection with all three guitarists when I went the the Hamilton concert last year.

And I can't go without saying that this is the tightest I've heard the band as a whole in a long time. Just listen to that Novemeber Rain video. It's extraordinary. Especially from the outro to the end. It gave me chills. I really hope this line-up doesn't change at all.
