  1. She'll be absolutely fine, I'm sure she doesn't care what some moron on the internet thinks, besides you should understand the internet and how serious it is before you propel yourself into it.

Look at Justin Bieber and all the hate he gets, he seems fine last I heard. This girl is gaining attention fast, and I'd bet she's happy about that fact.

    this.

the day i get emotionally upset over something someone said on the internet, is the day the internet dies

Maybe if 100 000 people were talking about how ugly you were, you actually would care.

No idea who Rebecca Black is btw.

but i know i'm not ugly

and unless she's retarded, she knows she isn't ugly either

point is, it's kinda retarded acting like the internet does not matter. It's real life.

  3. Hair of the dog - Gak (Axl, Slash, Duff, Sebastian Bach, Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield & Kirk Hammet)

    not so great quality.

God, Axl is unbelievably sexy in that one.

    Coma

    One in a million

Think about what a classic One In A Million could have been with just a few fucking lines changed. It's a great song.

  4. And this is the reason there'll be no guns studio release for the forseeable :(

Just curious: What was the reason from 1994-2008?

Axl was waiting for the first black president to be elected in the US before he released a new album.

Axl will probably wait to release his next album when that president is voted out of office. I'm hoping 2012.

The truth is that Axl was never going to release CD, ever.

When people asked when it would come out, he just said "when Hell freezes over", "when we get a black president" etc. And when Obama got elected he was all like "Fuck, what am I gonna do now? I only got a bunch of average songs, and now I HAVE to release them.... Better get some dread locks to get the focus away from the quality of the songs :xmassrudolph: "

And that's why he removed the braids around then but then he... changed his mind about the dreadlocks?

  5. This is just insane. I guess I'm "on team Axl", but to laugh at Slash saying he is an embarrassment, making a fool of himself and, the most ridiculous one, "hurting the GNR legacy", talking about "how and when it went wrong"... You people have to have some serious issues with denial. I would be very careful about talking about those kinds of things in a direct or indirect comparison to Axl. Make a public poll, hell, make a poll with only the kind of people you actually respect (NuGnr fans excluded), and we all know what the results will be. Seems to me some of you think Axl's embarrassing moments will go away by pointing in Slash's direction, but it just makes you look deluded. Hell, the guy can have the biggest popstars in the world dressing up as him in videos and at the same time still work with almost any respected rocker he wishes. You got to give it to him.

  6. Tommy Stinson on his Twitter now:

"Don't know when the next Rock In Rio is or where it will be but it sounds like fun to me. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like the deal is done for Guns N´ Roses playing Rio de Janeiro this year

    :rofl-lol:

Well. I can tell you that the next rock in rio is being held this year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. http://www.rockinrio.com.br/

About the fingers crossed, Stinson refers to that "it sounds like fun to me", that he´s hoping for it to be fun.

    Hmmm, interesting actually.

  7. I actually appreciate that. Lyrics where there is no possibility to figure out by yourself what they are about are just frustrating. And to be honest I don't think it's a sign of superior writing skills either, often I think it's just lack of inspiration or being able to keep the lyrics together.

And I don't think Axl's lyrics are overly obvious either, it is often easy to apply your own problems etc

What I don't get about this thread though, is how the fuck it was possible to start fighting at post 2. There's nothing remotely provoking with the topic.

  8. Don't damn me.

They have played that one.... Back in the days...

Nope. Only track from that album never played...and a damn shame it is, too

And actually very weird! I mean there were obviously room even for You ain't the first

  9. Axl was joking about this himself in the late 80's, how he was threatening to quit every other day so nobody took it seriously anyway. Listen to the wonderful wake up call on Howard Stern in 1989 for example!

  10. No individual can be blamed for the demise of that incarnation of GN'R. It was a collective effort.

Slash was on heroin.......just like the majority of famous rock stars are at one point or another. AT least he SHOWED UP FOR HIS JOB.

Nice. Slash was on heroin, but, hey, so were a majority of famous rock stars. So, no big deal, right?

Maybe the addictions of Slash and Duff made were issues in and of themselves and created other issues that affected the band, more specifically Axl? All I'm saying is don't discount and dismiss the seriousness of addiction and the effects it can have on trust in working and personal relationships. Maybe the addictions and everything that went with it were the contributions those guys made to the demise of the old band?

I agree that it was most likely a collective effort. Everyone plays a role in a dysfunctional dynamic like that.

    Ali

Other than not agreeing with Axl over musical direction how do you figure their addictions impacted the band Ali? They never missed or were late for a show which Axl can't claim, they would get together to rehearse and work on new music together for which Axl rarely showed up and Slash, Gilby and Mat wrote an albums worth of music together ( Snakepit 1) which Axl intially rejected.

Slash, Duff, Izzy all stated that Axl became a dictator with a huge ego and if things did not go his way nothing would get done. Axl wanted them all to sign employee contracts effectively making him their boss.

While I would agree that it was not 100% Axl's fault he sure had a big hand in driving the others away.

And for those who would say Axl needed to take over the band due to the others addictions I find it interesting that Mick Jagger went through a similar situation with the Stones with Keef and Ronnies addictions and never had the need to try to take over the band name and cut the others out.......

They were trying to run a multi million business together, of course that is effected if somebody is a heroin addict or an alcoholic with one foot in the grave. Heroin for once is the most infamous drug of all, and drug addicts tend to put the drug first, lie to hide their addiction, steal etc etc. I don't think this works very well with running a business. Also, Izzy said it hurt him to look at his old friends when he came back in 93, since they were completely strung out and could hardly communicate or function at all (maybe not his exact words if somebody was to find the interview, but that's how I interpreted it). Even if you read Slash's book it doesn't really add up how he could be so focused on the drug and still work properly.

I don't think it's unlikely that those guys could turn up on time and play on stage, especially being pampered like the rockstars they were, while the more strategic decisions were harder for them to handle. I think it is possible this had some kind of role in the whole thing with Axl controlling everything.

  11. I think Jimi is kind of overrated...His style is that non-emotional style that would predate those like Finck or BBF. That messy, not really emotional style.

Guys like Jimmy Page, Chuck Berry, Peter Green, Santana, Slash, Keith Richards, Dave Gilmour, George Harrison, Mick Taylor, they're not as technically proficient as Jimi but their work especially their solos speaks of heart, of emotion. Jimi is too technical and sloppy for my tastes.

With all due respect you are not even close to correct regarding Jimi's playing. He is probably the most natural non technical out of all the guitarists you mentioned. Jimi was a perfectionist in the studio but his live shows were completely free form playing. Go listen to the first Band of Gypsys Live album and in particular "Machine Gun" the mans emotions flow his soul in through his fingers on that song...Mick Taylor, who I love, was much more techincal in his live playing then Jimi......give Band of Gypsys a listen and let me know if you still have the same opinoin.

Just take one look at who made the post, ignore it and move on.

    Fuck off.

  12. Slash has refered to nugnr as Axl's employees (that is what they are). He has also said when asked about a reunion that it won't happen. He says he has moved on. And that Axl and his band seem to be doing well. Axl will almost be saying the same things if he ever does an honest interview again.

Tbh, he has said that he doesn't like any of Slash's work since his days in GN'R and that it seems he's lost his inspiration. I don't think we'll be hearing Axl saying Slash seems to be doing well anytime soon, unfortunately.

Do you have a link to where axl said that specifically?

It's either from the Mygnr chats or the "recent" Del James interview

  14. "damage caused to Axl".....Bullshit.

Eh? That's the way law suits work. I you have been wronged, you get money as a compensation. Let's have the court decide if that is the case here. Either way nobody is getting any royalty money, which was the question.

Personally I wish he would just let it go. Whether or not he wins the case, he is going to walk away as the loser.

  15. I really hope it didnt take Axl over a decade to write the, IMO, diapointing, self indulgent, seemingly thrown together LYRICS. Chinese Democracy has some of the worse lyrics Ive ever heard. I really used to like Axls lyrics and still thinks his voice is unique and fierce. I dig the feel of the songs on CD and the guitar playing. Mabey if Axl would interact with people and get out and do something away from his circle of YESMEN and DO BOYS he would have something else to write about besides himself, The record hes putting out, SLASH, girfriends from the 80s and early 90s, or wars or political issues of a country he doesnt live in (which has plenty of problems to write about).

    a) you have no idea how much Axl gets out. Just because he doesn't visit high profile events doesn't mean he sits at home

b ) you have no idea about what girlfriends he might write about, just because you KNOW of Stephanie and Erin doesn't mean the lyrics are about them and that they are the only girlfriends he's had

    c) who are you to say what kind of political problems Axl is allowed to write about? Isn't it great with people who care beyond the stuff that directly effects them personally?

  16. If Axl / Blackfrog wins and recieves 20 million from Activision - once the lawyers have taken their cut, does that mean Axl will recieve 1/5th of what is left, with the rest going to Slash, Duff, Adler and Izzy - as they created the band, the song, and appeared in the music video.

No, why would you think that? The 20 million is not royalties, it is compensation for the damage caused to Axl by the violation of the contract.

  17. Marc Canter's said he's asked Slash to publicly apologize (Axl either didn't want to hear it, or wasn't around for the private apology Beta took second hand) and the sense he got is that Slash is reluctant to do it because it would hurt his "cool" credibility.

I think everyone is playing way past apologies, so it probably is totally redundant.

This is interesting. When did he say this? Is Marc still friends with Slash saying these kinds of things? Is Marc still friends with Axl?

  18. Is Slash still doing something that pisses off Axl?

    Let's see...

    • Years of pro-Slash manipulation in the media by Slash himself

    • The Guitar Hero lawsuit

    • Royalties lawsuit

    • Selling out at SuperBowl, playing Guns songs with random groups

    • Not being allowed to re-record and release a new version of SCOM (or even the whole AFD), even if it was just to "screw" the old band out of royalties

    • Showing up drunk at Axl's porch, and Slash didn't admit it until after a long time

There's probably more. IMO, the most hard-core Slash fans are much more annoying than Slash has ever been though.

I don't get it, aren't some of these things reasons for Slash to be pissed at Axl?

  19. He also made gnr.

    No he did not.

he had a big hand in it.

Studio does wonders. Don't make me post links were he butchers his own solos on songs like Perfect Crime and November Rain.

To be honest, I could post several links where Axl butchers Perfect Crime. And I absolutely adore Axl. So what? Their concerts wasn't about flawless playing.

A voice can get stale and/or raw which cant be controlled.

A great guitarist should not struggle. Ever hear Hendrix butcher his songs live?

Why not? Sometimes Axl struggled because he'd had a line of coke (he said so himself). Sometimes Slash played bad because he was too hammered. This was what "the most dangerous band in the world" was all about.

  20. He also made gnr.

    No he did not.

  21. yes, he is still alive. :shrugs:

    Are you fucking serious?

    She is.

It doesn't take much to piss Axl off.

    Exactly.

So in your opinion Slash has to die to keep Axl happy? Speaking about a mental dysfunction.

Maybe you should start taking things a bit less literal. It was perfectly clear she meant that by this point, Slash's pure existence is bothering Axl. No one wants anybody dead because of this.

  22. i think the real question is: what did he do in the first place to warrant the vehement hatred of axl? walking away from the band can't be it, duff did that too.

Well, I think it has a lot to do with Axl and Slash being the big stars of the bands. I think there has always been tension because of that. All this debating about who contributed the most to their songs and their success, everybody saying how Axl couldn't do it without Slash, and so on. And on top of that Slash has been much more insensitive about the matter in interviews through the years. I think Axl has felt undermined by Slash since '95.
