So if I understand correctly Axl was in a great mood, hugging slash and goofing around with him while slash did not return the affection and did not seem to be enjoying himself? I would have thought I would be the other way around, it must have been terrifying for Axl to walk on that stage with slash after all he has said and done. So slightly worrisome, is slash not happy with the situation? How does he normally act on stage nowadays?

I don't see her being young and female as a problem. The problem is there are more people on the stage that weren't in the real GNR than people that were. 4-3.
I have also always felt that, but if they desperately crave a second keyboard player I think a young woman is a better way to go, she is just so obviously not intended to be an additional "real" band member. I'd rather a woman with a completely different style than a seventh or an eight male rocker in his 40s or 50s. That creates a bunch!

They can't seriously go "back to the roots" with 7 people, 4 of them non originals and 2 (!!!) of them keyboardists? I hope it's for Axl

Adler cancelled a show at the whiskey today.
what else is he's gonna do? somehow i dont think he will be selling burgers at the exit door
But seriously, I feel like I am repeating myself but the cancellation could as well mean the opposite. Why would the poor bastard play the Whiskey the same night as GNR are reuniting at the troubadour? That would be a personal low point for him. Other signs are looking better but this argument in particular doesn't not make sense.

My friend Mike T who is a cameraman for ABC. Same guy who told me about the Kimmel info that I posted here. Same guy who told me about the vegas shows before they happened which I believe I posted somewhere here. I'm hoping to get some pictures from him for everyone tonight.
Steven will be there.
Steven will be playing.
Too ballsy of a statement not to believe in
Honestly, it's mindboggling how Frank and Richard could want to be part of this, in global limelight as the most unwanted band members in history. The money cannot be worth the humiliation

I guess this is the reason Steven cancelled his show at the Whiskey. He's got another gig tonight. Hopefully.
Or... It would have been terrible for him to be playing a gig next door tonight. Why didn't anyone bring that possibility up?

This is brilliant promotion

Anybody ever considered the fact that the Adler show might have been cancelled to avoid any humiliation on Steven's part? I hope not...

Is that an Axl approved sign? He seems to have been reluctant to call this a reunion.
Anyways, this thread has been almost impossible to follow while working at the same time but I am concluding that this seems to be the most exciting thing to be happening in the world of GNR since about 1991!!!! I guess Steven is confirmed seeing as he cancelled his gig? Then why wouldn't Izzy be there?! SO EXCITING!!! God I hope Axl's voice is up to par
-
Ok so I took a look at Spotify after all this talk about this generating more attention than the reunion because AC/DC is a much bigger band than GNR. Top 5 AC/DC songs: 1. back in black 37M 5. TNT 14M. GNR: 1. SCOM 119M 5. KNOHD 50M
GNR's fifth most popular song is vastly more popular than the most popular song of AC/DC so don't come here pretending like GNR don't hold a candle to AC/DC in terms of media attention

I don't know if almost everybody has a relationship to GnR... a lot of people I know, who are into rock, don't like them, so people who aren't into rock at all definitely don't care for them.
But I get what you're saying, I think the deal with AC/DC is that you have to like the singer's voice... a lot of people, even into rock, don't like his style of singing and his voice. Plus I don't think they've had many ballad hits under their name, so GnR is still to this day getting more airplay on different radion stations than a band like AC/DC. The reason why they create a bigger buzz in media is because it's going be the first time in 23 years that Axl and Slash are going to share the stage together, two 'icons' in rock, which most people thought would never happen. That's always special.
With relationship I don't mean people like them, but they have read a lot of headlines about them, they know the personalities behind the band and have opinions about them, at the least. GNR is one of the biggest MTV era bands. They were a media circus, bigger than the actual music. Good or bad, AC/DC is more about the music, and for a certain (big) target group.
This is making headlines because Axl is a name for tabloids, combined with AC/DC being a huge band.
-
I feel like I live in a different world than a lot of people here, maybe it's because I am not a "rocker" but listen to all sorts of music (i find the bashing of coachella on these forums ridiculous as an example).
Anyways, I am sure AC/DC is a bigger act in terms of ticket sales etc but surely GNR and GNR members create a bigger buzz in mainstream media, in "pop culture", among younger people, among people with a broader musical taste etc.
AC/DC is a band strictly for "rockers", which is a group with an aging demographic, and I don't doubt that they are the biggest in these circles. But GNR is a band that almost everybody has some kind of relationship to. I hang out with people who have a big interest in music but perhaps more rock and alternative than hard rock and metal, and if somebody would put on AC/DC during a party surely it would be a little ironic or "for the sake of nostalgia". They are e bit cliche, dad rock indeed.
These news are trending because of the combination, it's newsworthy because it's Axl of all people.

He defo has read it or got someone to read it and write notes on some of the chapters. He mentions the book below in the clip but who knows if that when it started.
Haha, the awkwardness when Axl starts joking about slash and you have no idea what comment is appropriate to follow up with

Or he knows better than to say "never". I mean, looked at what happened to Axl... If Izzy doesn't want to get sucked into this he better not say "never" or fate will bite him in the ass and force him to be part of it somehow.
I would agree if he was talking about ever reuniting with GNR but he is specifically talking about shows that are a month away

The main comparison seems to be nirvana but I remember back in the day (I was very young) it was all a battle in school between GNR and Metallica. I don't think Metallica had too many female fans though, I remember it was mostly the guys in school who kept objecting with Metallica.
Which leads to my question, because I never paid much attention to Metallica - was there ever any controversy around the members of Metallica? And were they even stars in their own capacity? I can't remember reading too many headlines about the members of Metallica. Good or bad - it seems like GNR was more like their own reality show of that time. The members were all stars and they had kind of a sex appeal which attracted all sorts of fans, which can't be said for James hetfield who seems to have been born 50 years old.

It works both ways. The point is that the regroup without Slash could only sell out shit
Exactly, but the original poster wrote "or even Axl", which you had to interpret as comparing sole original members in GNR and it kind of implied slash could headline coachella and sell hundreds of thousand of tickets in minutes by himself without Axl's involvement which is just not true.

Wow, that's so cool to hear. And I love that he keeps repeating "at this point in time". He really has that wording down, meaning he does want things to change. Love it.

Well, somehow he could sell out 20-25k venues during last two tours, can't remember when GNR sold out such a big arena last time He's perfectly fine, even without gnr.
Nobody claimed otherwise, but that is not the same thing as crediting all of the success in recent ticket sales to slash. He would never have done it without Axl

Wow, Axl's voice is just fantastic

Nah, Izzy is great, but Slash will always be the main man, exemplified by the fact they can headline Coachella and sell out stadiums upon his presence. Would that happen with Duff or Izzy or Steven or even Axl? No way.
But would Slash achieve that with his solo band or as the sole original member of GNR? No.

This thread is becoming completely unreadable with these long discussions. I don't really get why this could not have its own thread. A big portion of all news these days are delivered through social media so it makes no sense that just because that is the chosen medium all discussions should end up in a big mess of a thread. This thread should be more stuff like Axl getting a visit from LAFD. anything newsworthy causing substantial discussion should get a thread in the "news" section.

Guns N' Roses PLAY TROUBADOUR LOS ANGELES, FRIDAY APRIL 1, 2016: Axl, Slash & Duff Reunited
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS

Duff's whole appearance is just the opposite of becoming washed up. This is about as gracefully as someone can age and still play songs from when they were 25. Cudos to him.
