  1. What's this criticism of Sorum's 'repetitive patterns' and 'linearity'? On a 3 minute rock song with 3 verse/choruses, he has a particular job that he can only do so much with. Repetitive patterns? Have you listened to Slash, or Buckethead for that matter? lol Same shit all the time - and I LOVE those guys! There's supposed to be a kind of continuity in a rock song, especially with the drums. Listen to any Led Zeppelin song and tell me if the drums fills and nuances dont start basic and then expand as the song progresses. Steven Adler on the other hand, God love him, Live was so um...enthusiastic that he'd do these bigass meaningless snare fills early in the song and then had nowhere to go after that!

  2. I've always said that if Axl really wanted to bring Guns n Roses to today's masses he could easily do a guest spot on a Jay-Z or Eminem track. There's so many things the guy could do, it's obvious he just doesnt think the extra money and pop fame is worth the shit it brings. He wants to focus on Gnr. Have to respect the guy. If you find Axl haters, you're sure to find mediocre sheeple, I say.

I was initially against the idea of a rapper inducting him. But maybe that'd be good. Only problem is most rappers dont know shit about Gnr and understand what Axl's done; they're inarticulate as fuck, probably embarrassed to show respect a white guy who said an 'insensitive slur', and wouldnt make for the kind of speech adequate for inducting Guns n Roses to the HOF. Best bet is Steven Tyler or Elton.

That being said, if RRHOF wants to do what's best, they should definitely give Gnr the respect they deserve by letting them play last, the main event or whatever. Love the Chili Peppers but they arent on Gnr level.

  3. "Homefuck" is definitely the Holy Grail of Axlisms.

Honorable mentions include: rhyming "Suck my ass" and "so low class" "Put it in, pull it out, grab your face and then I'll cum in your mouth. Tastes good, dont it?" is one you wanna take home to Mom and Dad for sure.

"YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAA!!!" (great one at the end of Human Being) "Said" "Aye, Aye, Aye Aye Yeaa" "with your ass in the air" never gets old.... There's simply too many to name. Axl Rose, ladies and gents.

  4. In response to GnrChris,

I dont think we're necessarily disagreeing with each other, it's just you dont understand my point, so I hope this is the last comment. Again, my point was referring to being BOTH big sellers AND the coolest hippest band on the planet. Occupying both spheres changed in late '91. The 'it' band was Nirvana, not Gnr, in '92. And also I agree with your point that the culture was changing in '91, but I think that Nirvana deserves their acclaim b/c they were THAT band that spearheaded that revolution. Look at the SLTS video, not only is it different looking, but look at the hair, the grungy clothes, the way Kurt smashes his guitar - it encapsulates the entire mentality of a generation in a video. Nirvana was not overrated, and I dont think Axl would disagree with me on this. Hell, Axl was wearing a goofy Nirvana hat and a plaid shirt in Dont Cry, trying to get them to go on tour, etc.

To your other points, I think Green Day, Weezer, and Offspring was profoundly influenced by Nirvana so I dont think you can separate the two, as if they would've truly been who they are without Nirvana. Rivers deliberately tried to be like Kurt. The other thing: The reason Gnr didnt release a new album and instead did a covers album cannot be completely known by us, but I think part of the reason is that 1) Axl was actually trying to 'strip down' Gnr after UYI make it more alternative-friendly and make a 'punk' album since after all alternative was the 'descendent of punk.' 2) I dont thnk GNR knew where to go after UYI. The band was in bad shape, the climate (like I said) was increasingly hostile to bands like Gnr.

  5. Besides, fans like us catch so much shit for wearing Gnr shirts in public because Gnr offends the mainstream, so Gnr concerts are a cathartic experience for us.

What? GN'R is about as "mainstream" as you can get for anyone not born in the 2000s (besides Chinese Democracy).

Gnr was mainstream in terms of popularity for only about 3 years my friend. Then Nirvana and 'alternative' bands became the hip thing. Being a Gnr fan has been offensive to the mainstream since, arguably, '91. They managed to sell loads of records after that, but that's only because they rock and enough people like them.

87 to 93 is 6 years btw. An ppl liked them well after that fyi.

Did you even read what I wrote? I dont know how I can simplify it any more: Gnr had the combination of world-wide fame AND the label as being the trendiest, hippest band from part of '88 through '91. By '92, yes they were hugely popular and sold millions but they were no longer 'the rebels.' Kurt Cobain tried to show up Axl at the VMAs, MTV basically sided with Kurt, Nevermind was the new cool thing in late-91, people started cutting their hair, Pearl Jam Ten, Alice in Chains, ETC. In '92 Clinton was in office after over a decade of republicans - the cultural change was evident in '92, and Gnr was depicted as not a part of the new thing. Sheesh how old are you? Do you actually know what you're talking about?

  7. I hate Facebook. I still respect people who use it, but I lose some respect for them. Sort of like when I find out someone is religious. I may think theyre sort of stupid, but I'll still associate with them...

Hey Evil Ernie qualify your statements please before being casual about something with big implications while displaying no knowledge of it whatsoever. You're assuming there are two types of people: 'religious' people and 'non religious' people, a very dated, dead notion. Anybody looking around sees how the 'non religious' govt and businesses practically force people into becoming idol-worshipping materialists who bow down to the state. 20th century communism, anyone? 'Non religion' is particularly religious, in the worst way. 'Convert the nonbelievers' is the tagline for a cell phone company, not a church.

  8. No, GnR Chris, you can and should wear the shirt of the band you're going to see - ESPECIALLY GNR. I remember the movie PCU (with Jeremy Piven, used to come on Commie Central all the time) starting the "dont be that guy (who wears the shirt of the band he's going to see" thing. I dunno, it was a funny line in a pretty funny movie, but it has no correlation to reality - there's always many, many guys wearing the shirt. Wear the damn shirt. Besides, fans like us catch so much shit for wearing Gnr shirts in public because Gnr offends the mainstream, so Gnr concerts are a cathartic experience for us. We waited fifteen wears for an album, rocked everyone's socks off yet get called corporate establishment music, etc etc - hell, I'll wear an umpire's uniform and short shorts if I want. Furthermore, we want Axl and the guys to know that we support them.

  9. This shit is garbage. Would DJ please lock himself away with a walkman and a bunch of old zeppelin tapes for a few months, please? And what's with that picture? Is it...glamorizing dereliction?

Is he crying and posing at the same time?

Is he homeless and wearing designer jeans?
