  1. There Was A Time, the outro solo (Robin + Bucket). Best song on the album for me, one of GN'R's best for me as well.

Bucket's solo on Sorry is also very beautiful. Would be my second vote. I wish Slash would play them as they are on the album - I like what he does with Chinese Democracy and Better though.

This I Love is also a great moment - plenty of strong guitar work on CD.

I hate that the "I LOVE YOU AXL" guy is all over the recording, but I'll get over it eventually lol

Yeah he's pretty annoying, to say the least. Wonder what Ask thinks of that if he heard it. But I'm sure they've all had their good share of rabbis nut fans following them.

  3. I've now listened to the whole show and IMO it's not that bad. Yes there are some weak moments but I wouldn't call this a 'Mickey' performance. Axl seems to have found a voice that is an hybrid between his classic vocals and what we've heard in 2002 or 2014.

It works for me - and if it allows him to do 150+ shows I don't mind.

I'm glad they did an AFD anniversary gig, but like most people, disappointed and surprised that they didn't focus on AFD and that Izzy and Steven weren't involved.

It was not an anniversary gig - never advertised as such. It was a special NITL show, and at the same time the band acknowledged AFD's 30th with some material being displayed around NYC.

That's my interpretation of things anyway.

Regardless of their position as professional musicians, playing something different, and more importantly doing it justice, requires a decent amount of rehearsal time and last I heard, GN'R were touring the world playing every couple of days.

Doesn't leave much time to get any alternative songs in good order.

From what I've heard of the Apollo recordings, Axl sounds fine to me. Listening to it live, in the actual venue, he would have sounded incredible.

Anyway, I came here to post something I quickly knocked up in Photoshop, should anyone else like square covers in the their collection ;)

    Thank you for this cover!

I love matts drumming. It may not have the seat of your pants playing like adler, but the band were wanting to develop and Matts drumming was perfect for the songs and for the time of the band. I don't know about sympathy for the devil as slash has said, the song is the sound of a band disintegrating. When I hear Franks drumming on the illusion songs it tells me sorums playing cant be replicated. Liked his drumming on Contraband to. The only reason hes not part of the NITL tour is because Axl doesn't like him because of ego simple as that.

Matt's sound is dated now, on the Illusions album - I like what he did on Contraband.

Frank does not try to replicate his style, he plays the songs his own way - the only thing he adapted was through his work with Duff n' Slash, to reduce the 'bombastic' setup and approach he had on previous tours.

Matt is not on the NITL tour because he's a loudmouth that fucked himself up with all of his stupid comments of the last 25 years.

Those opening vocals are awesome! "HEEEYYYY YEAAAAA, ARE YA READY?!" Terrible song but he makes it quite enjoyable to start the show. How do you not get pumped up. His vocals are just perfect, Angus was probably shocked at the first rehearsal

I only like the opening chords up to the "hey yeah, are you ready?" - then I skip videos

What are you smoking and may I please have some?

    It's called happiness, wanna try?

Early morning here in Belgium, the sun is shinning - having a coffee while following the concert before starting my day at work. Hope not to see that they went into Paradise City after I'm finished writing this post! This was such an AMAZING first leg of the Not In This Lifetime! tour.

Ha ha guys, not a betting man but I was tempted to push this forward for a second ;) Let's say that is wishful thinking at maximum power
