That would clash with Reading/Leeds, right? Would be a dick/dumb move. They were rumoured to play R+L, so August would make sense. But then again; they were rumoured to play a bunch of Euro festival and aren't playing any at all.

They pulled out and changed plans. They were in serious talks for some festivals in May and June and late August according to owner of Pinkpop and one other owner (forgot which one)

  2. Was Kanye West really that good live before? I just realised that I never watched his shows beside Glastonbury but I have listened to his albums couple of times and they are pretty good.

    My top 5:

    1. David Gilmour in Pula, Croatia 2015 - Ancient amphitheatre, lots of smoke, big round screen, first high note from the black strat... One can't forget that feeling.
    2. RHCP in Sofia, Bulgaria, 2012 - Epic concert, something clicked that night between the band and crowd. I saw RHCP 2 times before that (4 days before and 5 years before) and I could really see the difference.
    3. Slash in Belgrade, Serbia 2010 - Last concert on that tour and Slash and Myles sure tried hard to be a memorable too.
    4. Sabaton in Belgrade, Serbia 2015 - I don't know if you guys know them. Power metal band from Sweden whcih sings about battles from WW 1 and 2 mostly but their concerts are so much fun. Also their drummer is on a tank.
    5. Metallica in Belgrade, Serbia 2004 - Their first concert here, so many hardcore fans, so much moshing, great setlist and awesome sound.

Honorable mentions. Faith no More 2010, Atoms for Peace 2013, Pearl Jam in 2006, The Prodigy in 2007, Muse in 2007, GnR in 2010 (2012 was just bad), Rolling Stones in 2007 (I don't like them, it would probably be higher if I do, but they are one of those bucket list bands), Iron Maiden in 2010...

I saw a "live" video of Avicii. It amazes me that people pay for that crap. A barely visible figure on the stage who triggers entirely pre-recorded tracks and waves his hands in the air.

Modern really popular EDM music (Avicii, Martin Garrix and shit) has to be the worst kind of music. There are so many great DJs out there but their image is ruined by those guys

It amazes me in these endless "seats on the floor" threads that people still think that a seat means people actually sit during the concert. Come on - people in the damn stands don't sit for the headliner. The seat is just a reserved spot. That's all it is, and I'm with the side that agrees that that it's nice to know I don't have to queue eight hours early to get my fifth row spot. There's pros and cons to both, but it certainly wouldn't affect my decision to go one way or the other.

"Oh no, there's no GA and I can only pull up a second row centre ticket with a seat? Guess I'm not going then."

So while you're not at the show, I'll be there with my pants pulled high and a monocle while sitting down the entire concert.

Yeah but you can't mosh at all, you can't go crazy or you'll break your neck. Not that everyone should be in walls of death but look at that video of Welcome to the Jungle video from Troubadour. That's what I'm expecting when I have floor tickets.

Meaning what exactly? Europeans (continent) don't especially look at Britons like they are something special or whatever.quite the opposite. The way they behave on holidays....no comment needed.

Hmm, well the United Kingdom is geographically Europe, and also is in (as I speak) the European Union, so I do not understand what you are grasping at here, (it is usually an indigenous Briton making the argument for British isolationism and exceptionalism!), however, I have traveled extensively in Europe - especially in Italy and Spain. Do you not agree that Europe - Spain, Greece and Ireland but also the rest of Europe - is broke? Do you not agree that the goateed wrestling fans, the type of person buying Guns N' Roses tickets in America, are a specie almost non-existent in Europe?

I was commenting on the market. Market in UK and continental Europe is different when it comes to music and that big part of Europe is broke isn't exactly true. I'm not talking about history or politics or whatever just music market.

Spain is so broke that they have many sold out/almost sold out festivals: NOS Alive Bennicasim, Mad Cool, Primavera, Bilbao BBK, Azkena Rock Festival... Greece will have 2 days festival with Muse on one day and EDM the other day with 60k capacity. Basically every continental European country has a major festival with 180€+ ticket price that sells well. Also many acts that sell out arenas in UK can't sell shit in other parts in Europe and vice versa, just check out line ups of Reading and Leeds and Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park, Foals and Biffy Clyro are not even in the second row of acts in RaR/RiP but they are headlining in UK and Volbeat maybe can headline 3rd stage at Download but is headlining in continental Europe.

Guns N' Roses fans in continental Europe are quite different than in USA. It's uncool to listen to GnR in USA (it seems) but every younger rocker/metalhead listens to GnR at least occasionally and it's usually the first band alongside Metallica and Iron Maiden that young people listen when they turn to rock music and demographic of GnR fans is quite different here but still huge. It has older fans that loved them during their prime and a lot of younger fans that will want to see Slash and Axl together.

Other than Guns, Ice and Clark Jr I've literally never heard of any of those bands/people.

There is some really quality stuff there, whole main stage is great starting with Gary Clark Jr until the end. You probably don't like electronic music but Disclosure is awesome live, Chvrches (possibly the worst name ever) is fun too, Run the Jewels is really high energy rap group.

Whoever is going from this forum will have great time if they plan on camping on main stage.

    Ignorance I guess ?

I really had to google them and found out they're also pretty popular in Germany... Oops.

In my defense: I don't listen to the shit on the radio.

Coldplay is really really popular since 2001 or so. How did you miss radio or anything for so much time?

Also, I need to say that I don't like Coldplay at all but they are nowhere near pop shit that gets you famous today. They are actually legit band, with great musicians and great live shows. It's just that their music seems bland to me and it's uninspiring but you could say that for GnR if you were not a fan.

  8. As someone who has a task to sometimes scout bands and to look at their stage set up too I can tell you that there are many many bands which play in 500-2k venues with better looking production on stage. It's just bad, the only good part is when they show live video on that big screen because of the good camera work. Pyro is also over the top, it works on Live and Let Die and during November Rain solo and that's it.
