  1. It's important because I couldn't do my job without it.

It's also important too for those who don't want to work and want to receive benefits because how are you going to fill out the application forms if you can't read and write. Thank fucking Christ for school!

  2. How does everyone always know when it's someone's birthday ? Anyway, thanks for making the thread and... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Adrift :)

They don't, because mine has already passed and nobody sent me birthday greetings!... Well, that or they hate me :( Haha.

Happy birthday Adrift. Hope you had a good one :)

Aaaaw, don't be sad. If I'd known when it was your birthday I'd have started a thread for you too. :)

  3. A lot of ugly things can happen in the world, but it's always nice that in the end, boobs make boys happy.

And shoes make girls happy. Personally, I'm glad I'm female because I can walk into any shop, fall in love with a pair of shoes and within minutes be the proud owner of said shoes. Unfortunately, boobs don't work like that. Ha!

  4. The funny thing is that that ad is probably directed at your demographic Bacardi. Yet you think it's a total pile of crap. See how off the mark they are? What a waste of fucking money. Losers, such losers.

  5. I just went out with the ladies who lunch. Each of us is dealing with cancer in one way or another.

We drank mojitos, ate big steaks, flirted with men and laughed - a lot. So pretty happy at the moment.

    Happy is as happy does.

I wish I had your attitude in general. Btw, when I had cancer, I was SUCH a cunt! (even more then now)

Well, I get that. Cancer is a BITCH. But I truly believe that you must find opportunities to laugh. It is an important part of any treatment. And it helps keep the upper hand with the bitch.

My Mom taught me that. She cared for my Dad at home while he was dying of cancer. And she would find all these ways of making us laugh, sometimes even when it seemed inappropriate - which is the best laughter, by the way!

It's awesome that you can find a sense of happiness despite having serious shit to deal with. Too many people think that happiness is having your life at a point where there are no issues to deal with or problems to get in the way. That's completely unrealistic and just downright impossible. There will always be stuff that gets in the way and its about finding contentment despite the 'stuff', whether it be big or small. And it's the 'shit stuff' that makes us more rounded, more understanding of what life really is once we overcome it. The happiest people are just those who know how to navigate their way through hardship and become better for it.

  6. Fuck yes. There's very little imagination in a lot of advertising and its pathetic.

There's a bakery chain here that makes pretty stock standard bread and their TV ads claim to the "the worlds best bread". Really? The world's best? So the 250 year old bakeries in Paris that have for generations dedicated their time to mastering the skill of bread baking are actually making a substandard product compared to some shopping mall bakery chain in Australia? I don't think so.

Yeah, it's time to try harder. Especially since we don't need to expose ourselves to the standard methods of advertising the way we used to, given the change in technology. Unfortunately though a lot of companies have idiots for marketing managers and they wouldn't know a good ad if it knocked them in the head.

  7. Last nights show at the Hammersmith blew any of my previous concert experiences out of the water.

Seriously guys, the rave reviews are not just media hysteria and hyperbole. This show really is something quite special, more like an elaborate theatrical production than a pop concert. Kate is remarkable throughout and her voice is in top form. The whole Ninth Wave part of the show is utterly breathtaking. There really are no words.... It has to be seen to be believed.

I don't know why some folks are complaining about the setlist... Did you really expect her to come out and do Wuthering Heights? She was 16 when she wrote that, she's 56 now. Anybody familiar with her last few albums would know she's a very different artist/singer nowadays. Wuthering Heights would've had to changed dramatically to be performed in 2014. Some things are best left alone.

I can agree with that to a certain extent but considering the fact that these shows are not due to the release of a new album I think it's a bit weird she didn't play the one song that has immortalised her as a part of the British music history. These shows are a retrospective of her work, not a new forward looking wave in her career. If that was the case I could understand she might want to bury some of the iconic songs from the past in order to look forward and focus on the present and the future, but come on, that's not what this is about and people have paid a lot of money to hear her sing the songs that they have loved for many many years. Withering Heights IS Kate Bush. If she wants to bury that then she'd better start writing and recording some new material IMO.

I'm sure Axl gets sick of singing SCOM every single show but he gets that it's so essential to what GNR is that one of their shows is not complete without it.

  8. I love everything they've ever done but this song can really bring a tear to my eye. There have been times where I have played this over and over and over. I rarely get as obsessive about a song as I've been about this one.

  9. Arcade Fire are soooo fantastic live. I'd pay to see them as many times as I possibly could.

In November I'm going to see Tori Amos (for the third time) and in December Nick Cave (for the second time). Really looking forward to both shows.

  10. This thread needs Lenny. He'd have set you all straight. :(

She's only intolerable when taken out of context but that's unfortunately the reality of most contemporary art. Too much context is required and most viewers have neither the time nor the inclination to find it.

I think if you don't like something without taking the time to properly understand it, just leave it be and move on.

  11. I'd also like to add that I remember fondly jumping around the lounge room in 1985 to 'Running Up That Hill' mimicking Kate's moves as best I could. I was doing a lot of ballet at the time and I considered it better practice and training than the boring exercises my dowdy ballet teacher gave me. ;)

  12. Fuck you Towelie! As we speak I've been watching the BBC doco on her life in celebration of the new shows and I came into MyWorld for the first time in aaaaages to specifically post about her magnificence and wondering if anyone was going to see her live........I'm sooooo jealous!!!!

How was it? You must tell!

And by the way, I'm not at all surprised to hear you're a huge Kate fan. Tori fans are usually Kate fans.

Edit: OK, so you haven't seen her yet. I just realised that her first show is the 26th. I thought it was the 25th and all day today I thought it was the 27th. My bad.

  13. Post a photo with it on Kim! I'm sure you look beautiful in it!

The theme was Golden Age of Hollywood. :) Didn't get any full length shots on my phone. My friends have some but I'm yet to have them sent to me.

Had the most fantastic night though. Lady Gaga was staying at our hotel and there were crazy teenagers out the front all day! When we came back to our room at about 3am there were some teenagers gushing at a woman who sort of looked like LG and they were thanking her and being basically how I would be around Axl () and she got in the elevator with me and my friend. She was wearing shoes identical to mine but really wasn't dressed like LG would dress so I chatted to her about her shoes but I was thinking "that really doesn't seem like Lady Gaga". When my friend and I got out of the lift she looked at me and said "that wasn't Lady Gaga" and we pissed ourselves laughing.

Next morning we found out she had been at the Cherry Bar until 5am. No idea who that woman in the lift was who had all the teenyboppers fooled.

  15. I'm so sorry for your loss, Orsys. I can't imagine what you're going through now, especially taking into account all that you've been through in the last 6-12 months. Your attitude is a testament to your strength of character. I think you're amazing. :)

I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed myself over the last couple of months but your post has put a few things into perspective for me. There are some things in life genuinely worth worrying about and some things that are just pointless, we have to remind ourselves of that every day or we end up dragged down by meaningless shit. Or dragged down by assholes. One thing I know is that no one should steal your joy!

Love to you Orsys, you're such a babe. :) xo
