  1. No. Please, God, no.

I understand some people see the cd as a dark era in Guns history so why shine the spotlight on it even more?

I personally love the live tracks so I think it would be cool.

The people that hate the cd will never like it, the people that love it will appreciate it. Everyone has different taste.

It's not even about that, you know? Even though I think CD kinda sucks, I think a live album with some of those songs would be cool IF Axl had released another 2-3 albums along the way. But we have been hearing nothing but decades old music for, well, decades. And it's fuckin' ridiculous. And it's fucking insulting to the fans. So Axl needs to man up and make a new album. He can shove anything else up his ass for all I care.

Yea there's no doubt only having one release since they started work on the album in 98-99 sucks. It makes it hard to appreciate a live album of one album, but at this point most people would appreciate anything. I just want whatever comes next to be good.

  2. No. Release at least ONE more new album, maybe an additional EP, and in 2018 or 2023 release a 10- or 15-year anniversary edition of Chinese with live cuts and the remixes, maybe some alt. demos. Then release more *new* music.

I see where your coming from but this has been a long era! Haha I don't agree with releasing a live album everytime you release a cd but these are performances spanning over a decade. I think it's time to close the era.

  3. Imagine a live era Chinese Demcracy with 3 bonus tracks. The tracks being Oh My God, Silkworms, and A cover like Sailing from 06.

It would be great we all know there have been some great performances of the Chinese songs in the past 7 years. Many times the song live is better than it is on the cd (This I Love, Scraped).

The best part is it could get a few more people talking about Guns N Roses, it could potentially get the ball rolling towards a new album. Axl could do an interview or two and talk about the process of getting the actual cd together over the past 14 years. It could release in summer or fall of 2014 bc we are pretty sure the new album won't be released next year. So something to tide us over till then. I just think it has great advertising potential for what the bands been up to the past 7 years, and hopefully what's to come.

It would be an excellent way to close out the Chinese era and begin focusing on what's next. I think a lot of people would appreciate the live performances. They could possibly release a couple music videos of pro shots of This I Love and Better.

We all know the Chinese Democracy era has been around a long time. I think it's time to close that chapter with a fitting end. Things may not have been perfect or gone the way the band had hoped but this would be an excellent finish.

Live Era Chinese Democracy as a proper studio release would be great to hear. The bonus tracks would offer a different taste.

Do you think this is a good idea or are you afraid too much focus on another project will only delay a new album longer?

  4. The CD is concentrated on a few areas, war, love, and hate. Interesting enough this goes together. But as we see the first song is a war, second song is hate and third is love.

Many love songs on this album though, in a weird way they all fit together. Seems he can't make up his mind if he hates this girl or can see past all her flaws and to be honest he feels crazy for thinking he can

The war songs are Madagascar sorry and Chinese democracy...they are just about personal battles.

Hate songs are catcher and shackler's, I think they explain the hate within an insane person from two different perspectives....idk

I don't think it's a coincidence that scraped is in the middle. It's a motivational song and The only one on the album. I think it's telling that he needed the motivation to get past the negativity coming up on songs 8-14 to get by and complete the record.

I change my mind this record does have a story...it's about war, love, and hate. It's about dealing with these big concepts in our own personal life. In many ways it's Axl's crazy story of the battles he had fought within himself.

Ok I've contributed to the thread, just my opinions of the songs and record though. Hope y'all enjoy. I know everyone sees things differently.

  5. Ok let's go through the record.

Chinese Democracy-it begins with an epic entrance and the music hits with a bang. To me this song is the beginning of a war that's taking place.

Shackler's Revenge-sounds like a fight between good and evil. There are two voices used and I think it's showing the dark side of the mind.

Better-has to do with a love that he's never gotten over, but in hindsight he sees the trouble it has caused and wish he had known "better"

Street of Dreams-another story of a lost love, seems to be about being naive and young. Also how people change. I think the street is a walk down memory lane and seeing what you hope is true but knowing it's not real.

If the World- about love again but this ones about letting your guard down and the enjoyment of love, but how meaningless it is if you never learn to show your love.

There was a Time-another song about love but instead it is a list of grievances against a former loved one. He is shocked at everything he has found and can only think that he would once do anything for this person and now it seems so wrong.

Catcher in the Rye-reminds me of a softer spoken shackler's, obviously it deals with the mind of a killer. The ending feels like the aftermath of an action committed by the insane. To me it's a third person point of view, not personal.

Scraped-reminds me of one of Axl's old speeches that he used to give at concerts to the fans. A motivational song that deals with everything going wrong and everyone telling you your wrong, worthless, and wasting your time but realizing that you can get past anything anyone tells you and be more than they thought you could be. Maybe personal demons or anyone holding you back but having the strength to get by them.

Riad N the Bedouins-honestly this one is hard....my guess is the people he hates or doesn't like is standing in the way of his paradise. Either that or it's about not being a part of everyone else's plan.

Sorry-about a manager or person within the record company that Axl wanted fired. Obviously these two don't get along and Axl is seeing all the things he is doing behind his back. "You got all the answers, you know everything, why nobody asked you is a mystery to me" he's mocking him here. I know a lot want this to be about slash but read the lyrics...it fits better with a manager figure of sorts. To each their own though.

IRS-tough one too, but seems to be about a girl that he's given his heart to, and was a BIG mistake. Sadly he still feels for the girl even after finding out everything. Even in his mind he knows it's crazy and well it should be a crime. This love makes no sense to him.

Madagascar-a song about separation obviously. He feels he is drifting away from someone or something, or being isolated. He has gone through some tough times, but has survived and yet it's not sad it's a new freedom.

This I Love-a song about a deep love that is now gone. There is something special about this love and he would give everything have it back.

Prostitute-I believe he is speaking of ways of enjoying fame, and being fortunate. He's saying you can choose to prostitute your name and live with it knowing that you did what everyone else wanted you to do. Or you could do things your way. The way Axl has and live the way he wants, decide for himself, and ultimately never feel the shame of being forced to do something. He feels there are pressures to not be yourself but if you give in to these pressures then you've become a prostitute to the fame. I see this as his explanation for using the name Guns n Roses, for him continuing on the way he has. It's his last song on the cd and an ending that says I did it my way.

  6. I think there was just a lot he was trying to accomplish, just take the years 94-00 for example. He goes through a court case with his two ex's, people are pushing him to do this and that, he ultimately starts losing his band, his mom passes away, in his mind everyone wanted more out of him at a time he wanted to be left alone or at least some understanding. At this point Axl is a wife beating psycho who can't get along with his band who leaves him. Pressure from the record company puts him back into trying to make a guns record with a new cast. He gets a band together and starts trying to fit pieces of what has happened into lyrics.

Now he's getting sued from his former band mates. This I'm sure stings. He's got a task to make this new assignment work and his life has collapsed over the past 5 years.

I think at this point he just starts writing a lot of songs, he needed a way to express how he felt but there's so much that has happened it's hard to make one theme so his lyrics are coming from everywhere.

Out of all the songs Axl wrote during this time I think we just got a random selection of songs that have no theme. They are just songs of anger , revenge, depression, things he saw on the tv, failure, and expectation. I think some of the better songs are still buried. It was just hard for Axl to express what he wanted at this time.

The other problem was his voice was either high and clean or deep and raspy. He was missing the middle voices and soft voices on songs like patience. I think 88-93 Axl could have made the record huge, but vocally something was off.

Anyways if you actually read this I'm sorry. It's all pretty ridiculous haha but who knows I guess a lot of things were against Axl when it came to making Chinese Democracy...maybe that's why he said it was a miracle it ever came out.

  7. "I think the confidence level of the offense is pretty high right now. Everybody is getting their legs back and trying to recuperate from the two-a-days. We have a little extra bounce in our steps and are playing the way we`re capable of."

I gotta admit I still thought this was one from Axl...I was like "ok Axl likes to compare touring to a sports season...cool"

Then it just got ridiculous and I was like "ok Axl's got hands?" haha

Anyways the life sucks in a beautiful kind of way is my favorite. Haha

  8. If silkworms and oh my god are played then all the hardcore fans should be happy because they will clearly be for the hardcore fans. Like the above post said these songs are not for everyone, but most of us on this board have been wanting to hear a new version of these. (Mainly bc they have shown up on setlist)

It will be cool bc it shows Axl and management are paying attention to the people that are still on these boards showing support. As frustrating as it is for any one in the Guns camp to read some of the post here, I still like to think they care to read what is important to the fans. (They do work very slow though haha but they get there eventually. I guess things aren't as easy as we'd like them to be)

I'm hoping for some new songs that we have the title to but haven't heard. I think Going Down will be there though so 1-2 unheard would be good for this tour. Bumblefoot seems happier with his solo stuff lately then hearing about a new tour (basing off tweets so I could be wrong) so I think he got news to be working on a couple Chinese democracy left overs instead of all new material. Just a guess, I just think we would hear something really positive on his part when a new creative album begins taking shape.

Anyways the tl;dr is that would be cool if guns camp is listening to us, but unheard songs (Chinese leftovers) would be even better!

  9. The running is awesome bc you don't get that kind of energy out artist. Even now singers just add back up dancers around them while they stand there and sing. Axl added to the music like no one else.

He made the price of admission worth it with his presence. I personally think the music dictates his actions, and the bigger stages allowed him more room to feel the music. Idk I think everyone agrees the running was amazing. It makes re-watching the old concerts great.

  10. That sweater is going to be worth $300 one day! People have a fascination with sweaters and people still love the brand guns n roses...it was perfect. Might be ugly but if that's all they made then it's an instant collectors item haha I'm jealous

  11. I get the feeling Axl relished opportunities to perform for different crowds, and to outperform other singers. He just has an edge about him in these videos. He is so far ahead of everyone else. It's crazy how amazing of a performer he was in his prime. I guess that's why he's considered one of if not the greatest frontman of all time.

If we could bring every great singer into one competition and have them all be in their prime Axl would win hands down. He just encompasses everything that makes music great!

I wish everyone would take the time to watch videos of his performances. He's not as celebrated a singer as he should be, but if everyone watched these they wouldn't accept 90% of the music performances now.

Piece of me was my favorite by the way, he's too awesome in that one!

  12. The only problem is I don't think Axl sings at rehearsals. Maybe I'm wrong but was he singing when they rehearsed OMG? I really don't know, I just know after Estranged at Rio Axl said that "was the first time he sang that song in 18 years and only the third or fourth time the band had played it."

I'm not doubting he can do OMG or Silkworms, but those seemed like songs for Axl 10 years ago. It would be cool to see him do em now though I just wouldn't bet on it.

And I'm not doubting Axl because he doesn't rehearse. I'm sure he has his own ways of preparing.

He sang it in '98-'99 for Live Era.

And lol @ Dj trying to play Locomotive when he can't even play SCOM, TIL and Riad right

    Did he though?

And how awesome would it be if they play Pretty Tied Up!

Pretty Tied Up would be so awesome if he wasn't Mickey :headbang: :headbang:

But yeah, I'm about 99.9% sure he did. There is a semi-isolated vocal track floating, and it sounds different than the Tokyo show it was recorded at

Imagine the show starting off with Pretty Tied Up! Instead of a long entrance it would jump you right into the show...that song has such a great opening, maybe it's just me thinking of Rio 91!

And yea I've heard parts of live era were redone but I always thought estranged stayed the same. I haven't listened for the differences though. It wouldn't surprise me if he did re-do parts, but his vocals from 98 were amazing if that's the case!

  14. Hahaha that's good maybe it did come from the shower sessions. I'd probably buy it then tell everyone about the awesome material on it, then start my own website and podcast that describes how awesome it is that I have the only copy, then blackmail GNR and Axl into making me an official insider, then send a 3 minute sample to you so you know it's real, then release the sample, and finally blame you for leaking it so your favorite band will hate you....man life would be good.

    Singing in the shower?

I bet you would pay for a shower soundtrack from Axl though haha

  17. I know it's not a new song but I remember when they finished Estranged at rio in 2011 Axl looked surprised that they did well with it...then he apologized that it was only the second time they've rehearsed that song.

I hope they have time to rehearse some of the new stuff. I'd hate for it to get removed from the set list because they aren't ready. But with that said this band has adapted well and I think they are just as excited to do something new.

I don't see silkworms being played live though. I just can't see Axl performing it, but I'm up for a surprise. If Axl has the energy he had in 2010 then he can pull off anything. It will be fun to get the updates from this tour.

  18. I wish Axl would get the Chinese democracy instrumentals on iTunes! Those are excellent.

This I Love and Prostitute stand out. He definitely can put together some great music. The CD instrumentals sound like they belong in a movie though. He would be an excellent composer of big movie soundtracks. Everything that we've heard from CD and the leaks have an epic sound to em

I'd link the instrumentals to some songs but I don't see em on YouTube anymore.
