Don't think i saw that comparison, but I believe the CGI would at least fix my main issue with the whole thing, which is the constant moving parts and lack of focus. I'm being serious: the video should have a warning for photo-sensitive persons.

I'm not any of that and even if I wear anti blue light glasses, my eyes hurt after seeing this video.

I think their reactions were not so much to people who said they didn't like the video, but mostly to those who said it didn't take any effort to make it and it was just generated in minutes with AI software.

I'm not a fan of the video either and their reaction was a bit over the top, but I kind of understand it, because clearly there was a concept and some creative work done, it was not just AI generated images.

I was one of the people that they replied to and I didn't really say that. I mostly said it didn't look good and that even if there is an intention, there is not any clear concept in the video other than some child walking around digievolving like a digimon and multiplying like a Gremlin (not in this way tho lol) and gave my reasonings. To this day they are still being childish referencing one of the responses they gave to me.

So they were making it with Unreal Engine and scrapped it to use AI? It would be 10000x better.

Yeah. There's even a comparison of the original render vs the AI thing. Which still doesn't look very good but better.

The start of the video seems that still has some CGI on it, although AI-fied.

To be honest, reading this reminded me of situations where at work after weeks working on something I would be told to stop and do some dumb changes to it. I want to believe they just did what they were told but still didn't really enjoy being told to do that.

  4. How Guns N' Roses Used AI to Create Wild New Music Video 'The General'

Design studio Creative Works London turned to Stable Diffusion to create the Guns N' Roses video’s unsettling, dreamlike visuals.

So this article confirms Fernando pushed for this crap.
These guys are still acting and talking about the whole thing like it's something outstanding and out of this world.

I have nothing against them, only about the their unprofessional way of responding to negative reactions.

This website where this was posted is some cryptobro website by the way. Not surprising.

Had this response from the creative works guys - what easter eggs do you think they are referring to?

    Jimi Chialoufas
Was the video initially supposed to be The General and Monsters combined? Hence the constant reference to monsters in the vid and original artwork?

Jimi Chialoufas nope, nothing to do with each other, Monsters tend to appear in children's Nightmares , that's why there are some in there. There's absolutely no hidden references or anything to any other track.

You are part of the problem.

Why would a member of the bands management team be replying to anything related to the company that created the content for the music video.

When has any members of the bands management team been involved in video or animation production?.

Why even bring that into the conversation?.

Given people on social media seem to be giving this company unwanted grief, are they not afforded a right of reply?.

Have you ever considered this behavior might be effecting those people involved personally?.

Do you think they wanted this type of nonsense directed towards them for doing their jobs?.

Place yourself in their shoes, and see the situation from their prespective.

They would be thinking how unhinged a section of the Guns N Roses fan base is, because of a music video...

That's a sad reflection on those people, not the people behind the creation of a music video.

To many people bring baggage into these threads that seems to cloud general common sense..

    Come back to reality please.

    It's only a music video..

As an art director for a clothing brand, when I come across customers complaining online (on that brand's socials) about design choices that were not mine and I had been tasked with completing as per my superior's request, I don't let it bother me.

It's not my brand, not my decisions— I have more important things to focus on.
For work, you have to maintain professionalism, avoid getting carried away with emotions, and refrain from interacting with random people online.

I prefer to observe in silence and take note of constructive criticism, in case there's room for improvement on my end.

So please avoid making statements like this to others without considering that people could actually be in their shoes, understanding the situation, and knowing how to manage it professionally.

    Please come back to reality.

Now that we have at least one song name that could in theory be on a new album in Amen I have to wonder how wise it is to put names out there publicly for songs we may not hear for years if at all. Obviously when you get leaks that are actually named like State Of Grace that's different thing, but knowing about The General for years for example probably helped build it into something that could never live up to the expectations of some. I guess I'd rather know than not know.

I believe that song has the same chances of being on a new album as Argentina from Bumblefoot had.

People are insane. Why even contact the company? Demented (tm) fan base

No. Nobody has contacted them. In my experience, they started replying to comments complaining about the video or just expressing their negative thoughts in a post from Brando's Facebook page.

They also have been arguing with fans who expressed their dislike for the video in the comments section on their social media.

Very unprofessional and amateur. It honestly felt like it was Fernando the one doing that, because it's a very similar behaviour.

If anything, they are the demented ones.

Do you understand the semantic difference between what I actually wrote, which was "I have seen it 5 times now and I like it," and what you claim I wrote "I've seen it 5 times and now I like it"? Read it again if you don't get it.

Do I have to excuse the fact that I wanted to share my opinions on AI? "Feeling the need"? Poor you, having to read someone defending something you don't like. And no, I didn't say anything about the video itself before it was released, I talked about AI in general. I was one of few who reserved judgment on the video itself until it was actually out there.

Gotta say, that's even more weird, liking that and watching it 5 times, but each to their own.

No, honestly I don't think anybody would read those unnecessary walls of text.

Ok, you're right on that, you didn't judge the video back then but still put effort into justifying the use of AI. And now you seem to complaing about people being vocal on this being crap while at the same time you have been very vocal on supporting this.

  10. 6 minutes ago, SoulMonster said:

That was a general discussion on AI before the video had been released and your responses contained way much more text than mine.

I never said I had to watch it five time before I liked it, this is just you being either an asshole or not able to understand.

My responses? You mean those written by an AI?

You were feeling the need to justify the use of AI before watching the video, complaining about people judging the video before watching it while saying very good things about it before watching it yourself. Now you may not write so many walls of text but this thread is filled with you saying pretty much what I said, and yes, you said "I've seen it 5 times and now I like it".

Comments complaining about how shitty, pitiful and unprofessional is for a huge band to deliver this are more needed for people to open their eyes, unless they want to live in a bubble.

Hmmm? There's been quite many posts from people here saying they like it. They just get buried in posts from people who feel the need to repeatedly tell us much they don't like it  If I were to guess I'd say maybe 20% are somewhat positive.

Like you who feel the need to repeatedly tell us via walls of text how much effort was put into this, what a bold move it is, or that you had to watch it 5 times to like it? Sure

Watched it twice. I still love the song but am not a fan of the video. Its hard to watch. That said, I appreciate that they're still doing stuff. They are at least trying to be creative still. At this stage in their careers thats more than a lot of bands can say. You can all debate the level of "trying" theyre doing, but they are trying.

After years of silence, I'm happier with them putting out the occasional thing I dont like than nothing at all.

Come on!!! You only need to watch it 3 more times to like it!!!! GO!

It features a narrative that explores the subconscious of a young boy confronting his dark childhood memories, seamlessly blending different visual worlds. This approach continues Guns N' Roses' tradition of delivering bold and innovative visuals.

    Ahhhhh so...

So, did this child used to take baths and eat after midnight, leading to him multiplying like Gizmo does in the movie Gremlins?
