  1. My city is currently full of demobilized soldiers straight from the war zone. Many of them bring souvenirs – guns, heavy weapons, grenade launchers. very soon our patritos and war heroes discover that in civilian life noone cares about them... Some sell their AKs for couple of bottles of vodka. others join criminal clans to defend their business interests. police on the other hand barely do shit, they are clearly afraid. Kiev used to be a quiet city with relatively low homicide rate. And now it’s full of illegal weapons and mentally unstable people who are willing to use it. In the nearest future it’s only gonna get worse. i imagine law-abiding citizens will be the only ones unarmed. many of them lying in the morgue with a tag on toe wondering where did they go wrong

  2. well excuse me, but Lars Ulrich is not just "some random drummer of some random (shit) metaller band", he is #1 Douchiest drummer of all time according to Village Voice!!

you, people, need to teach your children appreciate true artistic sucess

  3. eh... i can't say for sure. what is swap, Len?

You have my job and i'll have yours, you'll be an estate agent is a provincial shithole just outside London renting properties, carrying out inspections, negotiating sales and rent with landlords and tenants, dealing with the local council, property disputes, carrying out inspections etc. Go on, swap with me, I'll be your best mate forever and ever and ever, i'll give you a bunch of flowers, I'll give you APPLESSS...peaches, bananas and pears!

throw in some glass beads and i'm in

i got a new job. in 2 weeks, im a scriptwriter for TV. and the best part is that i don't have to be in the office. at least not every day

    You'll be working for RT?

are you suggesting RT news are staged wtf :wow:

  4. Indeed, chap. The neckbeard (Collum barbam) is most likely to be found on an internet forum, where it can correct and lecture other internet users about nonsensical things. It tends to have a strong penchant for all things generally considered "nerdy", such as Star Trek, anime, board games and random historical anecdotes that no one really cares about. In real life, its physical appearance is usually either obese or underweight with acne and a ridiculous hairstyle ("it was a mandatory hairstyle for all European armies in the 18th century; I shall continue to wear my ponytail proudly!"). It is also likely to be unemployed or stuck in a dead-end job somehow related to its interests (librarian, clerk at a comic book store, etc). Physical relations with the opposite sex occurs very rarely, if at all.

Underweight with acne and a ridiculous haircut? Shit that sounds like me minus the acne. I was a keen spot popper in my early teens tho!

and some people have the nerve to doubt that man is the crown of God's creation

  5. You realise that the vast majority of foreigners want less US involvement in these situations and not more?

All countries that boarder Russia need more US involvement in their affairs i can assure you - Poland, Baltic countries, Ukraine, etc.

on the other hand, i think that maybe Obama's policy on Russia makes sense. probably it's a good thing that Obama's administration blocks lethal weapons supply to Ukraine and insist on diplomatic solution of the crisis as this resulted in keeping the war localized to 5 % on Ukrainian territory so far. this, and the fact that Ukrainians proved they are going to defend their country no matter what

  6. reminded me of this joke

During ww2, two German spies were sent to England to gather valuable intel. To immerse themselves in the local culture they walk into a pub. The first German says to the barman in an impeccable English accent

    - May I have two Martinis please?

    - Dry? - asked the barman

    - Nein! Zwei! - the second German replied

  7. in any case, there is no way for Greece to maintain the lifestyle they got used to in resent years

i just don't understand why did they feel the need to arrange the referendum circus if they were going to accept most creditors demands couple of days later :shrugs:

  8. Surely depression is a mental illness so you aint in your right mind to make the desicion? Then again is a person riddled with cancer and excruciating pain in their right mind?

it's not a mental illness, it's more like a disorder, as far as i understand it.

in most countries people with depression are not declared mentally disabled. In Soviets those who tried to commit suicide were forced into mental hospitals, but i don't remember hearing compulsory treatment actually cured anyone..

although in some countries attempt to suicide is still a criminal offence, wich is... odd. to put it mildly

  9. well i look at it this way: 40-60% of all people committing suicide are previously diagnosed with clinical depression. if they're determined to kill themselves anyway, why not give them a chance to do it with minimal fear and pain?

and it's not that they are euthanized on first demand. speaking of the girl from the article, they tried to cure her depression for 3-4 years.. maybe that's not long enough, but... i don't know

  10. I hope the Greek people have the balls to say NO. That would be a big fuck you to the banks, to Ángela Merkel, to the Internacional Monetary Fund, to the European "Union" and their fucking Troika hienas, to austerity measures and to the traditional political parties that are rotten and corrupt.

Even if they vote YES things are not going to be better. The Greek people will still be blackmailed and threatened with cruel austerity measures. They will be forced to pay the debt caused by the same corrupt and rotten people who now try to appear as if they had the solutions and the key to go the right way.

They do know that Greece will not be able to pay the debt but neither Europe nor the rest of the gang give a shit about people. They only think of the money and want to force Greece to pay at all cost, even if it means the ruin of the country.

The EU, the Troika, the tradicional and corrupt parties... etc are using the law of fear to manipulate people so that things remain the same and those who caused the crisis are now portraying themselves as heroes and accusing the ones with opposite views of being the villains.

At the end of the day, no matter what happens, the people will suffer the consequences. And once they are done with Greece they will go after Spain, Italy and Portugal, what they call the "Pigs" of Europe.

Do the Greeks not have to take at least a little responsibility for this mess?

of course not! they just wanted to enjoy their lunch break from 12 till 5 pm, close their official institutions at 1 pm, have early retirement (for 580 professions, including hairdressers and radio djs) and make € 80 000 working for loss-making enterprises

Careful. We're all in the same boat on this one.

"But in the event that a negotiated settlement with private creditors is not reached and the country determines that it cannot service its debt, the fund can lend to Ukraine consistent with its lending-into-arrears policy," Lagarde explained.
"Rapid completion of the debt operation with high participation is vital for the success of the program, since Ukraine lacks the resources under the program to fully service its debts on the original terms."
Lagarde had met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko in Washington earlier this week to discuss economic developments and implementation of economic reforms. Bloomberg Business reported that Jaresko has now been in talks with private creditors for months, seeking a write-down of its debts from creditors who had only offered delayed payments.

Until they decide to throw you out of the boat, that is.

it's a bit too late for Ukraine to be careful

but overall the reasons why we are screwed are basically the same: dumb electorate plus populist governments.

Greeks thought don't have civil conflict and foregn agression on their territory, yet

This is the Eurozone, did anyone see the news report yesterday when they were voting?, one woman said

"I've been through wars, occupation, regimes - and this is the worst!"

    :rofl-lol:

  12. I believe on faith alone, I've seen too much to not believe

but if you want to try and place some sort of logic other than there is a God, that there is some supreme power, or being to explain how "this" all happened, some beginning you're only fooling yourself.

An Atheist, the type of atheist that just refuses to believe in any supreme power can babble backwards from here explaining away question after question with scientifcally based big bang, molecule evolution of matter, life, the planets, whatever,

but he always runs into a dead end and can not explain the "beginning"... the very beginning.

And that's where logic, if you have a brain in your head tells you that there has to be some supreme power out there that represents this beginning.

I don't get that. Just because science is not in a position currently (and may never be) to give us a strong model for how everything began, doesn't mean there must be a god :D Some things are just beyond the reach of science, not because they are supernatural, but because science can only work on things for which we can accumulate data and some things are simply too far in history to be subject to science's prodding. So there is no reason to reach for supernatural explanations just because we haven't been able to deduce a naturalistic one, yet. There is no sense in filling in any gaps in what science can explain, with anything supernatural. It's like saying "I don't know exactly what is making that sound I am hearing right now, so it must be the sound of dancing angels!". The word for what you are doing is not logic, but close to its opposite.
What if it works better than anything else for you?

What "works for me" is irrelevant. Just because religion may work for someone doesn't mean gods must exist. Just because it may feel more comfortable to have an explanation on the question on what started it all, and that that explanation works for you, doesn't mean it is true. We have to discern between what is comfortable, and what is correct. I would LOVE to believe in a happy afterlife, but just because I would want it to be true, doesn't make it so.

If you dont know and i dont know and Shades dont know then it sort of does become about what works for each though, no?

But just because we don't know the mechanics of what happened in the beginning, doesn't mean we can't be confident it must have been something completely naturalistic. I see no reason to jump to an improbable explanation, like supernatural entities.

So Shades believes in creation, and you believe in science, what's the difference?

  13. i live way too close to Mordor, i don't think i can afford to not follow the news

Whatcha mean? Is it really fucked up where you're at?

it's fine where im at, but nearest Russian border is just 200 km away and however it seems quite unlikely now, Putin can come over to save Ukraine from Ukrainians practically anytime

Be safe. Much love. For real.

    Thanks Mags

  14. A believer or an atheist with a half brain understands that their vision of the world is insufficient and limited and not equal to the vision of the world of any another person, no matter believer or not. They know they both are so far from the truth that their differences don't really matter.

We are talking about whether gods exist or not. The truth is either: 'yes, they do', or 'no, they don't'. There are no other possibilities. Hence, I don't understand how both positions could be "far from the truth". Either the atheists are right, or the theists are.

how about "i don't know"?

it's partially the problem DD mentioned, people refer to "reason" and "logic", like human brain is a flawless perfect device, knowledge is absolute and science can explain everything. and same "facts" can't get different interpretations. just to mention a few aspects, surely it's more complicated than that

and yes i know you don't understand it. it was discussed many times before

  15. normal people of faith differ from religious fanatics as much as normal atheists differ from militant atheists

A believer or an atheist with a half brain understands that their vision of the world is insufficient and limited and not equal to the vision of the world of any another person, no matter believer or not. They know they both are so far from the truth that their differences don't really matter.

On the other hand, fanatics, religious or anti-religious, think that they know exactly how the world works (or doesn't work) and try to force their bullshit on everyone.

However, anti-religious fanatics usually don't murder anyone in a process, i'll give you that
