Trust me, you're in the majority. Disgusts me to see posters on here downplay the greatness of the AFD lineup and downright insult them by saying they prefer CD era stuff. They're not real fans imo. Axl Slash Izzy Duff and Steven is Guns N' Roses, nothing more, nothing less.
Glad you get to decide who is and isn't a fan.
I prefer AFD to CD, btw. But its equally valid to prefer CD. Its a subjective matter of taste. Who are you to judge?

Sorry if this has been answered already.
Are Slash and Duff back "in" Guns n Roses for good? Meaning another tour, new music, the whole 9 yards.
Or are they just doing this 20-25 city tour to give the fans a fun semi-reunion and to fill up their bank accounts?
Its not been answered. The band has been tight lipped.
I'd imagine even they themselves do not know the answer to that question.
It would be difficult for Axl to do much without them.. not like that has stopped him before.

Just watched SCOM.... Holy fuck, Bunton is like on Buckethead level. Seriously I mean the guy has monster chops on the guitar. More chops than Fortus and Ashba. More attitude than Bumble. Better tone than bucket. Lonnie can also hold his own on guitar. Guys, Adler IS a kick ass band.
I only saw the SCOM clip, but that did not sound like a great band to me. We all have different opinions though.
Edit: just watched Jungle. Yea, steven sound fine on the drums but that singer is really bad. The band is nothing special. I think Steven could find some better mates.

Axl, Slash and Duff, 3 members from the classic lineup, are touring for the first time together since 1993. That's not a continuation to me. As for Slash making changes to songs, so did Bucket. Musicians add their own spin. It's still just covers of songs he didn't write, just like any of the other covers he plays.
Better was has some fairly major changes.
Was it a continuation when Matt replaced Adler or Gilby replaced Izzy or Ashba replaced Finck?

If it was a continuation then why mention it's been 23 years, technically it would only be 2 years since Guns last toured. The band is "continuing" if that's what's meant, but only because Slash and Duff agreed to reunite with Axl. Therefore, I go for reunion. Playing CD songs doesn't make it feel like a continuation either, since Slash is just playing other material as he does with The Who, Floyd or AC/DC at all the same shows. To him these songs are just another cover.
23 years since Axl and Slash... Doesn't say anything about 23 years since a tour. Plus about the CD songs, Slash has made some changes to those songs, and in that sense took a piece of ownership in them as well.
Anyways, its a continuation. Always has been a continuation since Steven was fired, members have come and gone from GnR.
Difference now is that some very prominent members have returned, so in that sense, its understandable that some call it a reunion. To the casual fan, it will appear as a reunion. But we know better.

That version of Sweet Child sounds horrible. Why is Steven degrading himself to play with these guys in what is essentially a GnR tribute band?

I found out yesterday that he wasn't; after a month of watching Guns N' Roses 2016 shows on YouTube.
I thought 'wow, look at Izzy!' 'He's aged well'..
Turns out it's not him.
Ha!
Ironically people used to think the same thing about Gilby.
Richard has been there for 15 years or so.

They make good music. They put on good shows. Whether they like each other as people or not really doesn't matter to me.

i've come to a point where i just can't watch the videos of nuguns anymore. I stumbled on a video of "appetite for democracy" the other day. DJashba was directing the crowd with his weird arm gestures and i couldn't cringe more. everything about that concert looked so wrong. Axl looked like a prat for wanting to perform with these hacks. how i endured this for the last 15 years or so, i'll never know. i guess i just pretended to like it. i went with whatever uncle Axl forced upon us. but those days are over. if and when Axl would fire either Duff or Slash again, then i'm out. that would be it. i couldn't take another 10 years of nonsense.
With Robin they were better. I wasn't that into the DJ era either, but the 2006 shows were amazing.

Its tied with AFD as my favorite Guns N' Roses release. I think songs like TWAT, Better, Madgascar, and Catcher will stand the test of time.
I do wish they would have kept the name 'The Blues'. And for that particular song, I liked what they were doing in 2001/2002 more so than the album.
I'd really love to hear the album as it was during that 2002 era.

imagine the nice swing he could bring to the UYI and CD songs
but again, I don't see him as an upgrade to Frank. I respect Steven for his drumming on AFD. That doesn't mean I think he belongs in the band 30 years later.

Not sure what people expect of a 54 year old Axl Rose. I think he is doing good. You can tell he was somewhat annoyed by the paparazzi, but who wouldn't be. At least he played along.

Truth. Duff is the MVP behind the scenes.
And he has writing credits, does nice background vocals, can play all the material without question, is definitely sober. Plus the man just oozes punk rock. Duff is awesome.
Steven has a nice swing on the AFD album, but I don't see him as a major upgrade to Frank nor do I see him as someone who can be counted on.

lol at those who think Duff and Adler are of equal importance.
Duff is likely the most important factor in getting these shows to happen.

Well the band has existed with various lineups since 1985, and I presume it will continue to do so until Axl retires.
This lineup? It's GnR, so you never know. Enjoy it while you can. I'm sure many of us remember the dark periods of 2003-2005.

I miss Bumblefoot. Axl should kept him in the band, Slash and Bumblefoot would be perfect combo for old and not so old tracks.
I think Bumblefoot left on his own accord..

Honestly, every one in the band other than Axl is probably a 'hired hand'.. (i.e. they are paid by GnR to perform), although I think it's better to just call them band members. 'hired hand' seems to be used more as a way to undermine or degrade the member's role in the band.
The band is awesome right now and everyone in the band, in my opinion, should be regarded as a full fledged member of Guns N' Roses. They've earned the respect, IMO.

I used to wonder the same thing. Axl would introduce the rest of the band, usually before the drum solo. I never knew if it was a slight or if Slash needed no introduction.

Yea its so ridiculous. People like madison dont think for one second, that a real reunion might not even work and could destroy it all, maybe. They dont think that what we have now can be a stable thing and that duff and slash apparently are more than fine with how the band looks right now.
its very childish behaviour, but no surprise, seeing where its coming from
Dude, madison lives in her own reality. She either reads things wrong most of the time or twists words around to suit what she wants. Maybe both. Not meant to be insulting, but it's true. Even Axl himself has called out her bullshit.

Not sure why the fact that Richard was brought into Guns N' Roses back in 2002 and that it was acknowledged in a few shows is at all controversial.
But again, this is GnR fans we are talking about, and there will always be a vocal minority who will complain no matter what. Probably all bands have fans like this.. just whiny, unhappy people.
That's fine. These shows have been amazing.

The CD songs are Guns N' Roses songs, so naturally, they are included in a Guns N' Roses show. I know some people don't see it this way, but that's how it is.
Slash has clearly been given the green light to adjust the songs to his style. So in that sense, he gets ownership in some of these songs too.
-
If the tempo is rushed, do you really think that would be Frank's decision alone? Like Axl, Slash, and Duff have no say in that?
-
Loving the This I Love solo... wasn't too impressed with it in Vegas, but I think Slash has it down now.

People are going to make jokes but this is why Buckethead and Robin left (inability to release new music) and strong contributing factors to why Bumblefoot left.
I wish Pitman all the best. I really enjoyed Lusk and to a lesser extent Sextapes.
Are there any statements from those guys stating that is why they left?
It could very well have been a factor. I think Robin left because he got his job back in NIN while GNR was on a break..
Why not a GNR/ACDC Super Bowl half time show?

The NFL isn't interested in featuring a rock n roll band for the halftime show.
Remember a few years ago when the Chili Peppers had to come on as guests for some pop culture loser? They weren't even plugged in.
In a perfect world, bands with the stature of Chili Peppers, Metallica, Ac/Dc, and Guns N Roses would be headlining the super bowl. Problem is, the Super Bowl doesn't want those bands. They want pop culture, mainstream bullshit.
