Considering how low Scott's voice was I bet Axl could tear up some of VR's better songs.

But he called him a wig wearin' fuck.... not sure he wants to channel that.

At their age, they may all have wigs or hair extensions.

But as far as VR.. I'm not sure most of those songs as they are suit Axl's voice.    But I'm happy to be proven wrong.

If they're going to play Axl's music then Axl should sing Slash's music. It's really only fair because even though Axl's stuff was released under the GNR name, it wasn't with the original core guys. Slash and Duff had nothing to do with that material just as Axl had nothing to do with Fall to Pieces.

But if you think about it, I'm sure there are GnR songs that Slash and Duff play that they didn't have anything to do with writing that feature on older albums.    Just as Axl sings songs he didn't write.

I'm not going to complain if they pull out VR song or something, but the CD songs are technically part of the GNR catalogue, so it makes more sense that they are being played.. and Slash gets to add his own stamp to them now.   Seems like a win-win for all.

He's been in the band for 3 shows.  Anything between the years of '94 to 2015 is null and void and nothing to do with Guns N' Roses.

That's kind of delusional, but OK.

You can believe whatever you want.   If you want to forget the last 20 years existed, that's fine.     Doesn't change the fact that Frank joined the band in 2006.   He's done a helluva job too.

  4. Frank is an excellent drummer, and after seeing them live this weekend, I am even more convinced that Axl was right to keep him on board.

No disrespect meant for drummers past, but Frank is the drummer for this era of GnR.

I really really love the core band of Slash, Duff, Fortus, and Frank.

  5. Still curious why he was replaced after 20 years of service in the band.    Must have been something big.. or maybe Axl just wanted to change it up..

Maybe Slash and Duff didn't like him?   Chris seemed to think he was involved at first.     Could have been a place of compromise.. (I can get rid of Chris because there this girl Melissa who has done some work behind the scenes who could easily replace Chris).

  6. Guns N' Roses will always be the band where Slash did his best stuff and where he got the notoriety he enjoys today.

Its a shame it took this long for him to come back, but this is where he will always be at his best.

If it weren't for "AFD5 mullet head purists" you would never have this regrouping in the first place.  And if you think it was nuGNR fans who kept this band alive and relevant for the past 20 years, you're delusional.

Some of us appreciate all eras of GnR.

Shouldn't be anymore reason for us vs them.

Slash and Duff get to rejoin the band which is great for everyone, and by including some CD material, they help lend some legitimacy to that era of Guns while at the same time adding their own stamp to it.

Should be a win win for everyone.

Yes, but that group does not make up the bulk of the general population. Guns N' Roses does not appeal to the majority of teenagers and young adults anymore..times have changed. It is good to know that casual rock fans are going to the concerts though.

Us middle aged and older fuckers have more buying power than the millennials and teenagers tho.    You are right, GnR isn't going to be all that appealing to the kids.    They can have their justin bieber bullshit.

The general public doesn't care about Guns N' Roses (this isn't 1992 - Guns N' Roses doesn't have current hits on the charts). Guns N' Roses fans care about Guns N' Roses, and a lot of them want the original lineup.

I think many folks 30-50 who are casual rock fans are excited about seeing GnR again with the core members.

I live in Las Vegas, and I'm acquainted with several folks who have tickets for tomorrow night who most likely do not have accounts here or follow GnR closely, they only know that Axl and Slash are performing together and they either never had a chance to see them in the 90s or haven't seen them since then.

Apparently. Totally forgot about that. Having said that what's the actual reason. I'm sure we'd all like to know. Did his physical limitations happen before or after he was told he wouldn't be the guy.

My understanding is that Frank was always set to be the drummer but it was rumored that they were looking to give Adler a guest spot for a song or two, much like Izzy has done the last few years.

Who knows, maybe he will still guest on the tour.     I don't expect it.

But with Axl, Slash, Duff, Dizzy, you have 4/6 of the UYI lineup and Richard and Frank have both been in the band playing these songs for years, so.. this should be a solid touring lineup.    Definitely better than the DJ Ashba era.

Oh please. The entire tour has been hyped and promoted as GNR appearing onstage for the first time in 23 years. This is the ONLY reason it can book stadiums - Otherwise, it would be small arenas and clubs.

Last time I checked, it had not been 23 years since Frank last played.

You can play word semantics all you like. But at the end of the day, fans are buying tickets to see the guys who CREATED this music - not another replacement lineup.

That is absolutely incorrect.    You are looking for things that aren't there or reading things wrong.  I don't know.    The press release says straight up that its Axl, Slash, and Duff.

BTW, Frank is an awesome drummer.

    Here, read this.    http://www.gunsnroses.com/news/title/not-in-this-lifetime-tour

    NOT IN THIS LIFETIME TOUR

LOS ANGELES (April 1, 2016) - Following months of intense rumor, speculation and feverish excitement from rock music fans around the world, Guns N' Roses confirmed today they will embark on a massive North American summer stadium tour as founder Axl Rose and former members, Slash and Duff McKagan regroup for what will be one of the century's most anticipated musical events.

See ya there dude.  7:30 reservations.  Hopefully the Elvis table in the back right.  I fucking love that they still bring the food out with those shiny metallic domes over them and shit.  I get Pavlovian in my excitement for Vegas every time I see them.

Another recommendation, which I may have mentioned before.  The Double Down Saloon over by the Hard Rock.  It's the shittiest, dungiest, grungiest bar I've ever been to in my life. It's also one of the few honest to goodness underground llve heavy metal bars you can still find anywhere.  I think there are shows there most of the nights coming up.  Most of the bands come in from Cali and shit to play there.   I've seen guys get blown right in the middle of the bar, people go to the bathroom in groups and come out with their eyes rolling back in their heads while scratching their arms, chicks take matches, fold them over their nipple rings and set them on fire, you name it.  Anyway, if you anywhere near the Hard Rock late one night, check it out.

It's a festering shithole.  You'll all love it!

My wife and I went there on our first date.    Ass Juice!

I don't think this stadium tour is going to go over too big...   As much as people get all bent out of shape of people being critical. the criticism is warranted.. This lineup with Punky Brewster and friends isn't what people wanted.. Especially for these ticket prices.. I had all these people interested so I got 6 good tickets this morning.. I am on the phone with Live Nation now trying to return them.. No one wanted them.

What if these shows in 2016 are the only chance we ever get to see Axl, Slash, and Duff perform together again?
