The issue is Axl doesn’t seem to accept his voice is deteriorating and doesn’t do anything to make the situation better for himself. Think about some of the things he could do, that other bands do, that he doesn’t:

    Lower the songs keys.

Getting heavier backing vocals to be able to rest on a few high notes.

Release new music with songs easier to sing to fill out the set.

Change the style of singing (something he only did when he absolutely has to)

Change the set to include easier/slower songs and only going for highs on the absolute hits.

Instead, Axl has been adding songs like Black in Back, Coma nightly, Reckless Life, rehearsing stuff like TWAT, Hard Skool. All things cool to see but extremely irresponsible considering the current state of his voice. I’m sure he does some warm ups and warm downs, I’m sure he’s aware his voice is rough, and I feel deeply for anxiety- but quite simply, Axl does not take care of his voice and does himself no favors. It’s as bad of a state as it’s in mostly due to him and him alone. Age is inevitable- work with it instead of against it.

I think it’s mostly a case of pride. He wants to still “sing” the way he used to, not do talk singing like slither on every song. It’s admirable, but also pretty sad to listen to most of the time since 2017.

  2. Hard Skool (cringe every time I write that) is the cheesiest shit officially under the Guns name. Took all of the punch and soul from the CD era version, which is actually a killer track. You could list 10+ things far and away better on the original version. Christ. What a shit stain on the GNR catalogue. And let’s not act like Absurd is gonna stand the test of fuckin time…

Axl’s voice simply isn’t what it used to be. That’s fine. It’s life. But why is he making himself sing AC/DC songs again, Coma, practicing TWAT, etc. That’s the part I don’t understand.

AC/DC songs require a certain grit. He has the power and tone for Back in Black still but honestly the song without rasp just doesn’t work. It’s a shame because the band is super tight on it and I think Slash specifically plays it very well.

He always takes on the challenge, which is cool, but also some self awareness would be nice

Really? I thought exactly the opposite. I thought he came across abysmally and made himself seem very unlikable. I read the original version though, and he's clearly edited out all the nasty comments about the band members as well as other stuff.

I read the original, from when he left the Cult to the end. Seems he’s just telling his side of the story, and his true feelings. The raw stuff about slash and duff being passive on everything and enabling Axl. Think everyone’s just use to the tip towing around anything related to Guns. Just makes everyone uncomfortable lol. Slash saying the reunion is just a gig, Duff saying the drummer can’t drum but also not being able to look Matt in the eye and tell him the real truth. I know Matt’s got an ego himself but just sounds like someone actually talking the realities of the GNR camp for once

I have no opinion on this as a whole but I read through her Twitter and she says her and Axl were a couple and she knew all the guys in GN'R etc. She doesn't have one picture with any of them, ever? That's weird to me. I still have pics of all my exes and their friends and I've been married for 18 years 😅 Is she claiming to be Michelle from My Michelle? Cause we all know that's bs.

She also said Duff ignored her at a show recently and that Axl sang her song recently in her presence. I dunno.. It's weird. And she keeps asking them all to 'make it right'.. How? What would make such a thing right?

No, she denies that question about My Michelle probably on a daily basis. And her story is that in the 90s when she was seeing a therapist heavy about the situation, the therapist urged her to package together all of her photos and send them to Axl as a form of letting go or some shit. I mean yeah the guys are all gonna ignore her if this story is true. We’ll never know.

I never read her forum posts. But I did do a minor deep dive into her video journal style videos. My personal hunch, giving any and all things we’ve heard over the decades regarding Axl, and just the mostly scummy vibes of the strip in the 80s, and the fact that axl was raped himself as a toddler, not sure what he “knew” about those episodes in the mid 80s.. but yeah I lean like 60/40 in believing she’s telling more truth than lies.

He does - he's even typed out the below review.

He's a strange one though.  I don't feel it's devious or malicious in any way.  It's fan fiction, but his lists seem to blur the reality with his fiction.

ROLL ON 2 U: Nice rnr track, think of "Outta Get Me" but without all that energy and magic. Nice.

FEELIN' IT: Seems like a good rnr single. Finally, a riff. Superb. Gem of the album. Powerful sound (finally!!). Possible brand new single; first brand new unheared song since 2008.

CASINO NIGHT ZONE: First piano driven song of the album. Rapping Axl returns for a few seconds. Maybe, the first GNR song ever to have a "techno" echo. Very short song but my personal fav.

ELVIS: Think of a "Sorry" lil brother. Nice, angry vocals. Darkest song of the album and that cellos are LOUD for a little moment. 7/10 if you ask me.

OMG: Heaviest song of the album. Almost like screamo Rose on steroids. Buckethead guitar in the background???? Powerful.

ATLAS: Filler. Not as happy as "Casino Night Zone" and not even in the league of "Catcher In The Rye". Interesting intro. 5/10 if you ask me. The Sean Beaven mix was much better.

7: Yes. Yes. YES. This is the quality I was waiting for! EPIC SONG. 10/10. Think of a mix between "Circus Maximus", "D Tune", "Curly Shuffle" and "Poison Heart". I MEAN, FREAKIN' REALLY. AXL, WHAT WAS YOU THINKING WHILE YOU DISCARDED THIS SONG FOR "CHINESE DEMOCRACY"?! WHY YOU PUT "SCRAPED" INSTEAD?! Oh, you need serious help, Axl Rose. Tears on my eyes. Really.

ABSURD!: Second filler. Released as a single. I prefer the 1999 vers.

EL HERMANO: If "Absurd!" is the "Scraped" of this album... This is the "Riad N' The Bedouins". Really nice guitars; little vocals. Maybe, it works very fine as an opener (And put "Roll On 2 U" as track 9; switch places). 3:39 of heavy rock. Hm. After all... It's a new song. Who cares?!

GENERAL: Another "Sorry" little brother. I really see "Elvis" / "Sorry" / "General" like the same batch of melodies, I don't know. Interesting track. Rose vocals not powerful as in "Absurd!" or "Feelin' It". Where is that "grinding riff"?! Sebastiannnnn. Last heavy/dark song of the album.

PERHAPS: Third piano driven song of the album after "Casino Night Zone" and "7". A certainly great upgrade over the 1999 vers. It's dark but with a bit of hope. I like it, I love it!

HERE TODAY: Duff vocals. If "Perhaps" is night; "Here Today" is the dawn or the sunrise. Lovely track; maybe even epic song. Think of a mix between "Misunderstood" and "Crazy" by Aerosmith. I don't know. Just freakin' magic. It's a song of love, sure but it hurts... Still hurts. Beach, sunrise/sunset. I don't know how to describe it. I really love it. 10/10.

RIDERS OUT OF SIGHT: EPIC. YES. YES, LAST EVER ROSE MASTERPIECE OF ALL TIMES. Start like a dark song, like an uninspired "Patience", slow, but later on... I REALLY LOVE YOU AXL. MAN. YOU'RE THE GREATEST FRONTMAN OF ALL TIME. AFTER ALL THIS TIME, THE THING IS THAT WE LOVE YOU, MAN. "NOVEMBER RAIN" / "ESTRANGED" / "RIDERS OUT OF SIGHT". LOVE YOU, MAN. LOVE YOU AS A STARFUCKER. Tears in my eyes again. We are so fortunate to live in this world. Really.

Axl, how beautiful life is while you're in the world.

HARD SKOOL: The great finale. 90's rock and roll style, let's go!! End of the journey. It was a nice ride, right? Like "Roll On 2 U", this is a great direct rock and roll. And life is this.

If you believe that you are a seriously gullible person and I hope those closest to you check up on you regularly so you don’t go giving people $500 in gift cards

The Grail for me is still all the unreleased Marc Canter recordings… has he ever said why he won’t release those? I know it’s for legal reasons but is he still at odds with Axl over the Reckless Road book?

Legal issues and they’re still on the rocks yeah

I think the show on 12/29/2001 had some technical problems that Axl wasn't too pleased about. At one of the shows he said that it was the first one he truly wanted to do since the 90's, implying he wasn't that enthused about the previous 2001 shows. Also interesting that after all the criticism of Axl looking "fat" in January, he shows up in December in the best shape of his life with washboard abs that he was clearly willing to show. It amazes me how much different he looked in 2002. I feel like he would've gotten a much better reception in 2002 if he kept the 2001 look instead of wearing hip-hop fashion.

Still waiting to see those ‘washboard’ abs.
