Robin usually uses 2-note chords (not a guitar player so don't know if I'm using the right terminology) in his solos. He also plays in phrases (he describes it as taking a breath)
-
maybe when NEW rock music was still being made and popular in the mainstream
-
I like his more chilled out stuff.Coat of Charms (the whole album)Colma (the song Whitewash in particularly)Electric TearsFinal Bend of the Labyrinth (the whole thing)Infiniti Hill (more alternative rock influenced than chilled)Monument Valley
-
I remember reading something said by Axl that he canned the material after slash left because no one could play those riffs like he did
-
The new album is called MayPac II. Confirmed.

TWAT:
"It was a bargain for the summer and i thought I had it all.
I was the one who gave you everything."
The way he sings it (the lowering of notes, especially on "for the summer) just makes it sound so sad and I love it
I also like his voice on the demos of the title track (where his harmonies are mostly not there). The way he sings the verses has a sarcastic quality to it (which he has never sang the same way live ever), and the chorus sounds so angry
-
I would dig a song with Axl & Kanye (as long as Axl only sings and doesn't rap). Ex: he does the chorus (as most singer rapper duos do) and he does a bridge.
Hell, bring Bucket in to do some cool killswitch stuff throughout song (in place of normal digital sample effects)

Very lazy of them to choose so many songs from the Tokyo gig that was already released.
Wasnt Del chosen to go through as many shows as possbile to find the tracks? Eneded up running out of time, getting pressure from the label?
Maybe some shows were sonically better than others.
For ex: All the shows that were commercially released (tokyo and yesterday's) sound way better than Coma's (off a show in Ohama). On Coma the drums are very echo-y and quiet, the lead and rhythm guitars are centered (not hard panned to either side as it should be). Axl's voice sounds like it has some post processing on it (besideds the effect on the album version, some noise reduction possibly) the bass guitar isn't centered (maybe track waveforms weren't lined up correctly)

A good (catchy) song for a good movie's soundtrack

I usually only listen to the leaked version mainly because of brain's drums. They pack more punch than franks boring drums. It would fit if it were brain's drums where they are frantic rhythm
-
where did that poster (we now believe even more...) originate from?

Say that there was some interview and 'Better' was played starting after the end of the first solo where the riff where axl always gets pumped up (in concerts) starts (I hope you know where I'm talking about).
Would he recognize it or any other song if was an instrumental version?
Another (unrelated) question:
Have you heard this mashup of Slither & If The World?
What are your thoughts on it?
If Slash & Axl ever reunited, do you think either of them would be open to playing it live?
-
There was a Heartbreak Hotel released in mostly high fidelity (as opposed to shitty studio demo quality that have no highs) on a compilation album that credited the members singularly, but not as GNR (to actually release it i suppose)
I've only heard 1 version of shadow of your love, one of them was a pitch lower, and the other one was the one that ended up on the live ep with the overdubbed crowd. Both the same take but just altered pitch
Edit: found it

4th track
Also, you could count the TSI instrumental tracks that had Izzy playing on them (vs gilby) but they obviously werent 'GNR' songs

Same vocal performance as the 6/4, only you can hear him clearer without all the echo and singing fans (which IMO made him sound better by masking his weaker falsetto on verses)
-
IIRC windows 8 had some minor performance (in gaming) increases over win7

Too many (rhythym) guitars at one time (4 or 5 on CD, Riad, CITR, TWAT, IRS, Prositute) Needs only 2 guitars hard panned to either side to sound less cluttered.
When you add more guitars into the mix, you compensate for the louder levels by lowering all the guitar volumes, whoch make it sound quieter than it should have been.
Guitar volumes shouldn't be messed with.
Orchestra/Piano should be louder on all songs.
Too much Pitman shit
Electronically changing the sound of the drums (snare and kick drum (you can barely hear the double kick drum part on prostitute where as in antiquiet version there is a satisfying thump. Better has weird echo thing added to snare, toms are never loud, Ferrers kick drum parts on better sounds like there are 2 overplayed kick drums)
Adding Ferrer's drums.
Bass seems EQ'd, can only hear rumble and not actual bass notes (plucking strings and all)
Axl's vocals raised half a step on IRS and TWAT (or were lowered half a step on early demos)
Splicing/looping of vocals is messy
Pitch correction should've simply been rerecorded vox spliced in.
Auto tune of band backing vocals
Vocal double tracking sucks
Drums shouldn't be electronic in anyway
Guitars shouldn't be messed with in anyway (minor pitch correction on some solos, shortening of Fincks sustain on TWAT. IRS guitar volumes are a mess, Riad guitars start loud then are drastically lowered in 2nd verse, Better and CD guitar volumes gradually fade.)

I think any new GNR performance that is mentioned is only considering the vocals. In that case, I do think Nightrain RAR 06 is a very good one, as well WTTJ (not the best, but certainly worth mentioning)
-
Was Tobias the first lead part in Maddy? He always played that one live, then Fortus played it.
-
Shoulda got Duff to play bass on ghost. The songs bass line sucks
-
I like buckets more mellow songs like Coat of Arms and Monument Valley.
-
I hope the new Izzy stuff is similar to his last single "Upside" great riff
-
Brownstone sounds like Izzy to me. Rocket queen sounds like slashes UYI live tone (which is shit compared to studio tone)
I always wondered if Axls redubs would sound good if thybwerent filtered at all. It sounds unnaturally EQd and leveled

Brownstone sounds like Izzy to me
How Often Do You Listen to 'The Guys' Now?
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS

I listen to Better (mostly the album version but sometimes the 2006 leak because that mix is soo much better but so low quality + brain's unaltered drums are better), the antiquiet version of prostitute (punchier/better mix, but sadly has a quieted Finck's guitar part in the 1st verse type section), and There Was A Time (album) daily. The Slash tracks I listen to are By The Sword, Promise Me, and I Hold On if they come on shuffle. I listen to Bucket's mellow stuff (Coat of Charms, etc.) once a week. Argentina and Little Brother is Watching from BBF when it comes on my shuffle.
