  1. If they play the "hits" and have a cool guest, they'll basically get away with whatever else they do, as they'll be enough for a highlight reel to remember their slot for... Most artists seem to play their new stuff too...like AM last night. Elton won't though and GNR somewhere in-between would be nice....but stick a well known track in ever 3,4 songs and we'll hopefully be ok. I hope the sound engineer has a secret rasp button he accidentally switches on tonight....maybe that's what they were developing in the Norway studio šŸ˜†
  2. Yea I was thinking Pink or some female star like Carrie (although not her, she's busy). That would be a good idea and get some good press, considering the moaning of "not enough female representation this year! - Apparently Guns took Swifts place anyways. I echo all your points and certainly wouldn't be against shorter if better quality....Yes! Bandana needs to make a comeback at some point.... I think because of the media "intrusion" of this show is gonna be gigantic in the UK...we've gotta be ready for all the GNR are out of date and misogynistic, with full prints of lots of lyrics and saying how this is "innapproriate" in 2023 and also used as argument on the lack of woman debate. Let's face it, as soon as he starts Easy and stuff like Pretty Tied Up and pointing to his crotch, there's gonna be a backlash...that he's promoting sexual assaults and all kindas random shit! Chill press. It's just a song. So they better sound good otherwise, the press will resort to rippin them to shreds In multiple articles....still if they drop a decent single, bad press is still awareness and clicks, so might do them a favour to be "controversial" again....It's gonna be so weird to have a band we love suddenly come to the mainstream again tonight...there's gonna be lot of people seeing them tonight that long forgot they existed! šŸ˜‚
  3. Let's play the fantasy set list game. What would yours be tonight? Based a little in reality of what could happen in an ideal world. It's likely to be close to what we've been getting but just a bit of fun... Dream set list....(26-32 songs set) 1. Down On The Farm 2. Easy 3. Jungle 4. Bad Obsession 5. Don't Damn Me 6. LALD (w McCartney) 7. Pretty Tied Up 8. My Michelle 9. Estranged 10. Double Talking Jive 11. Dust N Bones (with Duff) 12. Slither 13. Anything Goes 14. Bad Apples 15. Shadow 16. November Rain (w Elton) Acoustic set. 17. You're Crazy (Slow) 18. Used To Love Her 19. Patience 20. Sweet Child 21. Heavens Door (Old Skool version) 22. IRS 23. Civil War 24. Chinese Democracy 25. Night Train Encore 26. Brownstone 27. Nice Boys 28. Rocket Queen (Album version) 29. Don't Cry 30. Paradise (w Dave Grohl & Freese)
  4. This was exactly what I've had in mind and given me a little more confidence that whatever the band can give, should sound just about as good as it'll ever sound. It should be the best love recording, production wise we have since 2016! The only improvement, would be a properly produced live record/Blu-ray with months of post-production....
  5. Loads of rubbishing this and telling us we were all barking up the wrong tree and then saying anyone that logically thought this was something had a "lower IQ"...if signs like this (different to the stretches of the truth on other information past rumours I'd say...pretty big deal seeing Axl in a studio and with Slash...) And if Guns don't come good, they'll be the only illogical ones in the building (again!). Listen, I understand why but don't insult fans, be angry with a band that has let you down so often that new music would literally have to slap you in the face before you believe it! This is new (old) music....the only question I'd say now is... When? Hopefully while the iron is hot, like many of us saying. At the end of Glastonbury or a few days after... Should be an excited 72 hours (if this is what it appears to be) https://metalinjection.net/upcoming-releases/in-the-studio/looks-like-guns-n-roses-is-in-the-studio Good update article with all relevant new track quotes over last couple of years https://blabbermouth.net/news/photo-of-slash-and-axl-rose-in-studio-leads-to-speculation-about-new-guns-n-roses-music#google_vignette
  6. I like "The Car"....think it's pretty brave to stick the middle finger up at your devout fan base, not just once but twice! The latest LP has some dreamy type moments....tonight was ok but quite slow and patchy for that slot. His voice was also suffering a bit too IMO.
  7. Bad Apples has been soundchecked, is that correct? The way Axl keeps saying "Boiiiiiii" of late on stage which he does also at the end of that song, leads me to believe it'll be played at some point or at least he's rehearsed/listened to it of late... Thoughts?
  8. They've been slowing the tempo of the old tunes for almost 10 years now, as a style.choice. Alex changed his voice, to try and sound like a crooning Bowie and get away from the early rock....on record I actually like some of the new album. It's got some classy production, as an alt. Album.
  9. He can't hit any of the high notes due to his illness....he was hitting them the other week, so that's clear....falsetto must be hard with laryngitis. Also they tend to play a lot of their newer tunes and the jury is out on that....sure they'll end on the classics though. It does benefit GNR to have a first night 6/10 set though, that's for sure!
  10. I think you can tell his voice has suffered from the illness....usually takes 2 weeks to recover from acute laryngitis and he's back on stage in 5 days, probably hasn't spoken all week. His voice is usually a bit stronger than that to be fair.
  11. How many artists would change their entire set list (he's done the same show all tour, with zero changes...) Around especially for one gig like he is doing for this one. He knows it'll be a historic moment and will be repeated long after he departs....
  12. Well you go to a general, non-specific festival looking for variety....šŸ‘‰ there ya go! One year post Woodstock and it's carried the mantel ever since....
  13. Different sets ups for different bands I would imagine ...if not, well we'll be getting lots of close up angles!
  14. If like some say, Axl is holding back reserves, to preserve what's left...this is a night where he should go FUCK IT. I'm pushing this as far as I can. I'm not expecting miracles though....
  15. Anyone just seen Sharleen Spiteri and Texas's set? Not a huge fan or anything but that's the best she's sounded in a long time. You've only to listen to that Interview she just gave on BBC how emotional she was and genuinely in awe of the festival....nice to see.
  16. Who's watching the Monkeys tonight? Surround sound, some cool bears...getting into the mood. This might end up being the biggest show thread in a while šŸ™‚
  17. The BBC will ask Slash, Duff and Axl for interviews....think we'll get any? Can see the former doing one, small chance Axl may do one on this special occasion....saying all thsrz we'll probably get Dizzy and Frank pushed out to do one!
  18. Gabriel's on BBC2 now...what a voice! Doing the kilt so Axl doesn't have to also šŸ˜‰šŸ¤Ŗ
  19. I'd take an EP of reworked Chinese leftovers (scratch that itch, we can stop talking endless about those title) followed by a fresh album composed by current lineup in next 2 years...(realistic)
  20. Same. Got it coming out of 5.1. the Foo's set mixed will be in later too. Will be brilliant to hear again! Artists are known to raise their game and give their best sets...it's a bit healthy competition backstage to who got the best crowd, press, etc. I hope Guns are feeling competitive! šŸ˜‰
  21. Plus it was like a who's who's side stage watching the Foo's...how many other festivals do artists actually turn up early to watch their peers and mix in, as oppose to appearing 10 mins before your due on and then getting the cheque and fucking off...? Not many!
  22. If Dave does anything with Guns tomorrow, maybe he can bring Josh along too, have a quiet tap on Frank's shoulders, to move aside for a couple ...šŸ“ŗ
