Well in my opinion the chorus of Hard Skool could have easily been on AFD and overall the song has a UYI vibe. Now if Slash can come up with another Anastasia or Wicked stone then ok. But based off Slashs recent first singles: driving rain, world on fire and you're a lie, I really don't expect this first single to be as good as Hard Skool. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong though as I absolutely love slash and prefer seeing SMKC live over GNR due to the overall energy and vibe.

As much as I love SMKC, I just know it won't top Hard Skool. I think it would be a bad idea to release his new single so close to HS. People will realise you simply can't beat that old gnr sound

So much difference in opinion on this album it's starting to get quite entertaining reading it all. I thought the album was great, just a bit pissed they are not coming to Ireland. Serve you right is such a f#cking awesome rock song and The great pretender will never get old imo. Roll on the next album (hopefully gnr)

I agree it's far more difficult to only choose 5 SMKC songs than to choose 5 VR.
VR:
1. Messages
2. Dirty Little Thing
3. Fall to Pieces
4. Slither
5. Don't Drop that Dime
SMKC:
1. Anastasia
2. Not for me
3. Beneath the Savage Sun
4. The Great Pretender
5. Serve you right
6. The Unholy
7. Crazy Life
8. Starlight
9. 30 Years to Life
....I could go on

Man that Antidote solo is sick.
Really diggin' it
Hurray, something positive! The amount of negative comments on here is really sickening. Go look at the YouTube comments of these new songs. The majority of people love it. Because it's new rock music. No one is ever going to sound like old GNR. Not even GNR themselves. Please attend a SMKC gig and tell me it's not a good ol rnfr. I enjoyed it way more than present GNR and I much prefer GNR to SMKC.

It's strange. Only 3 days until release and no sign of a leak. If my memory is correct, Apocalyptic love and World on fire both leaked like a week or more before release. Still will obviously buy Living the dream as I love all Slash material but always like a sneaky listen to before release

I was only 1 year old. Great memories indeed lol.
Would have loved to been a teen back then and being so hyped for the album's
Anyone have good stories to tell about their experience getting them?

Another review. Not what I was hoping for.
Also, just heard the snippet for "My Antidote". I'm just not sure about the sound on this album. The guitar sounds kind of fake. Obviously this has to do with Slashs different approach of recording this album digitally.

This review seems extremely positive. Looking forward to hearing "Lost Inside the Girl", as it is apparently very similar to Myles' solo album stuff.

Thanks. Hoping they play call of the wild, my antidote or serve you right as they are by far the best songs compared to driving rain and mind your manners.

Call of the Wild definitely my favourite so far.

It's really strange, he played 2 small shows in Ireland before back to back and both sold out fast.
Next time he upgraded to an arena and had a huge crowd there.
This time he has no Irish date at all and small shows around Europe.
I think somebody is misjudging the band's popularity.
I find it so strange too. I've been to all Slash shows here in the north and south of Ireland and all were packed out and amazing. Especially the 3arena concert which was almost sold out and the band were so surprised at how awesome our support was. Was even at Myles solo gigs too. Please come to Ireland guys

I'm in the same boat as you. I prefer "the rockers" but still want a couple of ballads on an album. Slash, be it with The Conspirators, Snakepit or VR, has been constantly pumping out rockers for years now and ultimately keeping rock alive and fresh, for me anyways. So for that, Slash deserves massive credit and if there will be a new GNR album, I want plenty of rockers.

Musically, VR wins in all departments.

Absolutely loving "Mind your manners". Hoping the album is more like this. Love the upbeat stuff Slash produces like "Shots fired" and "Hard and fast". Would blow peoples minds if Axl made a surprise appearance on the album.

Of course you cant compare SMKC shows (in terms of popularity or media attention) to GNR... In Argentina 40000 people attended GNR shows (at least), and 3000/5000 SMKC...
I also would love to see more Snakepit and VR songs being played!
SMKC completely packed out the 3 arena here in Dublin which has a capacity of 13,000. It was one of the best concerts I have been to. Enjoyed it more than the 2 times I seen GNR. To me GNR live sounded like they were completing chores for the audience. Which is understandable. SMKC just sounded more like a hard rock and roll band. Still loved GNR live though. And I agree I would love more Snakepit songs live.

For me, DR is a better song than WOF.
I'd rank them:
1. You're A Lie
2. Driving Rain
3. World On Fire (never cared for this song at all)
This version is much better. But I agree that driving rain is better than WOF.
I don't think the reunion will affect Slash fans. Might actually attract more. I much prefer Slashs live performances with Myles. He just seems to enjoy it more.

Haven't been able to find a working link for the song yet and the Swedish Spotify release is on Wednesday but I'm stoked for this song and album!
Love some SMKC.
Song needs a few listens. It's pretty f#ckin awesome!

People always expecting Slash to recreate something that is like GNR or Snakepit 1. Remember Axl created Chinese Democracy which was a massive let down. Stop having unrealistic expectations as you will have a life of letdown. "You're a lie" was a single for Apocalyptic love yet we got tracks like "Anastasia" and "Not for me". Just look at the positive. Another tour from Slash to give the world an opportunity to witness the legend.

[NEW ALBUM DISCUSSION THREAD] Gibson Launches Record Label, to Release Slash Album Next Year

Yea I never thought about by the sword, which is a really great song. However we are talking about the singles with SMKC, which have all been quite generic and no where near the quality of the other songs on the albums. So it's fair to say that his new single, if he follows the same trend he has been doing with SMKC, will simply not be as great as HS. On the album as a whole, I am hoping it returns to the likes of Apocalyptic Love. Todd seriously needs lead vocals on a song!
