  1. Unholy and Battleground seem to be the "epics" based on track times and comments from those who have heard the record

"Battleground" is Myles ' playground, I really think that the song is "the Myles song" of the record. You can hear it in the webisode 7 I guess. There is bridge which reminds me some parts of "The last Fight" (VR). Really cool song.

And unfortunately, there's no masterpieces like "Anastasia".

"Wicked Stone" is still my favorite ! :shades:

Disappointed about there being no Anastasia. Due to this, do you think apocalyptic love is a better album?

  2. I'm kind of digging Safari Inn

    (Unpopular opinion of the day?)

Yea I have no idea why people are so disappointed in the song. Slash is getting old. He won't write stuff as good as the old days. Look at pearl jam, aerosmith, soundgarden, alice in chains etc. All their new material is no where near as good as their older stuff.

  3. I like the others but does anyone else get an 'emo-y' vibe from some of the parts of the other songs? An example would be in the chorus of world on fire, where Todd comes in with the higher 'world on fire'. Does my head in. Same with 'I was running with the order' in 30 years to life. These where not present in Apocalyptic love.

For me personally I disagree. I wouldn't catorgize it as emo, but maybe thats what it is. I don't know how I'd catagorize it, I just know I enjoy it.

And Todd's backing vocals have been a staple (good or bad) since Slash's debut. A friend informed me years ago that the high vocals on Back From Cali are actually Todd. And songs like One Last Thrill on Apocalyptic Love definitely had Todd singing similarly high vocals similar to World On Fire. I don't see anything about his singing that has changed since he's joined Slash and I've always enjoyed his contributions. In fact, his backing vocals on World On Fire are in the top 2 or 3 things I love in that song.

No I love Todd. As a bassist and singer. I heard him sing dr alibi live and was so amazing. It is simply the way he hits the higher note after Myles in the new songs that makes me compare to a lot of emo songs I have heard on the radio. I would rather they sing at the same time. Or actually a song with just Todd on vocals. What has your favourite song been from the album so far?

  4. I think we have been blessed to hear 4 full songs before the release of the album. My fav so far is between bent to fly or stone blind. I like the others but does anyone else get an 'emo-y' vibe from some of the parts of the other songs? An example would be in the chorus of world on fire, where Todd comes in with the higher 'world on fire'. Does my head in. Same with 'I was running with the order' in 30 years to life. When will we expect that you think?

  5. Anything by The Answer.

Seriously? it sounds like kids trying to play their dad's rock

"Kids trying to play their dad's rock" huh? It sure doesn't sound anything like that to me. You posted the first single to their first album, which is far from being representative of the rest of their work. But live, it kills :

Their guitar player is just great.

    Also listen to that :

    Sounds pretty good to me.

I love The Answer! They come from my home town. Met them a few times. Such cool guys. And as you said, they are killer live!

  6. Can't wait to hear feedback from the gig tomorrow! Wonder what new songs they will play. Are there any acoustic only songs on the new album? Thanks

There's no ballads just slower songs than others !

I remember some acoustic parts but there's no what i call "full unplugged songs" like "Nothing Left To Fear".

Slowest songs on the record are probably "Bent To Fly", "Battleground", and "The Unholy". ;)

Thanks for reply man! What was your favourite out of the slower ones? I absolutely love Bent to Fly. Have it blasting everyday. Can't wait to see them at their first European show in Dublin. Wish I was in America for those Aerosmith shows =(

  7. Remember when Apocalyptic love had like 30 second samples of each song a few months before it's release? You think we might get that for World on Fire?

Sure thing but still don't know when...probably 1 or 2 weeks before the release. ;)

The whole album will probably be leaked by then lol.
