  1. So many people here wanting Slash to just simply replace Myles with someone they prefer. I think you need to respect Slash a little more and let him do what suits him. When Slash made his first solo album, it also gave him an opportunity to find a singer that would fit Slashs needs and obviously Myles was that man. It's not always just sound you look for in a singer but personality too and Myles is such a nice man. I met him on 4th of July in Ireland and he really comes across as someone you would want in your life. Slash has him. Now move on.

  2. The Dublin concert was fucking AMAZING guys! Place was near packed out. Couldn't believe the amount of people that showed up, and the band couldn't either. They loved us. ALSO, they played Beneath the Savage Sun live for the first time, which was killer and they also played Avalon for the first time. I recorded like 30 seconds of each. I'll upload later. Still hungover. But overall it was far better than the last time I seen them in Belfast in 2010. :headbang:

  3. Man I seriously can not wait until he comes to Dublin on the 10th Nov. Last time I seen him was in Belfast 2010 and was one of the best gigs I have been at. Me and my friend sneaked into their sound check beforehand and they were playing 'We're all gonna die' with no vocals. (Although he never played this on the actual set) Suddenly, slashs HUGE bodyguard lifted me and my friend outside. Fun times

  4. Man, how I would have loved a Slash + Dio song. It would have been incredible. You guys do know that Slash and Axl WILL perform together sometime in the future? It's inevitable. Just like Roger Waters and David Gilmore. Will be in some Live Aid concert or something similar. Believe it. On topic though, I have finally decided that I prefer Wicked Stone and The Unholy over Anastasia :o

  5. 1. World on Fire

    2. Shadow Life

    3. Automatic Overdrive

    4. Wicked Stone

    5. 30 Years to Life

    6. Bent to Fly

    7. Beneath the Savage Sun

    8. Withered Delilah

    9. Battleground

    10. Avalon

    11. The Dissident

    12. The Unholy

Would've been a much better album.

How DARE you leave out dirty girl! It's so funky. Also, too far gone and safari inn are epic tracks. The dissident is a load of bollocks.

  6. The double tracked chorus in 'World on Fire', ''I THINK ITS TIME I...'', is fuckin annoying. Shame as I like the main riff, very Motörheadesque, and the verses have carried me up until that point, but then that big bland shouty chorus comes in and the arsehole falls out.

Completely agree mate. If the song had a great chorus, it could have been one of the best on the album. I am heading to their first European gig in Ireland. First time playing in a huge arena in the whole island of Ireland for Slash. SO hope he plays Wicked Stone. If he does not, and then he plays it over in England, I will be extremely pissed off.

    Feckin English.

I want to like this album - I truly do - but it is just, shite. I mean it is better than chin dem but then, if I farted in a can of Tizer, that would produce something more tuneful than cd, but this is just shit; perhaps Slash should reform the Pit?

I wouldn't be that harsh and call it 'shite', compared to most rock albums nowadays. But I completely understand why people who are fans of slash in a gnr or snakepit sense would not like it. This stuff is very, very different. I love it cause it still has great slash riffs and I just love Myles. I think the lyrics in most of the songs are shite, but most 80's rock lyris were. In this album I can tell he is trying to get the attention of modern rockers, yet still pleasing the old fans

  8. Here my little review:

    1. World on Fire: I was one of the people who weren't too impressed when it was first released, but I actually really like the song now. 9/10

    2. Shadow Life: immediatly loved it. 10/10

    3. Automatic Overdrive: didn't really catch my attention at first, but not bad. 8/10

    4. Wicked Stone: good song, not as good as some people are saying, but it's still good. 8.725/10

    5. 30 Years To Life: One of my favorites. 10/10

    6. Bent To Fly: Decent... 8.5/10

    7. Stone Blind: pretty catchy. 8.5/10

    8. Too Far Gone: it's good, not much else. 8.7/10

    9. Beneath The Savage Sun: best song on the album. In fact, best Slash song ever. 11/10

    10. Withered Delilah: Cowbell!! 10/10

    11. Battleground: Yes, Myles sounds great in this song, but the song itself never really clicked with me. 9/10

    12. Dirty Girl: catchy. 8.5/10

    13. Iris of the Storm: not really memorable, but good. 8.5/10

    14. Avalon: not much to say about it, it's catchy... Like all the other songs.... 8.5/10

    15. The Dissident: where the fucks my tractor? 100000/10 (without the amazing intro: 8.5/10... Don't really like the chorus)

    16. Safari Inn: thank god a song on a Slash record that focuses on Slash. 9.5/10

    17. The Unholy: it took me a few tries to listen to the entire song, but I'm glad I did. 9/10

    Overall: 9/10

Best solo album Slash has put out.

So after 3 spins of the entire album, the only song I'm not really feeling is the dissident; one thing you gotta love about Slash if you like rock n roll is you know he's not gonna really soften his sound as he gets older as so many other bands have done.

Really do not like that one either. And you are totally right, Slash still has that raw heavy sound in some of his new songs. That Wicked Stone song definitely has an old GNR vibe to it. I am trying to think of another band today that still has that awesome rock n roll sound like slash does, but just can't seem to find one. Does anyone know of any?

  9. It's really good up until Bent To Fly then it really falls in quality and only recovers in a few isolate songs likes Iris Of The Storm and Safari Inn. Was expecting so much more of The Unholy.

You seriously don't like Beneath the Savage Sun or Withered Delilah? You need to give the album a lot of time to grow on you. Also, The Unholy is epic...

  10. This album just keeps getting better and better! It does take so much time though. I have came to the conclusion that if they had not included 'The Dissident', 'Iris of the Storm', 'Shadow Life' and 'Automatic Overdrive' then the album would be a complete masterpiece all the way through. 13 songs would have been perfect. Those other songs make me cringe >.< Especially the choruses. I am trying to find a negative review for this album, but I simply can't. Great news! Now, what the heck is going to be the next single? =/

  11. Loving Slash's tone on some of these tunes, the guitar work is stellar. Found myself loving Safari Inn when I expected from all that I read to hate it.

I'm probably alone here but I am finding the harmonies in the choruses too samey and they are starting to sound a little ...fuck and I even writing this.. Evanscence or one of those other, bland naughties rock acts.

All the same, Slash has outdone himself riff wise here, fucking amazing work. I just wish someone could "grow up his act" a bit. A song called "Dirty Girl"?? Really? If you were 17 maybe. Not a fucking married, sober and the elder statesman of rock. Leave that kind of school-boy shit be, those days are long passed for every band member. Nothing sadder than a bunch of forty something men dressed up to the bollox in teenager clothes and hair dye talking about dirty young girls. I think it cheapens the whole thing.

Get the lyrical smarts of Faith No more or Soundgarden, make intelligent, engaging videos like Alice N Chains and rock out as you wish and I think this band could be so much more.

We already have an AC/DC, we don't need another one.

Other than that, I'm happily into this album for the next two months...

I think Myles is responsible for that song title. And all song titles on World On Fire and the lyrics. I agree, make it classy. Why Dirty Girl? I would name it Stripper Girl. What about dignity.

You ever hear Steel Panthers 'Stripper Girl'? Now those are great lyrics lol

  12. I absolutely love safari inn! It's the sort of thing I want to hear on every Slash album. If they ever do a music video for Savage sun or Unholy, I really hope it portrays the strong message they are getting at in the song. If they ever do a music video for Dirty girl, I hope it's funny as fuck.

The lads over at Alter bridge nation seem to be loving the album too. Happy days =]

  13. Listened to it all a few times and I must say I am in love with the album now. Favourites are Unholy(Such an epic song with great meaning), Wicked Stone, Beneath the savage sun, withered delilah and Stone blind. The riffage on this album is insane! With the 'lalala' in battleground and 'wowohohwow' in The dissident, I have a strong feeling that slash is trying to grab the attention of modern people that are into that silly modern rock. But he is forgiven, because he is slash.
