Lye?! It takes like 45 seconds in boiling water to get skin off, is that so hard on industry?  I only add sugar for the chef boyardee clone, because thats what it takes to clone it :).  I should add though that lye is whats used to get outer skin off of corn to make tortilla, pupusa and tamale but as far s I understand its necessary and inside stuff never touches it, unlike the tomatoes.

If I start selling tomato sauce, it will very likely not be my boyardee clone!  Plus, Im not gonna try and compare with yours that you've been making since grade 5!!!

yeah that really make me kinda sick thinking i've been buying lye tomatoes :vomit: but now Hunt's it is

awww that's sweet. i think i've improved it since then...fresh herbs baby!

  2. i never add any sugar or anything sweet to my tomato sauce, like for spaghetti, lasagna etc. i use tomato paste which may have sugar in it? and tomato sauce. like Hunt's cos like the commercial says they steam their tomatoes instead of using lye! i never even KNEW tomatoes were peeled by using lye by some companies

if you start making your tomato sauce and selling it i will buy it! :D

Oh!  Like a clone of the chef himself ?!?!?!?!

    LOL noooooo! :P

the thing about Chef Boyardee "tomato" products is they use a lot of carrots as well as tomatoes to make it as cheaply as possible. my friends grew up on this... i never had it but my friend told me this as he knew someone who actually worked there!

That pasta sounds perfect!  Pasta is one of the only places I like zucchini.  Im thinking of trying out spam.  You should try my chef boyardee clone!!

thanks! what is your chef boyardee clone? :D

  5. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates 2016 Adam Levine Zac Efron Aubrey Plaza Anna Kendrick. another movie where i was misled by all the trailers i saw before seeing the movie. things that let me down where Aubrey Plaza... i love her SO much in Parks and Rec and was expecting more from her. her performance was kinda flat to me. the choosing of the dates took too long, the pretending of Anna and Aubrey to be goody goodies when they were really bad girls. then after they did the bad stuff the getting the "happy couple" back together. took up too much time. more fun bad girl stuff would have made it much better for me. 5.9

As far as I gather its all in the grilling

we never ate spam in my house growing up...my dad forbade it! said he had too much in the army. have not had it to this day, just like i have never had chef boyardee anything, dinty moore stew, any kid of canned meat really. i remember being so poor when i first was on my own that i gladly took my neighbor's kind offering of zucchini and tomatoes from his garden and i made kinda of a veggie pasta...got a package of spaghetti and sliced the zucchini and chopped the tomatoes. when the spaghetti was done i placed the veggies in the colander then poured the hot spaghetti and water it boiled in on top of the veggies, it drained and then i tossed it with some olive oil and some salt and pepper. it was pretty good. but no spam ever! :P

Yeah, loved Sully too. I cried when the plane landed. Reminded how much I miss NYC and of 9/11 again. He was one hell of a pilot that Sully.

I never knew the shit they gave him for landing it in the Hudson River. The movie was very good. I'm glad I watched it.

how did you get from NYC to Texas? :D

With every one I've lost, I loss a piece of myself you NEVER get back again.  Everyone mourns their own way. You never get over anyone's death. You just find a way to live with it. Some days are better than others, same with memories.

I still hate that my loved ones are not with me anymore. My memories are bittersweet now and holidays get harder every year.

Some people can get overit, others can't and no one has the right to tell you any different.

Our lives are forever changed by the people we have lost. We just learn to cope and go on for those left behind.

every word you wrote is spot on. great post. sorry for your losses...may they all rest in peace.

It is lovely hot on a winter's day. I've liked it since day one really.

That is a good way to do salmon. You can either set up a steamer on your hob or do it as you are doing it in the oven. Probably the best way as there is not much chance of drying it out.

i will definitely have to check it out then!

i had a steamer but it disappeared during my last move.

I do think fish should be kept simple. The best way to cook salmon is probably steaming actually - black pepper, steam , serve with slice of lime - but I'm always too lazy to set up the steamer so I often just marinade it in a bit soy for twenty minutes and fry - still serve with slice of lime. My favourite way is actually salmon teriyaki but I always end up slugging my sake supply!

my plan is to wrap it in foil and steam it in the oven. season it with pepper and maybe a bit of soy sauce. i could do a teriyaki sauce with it. i make my own. i have never had sake in my life! when driving to Bodega Bay there is a place i pass by that makes sake in Napa. i am always curious and i keep saying i'm going to try it. but i heard it's an acquired taste...was it like that for you? :)

  12. LOL in all modesty everyone who has ever tasted it has said it was the best they'd ever had!

i think i took it as a challenge...one time i made some  seasoned rice and just was free styling as you say. i fed it to a guy i was with and it was like pulling teeth to get a compliment from him so i said pretty good huh? and he says yeah but you'll never duplicate it ( i'd told him i did it by just throwing spices in, no measuring! ) so i did it again and he kinda agreed with me. but after that it was like game on dude! :D been doing it for many many years now :P

maybe if you give it time the flavors you can' recall will come to you :)

Here is a little Chinese dish I rustled up.

    Ingredients,

    - bag of spinach

    - finely diced root ginger, garlic and onion

    - dish with about three table spoons of chicken stock, and about two table spoons of light soy. Bit of black pepper also.

1/ Medium heat, stir fry ginger/garlic/onions till onions translucent

2/ add spinach - you may need to add a bit at a time - and continue stir frying for 1-2mins (till almost wilted).

3/ Add stock/soy and stir fry for about one minute more.

    Serve with plain boiled rice.

This recipe is easily adaptable. Mushrooms can be added at stage three for instance. Chicken or prawns would go well. I served it as a side dish with salmon (that had been marinated in soy for twenty minutes before frying).

yum! i am making salmon tonight, if i'd seen this before shopping i'd have given it a shot! :)

you sound like a gourmet chef ;)

I love every performance and all eras but i voted for 'outside Guns' because he really nailed every song. With SMKC he seems to be having more fun and seems excited to be playing.

Has he even joined in with singing the chorus on any songs this tour? Anyway I think he rocks but he rocks that much more with his own band. IMO.

Slash is so cool! i keep finding him in collaborations with like everyone!! he totally rocks  rock4:slash::wub:

I pulled a vegetarian shepherds pie outta freezer.  Its delicious but I cant remember what I put in it to make it so good.  I cant put my finger on it.  Both how I seasoned the veggie ground and something i put in the potatoes.  Theres at least 3 flavours I cant identify.  Its really bothering me :)

don't you hate when that happens? was it something you hadn't made before? it has happened to me a couple of times when i do new dishes. but i am notorious for not measuring...like my spaghetti sauce :P but that comes out the pretty dang close to the same every time. maybe cos i have been doing it since i was in the 5th grade!

  16. the one who picked the Zoloft song i really hope has some knowledge of people who suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, and PTSD. if not they should become enlightened. Zoloft almost made me kill myself btw. and it may happen to someone close to to them and it is not a good feeling to have these things going on and they are real. like i said if i had an arm missing people could SEE there was something wrong but because this is inside my brain people can't.

    ok so Z cheat:

  17. after this GN'R tour i think Axl needs to REST! from reports here and other gnr forums i am on i keep reading his voice sounds pretty shot right now which i what i was afraid of. so please Axl do NOT go on an AC/DC tour after NITL ends. i know Angus might be ready but IMO Axl needs to rest himself and his instrument...his wonderful voice!

Huge compliment from a great vocalist - thanks, SoundOfAGun! And yes, I'm fairly certain that outro was from a single take, which is mind-blowing to me.

Also, the two tracks in your sig are really good! And sorry about that other thing. I guess the stars* haven't yet aligned.

    he really is :)

you sound great as well :D
