  2. ok totally in summer mode so i grabbed a book from a box of books i bought on Ebay. i read a lot so i buy books in bulk sometimes :) anyway, saw this one called The Beach House so i grabbed it and took it to bed. it was actually pretty good! it was about a woman who goes to the Lowcountry ( in South Carolina ) to see her dying mom. her mom is a "Turtle Lady", she and some other people look out for the loggerhead turtles when they come and lay there eggs until the time the eggs hatch and when they can they help the hatchlings make it safely to the sea. the really interesting part was at the beginning of each chapter there is a paragraph or so about the turtles; how they live, why they do what they do, how they lay so many eggs yet only about one in a thousand hatchlings will make it and even how the adult turtles are endangered because of things like getting caught in fishing nets or cut by boat propellars. there is also a hurricane thrown in and i learned a lot about hurricanes i never knew.

i thoroughly enjoyed it. oh and the author is Mary Alice Monroe :)

It is actually better than most think. It was good enough for me to shut of my consciousness and follow along - although maybe I'm too used to z-movie schlock. Wood intended the film for widescreen so all of the boom mics and scripts and other film objects would have been eradicated in that format, but because numerous poor quality matte versions appeared on VHS formats in the 1980s, these miscellaneous objects appeared on screen so people naturally laughed and thought it was a hysterical gaffe on Wood's part.

Wood does insert some topically Cold War concerns about man's capacity for annihilation - the ''alien hectoring us stupid Earthlings'' trope - which is very interesting. You also have to applaud his b-movie ingenuity in overcoming budgetary concerns. He basically is trying to make a big budget epic on a budget of one pence and it is very interesting how he overcomes certain technological challenges.

if you ever read the book Horror Show by Greg Kihn ( i doubt you will :P but if you do :) ) you will notice he borrows almost the entire plot from the Ed Wood movie!

watched such a silly movie... Popstar:Never Stop Never Stopping. best part was Justin Timberland :D

I so did not like that scene of her shooting Sonny...really not into this story line!

And the Kristen thing...well I am confused as hell cause I thought she was coming back for a while. Not a few days. Maybe the story will change but nothing in her IG posts made it sound like the GH thing was temporary. I don't get it. :shrugs:

I am glad Roger resigned. ..maybe his new contract said before coming back he gets a long ass vacation?!

Roger being on vacay gives me a vacation! :P

watching GH now...ugh, they are cutting in with a weather alert. we have had bad thunderstorms, now they say hail and 60 mph wind...i did NOT sign up for this

Arielle was on Vampire Diaries. She appeared in the season finale too. We actually met her in a Vampire Diaries convention. She was so sweet. I told her I remembered her from Soul Plane with Snoop Dog. She was so happy I mentioned it. It was her first role and she said she had so much fun. Snoop was so cool.

I think Jason Smith is now going out with Laura Wright (Carly) from GH. Yeah, he was cute in Sex and the City.

The vampire actor was in the Starz show Spartacus. He was also in Sleepy Hollow.

The man guy was in a Lifetime movie. Anyway, him seeing the dead is kind of freaky. I had to re-wind my dvr to make sure the cat was actually talking. lol So cute.

loved the cat talking! so cool you met Arielle :)

yes the dead were freaky, especially the woman they dragged from the river.

maybe i watch too much murder ID real crime stuff but when the main guy..the psychic, led the police to the river where they found the gun my first thought was IRL they'd think he was the guilty person!

  6. Sam probably does have a brain tumor or something. i love her but when she shot Sonny....no one shoots my mob man :P

do they ever even show Max anymore??

yeah i love Kirsten Storm...was that it though? is she coming back??

i thought Oscar was kind of a cute, nice kid talking to Carly as he did. and the flowers he brought was so sweet.

    Animal Kingdom

    Face Off

    Ink Master

    Somewhere Between

No one lives - I love this movie!

Midnight Texas was kind of slow, but the special effects are awesome. There's even a talking cat!

It's pretty good. A small town in Texas where people who are very different all live. It seems like it will be interesting.

There's also a murder mystery to solve.

Also a new show Somewhere Between, which was very good. It was on Monday night and Tuesday night at 9.

i saw Midnight, Texas! thought it was good and that talking cat is a hoot! LOL did EVERY guy take his shirt off?? the guy with wings was on Sex In The City as Samantha's boyfriend Smith, Jason Smith...still hottt! and that blonde kick ass chick is Arielle Kebbel...it was driving me crazy where o knew her from then i remembered...she's been in a lot of Hallmark Christmas movies :)

i have now found my new TV show!

watched Nashville rerun...Deacon singing *swoon* :P

Down with the Union. Long live Marse Bobby and Jeff Davis,

I love military marches and this is probably my favourite - it has the sentimental/romantic lyrical themes preferred by soldiers, 'Erika' being a flower thus doubling up as either a flower or a longed-for lady admirer,

And just in case I'm neglecting Blighty olde boy,

idk why but Bonnie Blue Flag is now my favorite song! ;)

    great songs really :)

  9. Sully- thanks free HBO preview! first of all GREAT movie. i never knew anything about what this man and his co-pilot had to endure, i just saw he was a hero and never really knew happened beyond that. now the weird thing that is personal is today would have been my parent's anniversary and i have been thinking of them all day. when i started watching this movie i especially thought of my dad because he wanted to be a pilot in the service but he eyesight was not 20/20. nevertheless i think he might have flown a plane or two under the radar ( yeah, bad pun.) anyway, the really freaky thing was the scene where they had the flashback of a young Sully taking flying lessons....in Denison TX where my dad was born! i had to rewind it and make sure it was real because i don't usually believe in this stuff but it said plain as day Denison,TX.

anyway, as i said a great movie and a gift for me to see it today. thanks, miss you Dad and Mom
