Best Axl vocals and well-balanced energy

    Best Slash guitar sound

    Best Matt Sorum drumming

Best setlist (good rotation of original songs and covers)

Best modified versions of songs (November Rain acoustic solos, Nice Boys long version, DTTJ with long intro, Patience with Imagine interlude)

    Etc.

Maybe I should have been more specific and said that 1993 was the best year for the band live sound.  But the album of covers TSI? released that year featured incredible Axl vocals and killer Matt Sorum drumming.

Yes, but lacked the rawness and aggression of the early days. Im not saying I don't enjoy the 93 bootlegs but I guess I just prefer the angrier sound of the club days.

I don't know if it's the greatest year but it's one of the best

1993, greatest year of the band, IMO.

I agree with ssiscool but I think 93 is considered one of the best because they had more songs to play. '87 was the best in my mind but Nosaj makes a good point, song catalogue balanced with performance it could be considered their best year.

Not rumors, but people were talking about them that they should do Arena's in 2017 as Stadiums are not selling out that well unless they release a new album.

At this moment plans for 2017 seems like end of Jan would start with Australia and maybe New Zealand with Japan till Feb.

Then from mid 2017 they would add European dates, then maybe October/Nov 2017 they could do an Asia/Middle East tour OR another US Tour.

I think this is pretty much spot on.

Thanks. I'm in Adelaide where they did NuGuns shows each time they came to Australia if I recall, so hopefully. If not, just means I'll have to do both in Melbourne.

Heard anything on whether it would be stadium shows like in the US?

It's looking increasingly likely it will be at the G, not 100% yet but the most likely option. So you'd assume Adelaide oval would be on the list too.

In 2013 they played at Sydney Myer Music Bowl & it was perfect. At first I thought why would they play there but we got front row & it was an excellent venue.

We have the tennis on in January and February don't we?

Tennis in Melbourne finishes in Jan. I'm just hoping it's not Calder Park. I'm sure it's a good venue but it would suck big time to have to drive there.

There are three possible stadium venues in Melbourne - MCG, Etihad and AAMI Park. Etihad holds approx 55,000 for sporting events, AAMI about 30,000. MCG would be too big. Don't know if you'd get the approx 100,000 across two nights at Etihad, but for shows in February it would make sense as it's not really being used much at that time of year.

Also majority of concerts are held at Rod Laver Arena, but probably too small.

Ill post the venue when I know more. I just shared the info to let GNR fans down under know they will definitely get a chance to see them within the year.
