Motley Crue Albany NY 1990. My ears were ringing for days.
I was at that show as well -
U2 at MSG in 2015 was the loudest for me -

Fucking disgusting... there were fucking eBay losers when I met him in Detroit. I will never regret not asking for an autograph, it isn't worth being lumped in with those scumbags if there are a lot of them around you.
My fiancé and I thought about trying to head around the back of the Apollo to catch the guys when they came out, but the ebayers/dealers in NYC are just brutal, take no prisoners. Not worth it. The night was pretty great even without that.

Just catching up on all of this now. I managed to get in and the show rocked my fucking balls off. I also got offered a free ticket to Maiden at Barclays last night, so had no time to breathe between the two.
I showed up to The Apollo at 3:00pm and ran the drop line (which, after talking with Sirius staff, reeeeeally helped all of us get in). Huge props to @DanielCT and his fiance for showing up at 5:00am and starting to number everybody. They were very rightly the first ones to get in and their dedication was outstanding. Forget where they came from, but I know they got up at 1:00am. When I went to get a beer I ran into a dude who was #126 on the line so my guess is about 150 people got in. Sirius staff was strict but generous.
Some personal highlights:
- Me and a buddy ended up row 6, dead center of the orchestra (ironically, it's about where I snuck up to for the Springsteen show at The Apollo a few years ago).- Speaking of Bruce at The Apollo, waiting in line with me was a dude I met in that drop line back in 2012. Was great to catch up.
- Sofia Vergara and her husband were right behind me. No idea who they were but her husband rocked out way hard to obscure songs and caught Axl's mic. and he graciously let me touch it.
- Patrick Wilson was immediately next to me and caught Axl's whistle.
- I can barely tell you how Axl sounded because it was a loud and intense performance inside and wasn't thinking about that.
- I thought for sure we'd be getting a two hour show at most, but was floored with the 3:20 length.
- Never in my life did I expect to see Axl & Slash in the same room together, let alone one that holds 1500 people. Mindblowing.
- I thought that the slight tempo change at the end of "Nightrain" might be because of there's a curfew in NYC that you can't play past. GNR, of course, blew right by that though.
- I got interviewed on Sirius radio outside and I have no idea where that audio ended up but would love to hear it.
- Honestly, this was the coolest GNR show I've been too. Intimate venue, the band was fucking killer, everyone was in good spirits, and they played for fucking ever.
- I never expected anything AFD30 related, so eh.
- I got in right before McBob came on, I missed the free shirts, but got a free poster (and beer!). If anybody's got an extra shirt, let me know.
- "This I Love" is one of the only songs I do not like by GNR, but Axl's fucking voice was awesome and Slash kills the solo each time, so consider me a changed man.
- A lot of hardcore fans in the place kept the energy high.
- I took one picture that came out like shit, but my friend next to me got this one.
All in all, an outstanding fucking night at The Apollo. So glad I bailed on work and went.
Is this you Tom? I'm glad you were able to get such a good seat - it definitely was a blast. We were up in the lowest box seats right above Slash's side of the stage. Definitely an experience we won't forget. When we first got there there was a woman's purse under Laura's seat, eventually she came back to retrieve it before the show started, and it turns out it was Frank Ferrer's daughter. Later on towards the very end of the show Duff threw a pick up into our box, no one could find it and it ended up being buried under Laura's t-shirts from the show. She's a hardcore Duff fan so she was pretty stoked. Neither of us suffered from heat stroke amazingly and made it out of Harlem in one piece, so it was all good. Now we need to work on saving some $$ for the arena dates.
FYI we're from Beacon Falls, CT - about 20 miles north of Bridgeport. Very quiet and peaceful.

There was an envelope brought out with 20 tickets and they said this is from axl, I guess seats they kept for friends and associates that didn't show. Those had some good seats on the floor and some in the side balcony where people they invited I guess didn't want to be bothered. After that was the big balcony seats which I'm sure were fine because it's a small venture and they all seemed pretty damn happy to be there after standing there many hours. I did see some buy tickets, they asked everyone who came by, 2 dudes dropped $500 each. Sirius did a raffle for their employees. Some industry people made an appearance and went home. One guy left after 30 min, he said he didn't have time for anyone but GnR and the Kills were killing him. I do think Fernando is a real personable guy, friendly. The essence of the show was the sound and small space. It's not the same as pit in a stadium. It's like they were in your living room. Some guy was in disbelief the whole time saying this is so sick, what's happening. And slash was on fire, he went crazy on rocket queen and had some solos that you wouldn't believe . You got to see the inner workings of it all. Yeah I have complaints , they were deleted but im just trying to give a view from the inside. You just had to focus on the artistry of it. I turned to one of the small, side balconies and 3-4 young girls, with zero rhythm, were apparently listening and dancing to one of these talent-less drake types or something, they seemed lost. But there were a good amount of fans there. No idea why but one guy kept holding up a live like a suicide album , another kept showing the band his shirt and one person lost their mind after axl shook some hands. Overall it was a good crowd. No one was an asshole. Now where is the soundboard recording ? Anyone ?
My fiancé Laura and I were the ones who showed up at 5 am to try to get into the show. We had no idea that there were going to be any seats available but if there were we wanted to make damn sure we were first in line. We didn't know until about 10 pm that we were getting in for sure. I will say that Harlem in the morning was very interesting, and it was super hot all day out there. Our seats were in the lower box on Slash's side, and it was fantastic. Axl looked up at us a couple of times and smiled, probably wanting to see who these kooks were that stood outside for 17 hours to see the show. We also got one of Duff's picks which got lodged under Laura's t-shirts. A great and memorable night for us.
Just now, TheSeeker said:Any word on if Howard Stern himself was in attendance?
I didn't see him, but Gary DelAbate was behind me in the beer line. I don't think Howard was there.

I have NO idea about anything regarding this venue...on an island...wha....?? please explain (I mean I could google it...but maybe u have insight)...take a farrie over? I'm sorta comtempating NOT going as its WED Buffalo (2 hr drive w/ 3 others). Then SAT is Montreal (I drive by myself! ahh for 6 hours) then stay in the area until MON for Ottawa's show (and then drive home w/ a gf probably the next day)....so sorta unsure if I'm 100% going to this show. I'm adventours but I have 2 small kids, a job, ...so I got tix just to be safe!!!
I think it's on the Ile de Notre Dame, in the middle of the Saint Lawrence River. It's pretty big - the Formula 1 track is on there, as well as the casino, and some of the old World's Fair buildings. You can drive there or take the subway. Very pretty.

Just bought Zone 1 tickets too - excited to see this venue and have always loved going to the F1 circuit there and other things on the island.

Actually, you can use Visa checkout and use any type of card.
A friend lent me his card numbers back in May and I was able to buy my tickets during that presale
Yes - just bought 2 pit tickets for Hershey using the Citi presale and a non Citi card with Visa checkout.

I like the song, and remember being in the audience when the crowd noises were recorded way back when, but the song wasn't played live of course.

Are they on yet?
No - Kravitz ended about 10 minutes ago so I'm going to guess GnR will be on in 30 minutes.

I asked this in the other thread just now but thought it would have a better chance of being answered here -- does anyone know if any of the bars/restaurants in Patriot Place are open after the show?
There was one open that I walked by, I just can't remember the name of it. So yes, it appears there is at least one open. I was in too much of a stupor afterwards to notice much else.

Just received a ticket deal for the 20th from Live Nation - 40% off tickets. PIT now available for $142.50 + fees. Check your inboxes. Password is WELCOME.

All you have to do is your use GPS and it should save you about 2-3 hours of just sitting on route 1 to get out. Read many reviews and it seems to work out well. Same cost as parking inside the Gilette lot.
Just bought a parking pass for this place - after the Philly debacle getting out I'll gladly spend the extra $4 -

I'm in the lower level about half way back on Slash's side - both nights.

It's going to be really hot both days - mid 90's for highs. So make sure you prepare for the heat. Philly was in the low 90's this past Thursday, and a few people were having some trouble in the pit w the heat.

I preferred the 1991 leg - it was cool being able to hear the Illusion songs before they came out.
