i wonder if Slash ever regrets giving it back?

something like that i'd have to be selfish about

I think it was on the Slash: Raised on the Sunset Strip rockumentary thing that Joe Perry told the story of getting it back. Joe had sold it back in his Toxic Twin days, and needed the money for dope. Years later, after he cleaned up and had piles of money again, he wondered what ever became of it. One day, his friend was reading a guitar magazine and saw a picture of Slash with some of his guitar collection, and saw a '59. He showed Joe, and he recognized it as his old ax. He called Slash and inquired about getting it back. Slash said "oh man, I was afraid you'd come calling someday". But he didn't want to give it back as it was important to him now too. Then a couple years later on Joe's birthday, Slash gave him a little present- his old '59 back!

Its a cool story. I believe it was on that rockumentary I mentioned above, but not positive...

Bucket will be an awesome show, I've only seen him once but he was great. He handed me a Star Wars puzzle, too. (He does a 'Bucketheads toy store' interlude type thing).

Cool. I'm gonna go, drink a bunch of beers and see what happens. I gotta feeling it will be a great time...

I'm seeing Bumblefoot, then Maiden, then GnR

I saw Maiden a couple years ago (finally)... They didn't disappoint!

Buckethead is playing my town on 4/15! I'm gonna go see the freak show. I enjoyed his work on Chinese a lot, but I have no idea what to expect from his solo show. Should be interesting. It is ironic it will be exactly a week after I see Slash back with Guns....

I've got a concert with one of my favorite current bands next Friday, then I've got David Gilmour before the 04/09 GN'R show. It's getting increasingly harder not to look past those 2 shows, but I'm trying!

Sweet! You can never get too much rock n roll!

I saw Pink Floyd once around 1995. They tell me it was a great show! :wow:

Greetings all.  I don't post often, but Mr. Cobain gets my blood boiling.  Believe me, I was a ranting and raving young, dumb and full of cum 16 year old when Mr. Cobain died.  You have to give respect to a man who blows his head off shortly after bringing a child into the world.  Yup, www.responsible.com.  I just made that up.  Not sure if it's a real site.

Even my hot girlfriend wore an RIP Kurt shirt after he passed.  I just remember being confused as to why people thought that Nirvana was a better band lyrically and musically than a band who wrote Jungle, Nightrain, Patience, One In A Million, Breakdown, Coma, Pretty Tied Up, Don't Cry, Estranged, November Rain, etc.  I was going out of my mind trying to explain to people all of the different vocal styles Axl had vs. Kurt and the difference in the music.  Just November Rain alone with the different solos helped make my point, but people were stuck on the "Yeah, but he's different and a tortured soul and says what he feels." bandwagon.  What in the fucking fuck were they talking about?  Regarding bands of that era, look at Pearl Jam, they were much better live and on record than Nirvana in my opinion.  Oh and the lead singer didn't decided to just end it all cuz he had a bad day.

I'm just not a fan and I believe he was on the fake side by pretending that all that was popular was uncool and being different was the way to be.  I really think he just tried being different for the sake of being different.  I lost all respect for Mr. Cobain when I heard this interview a while back.  Just my 2 cents.

I totally agree with everything here. Cobain was a fake punk. Fuck that guy.

AIC (I like) & Pearl Jam (I don't) were 10 times the band Nirvana was...

I am still really wanting to see Out Ta Get Me and Think About You off Appetite. I'd be happy with anything or everything from that album but those two "deeper" cuts would blow me away.

I'd love to hear anything off Lies too... The slow version of You're Crazy would be bad ass.. Reckless Life or Nice Boys if Axl could hack it...

Maybe a Stones or AC/DC cover that they have never done.

Looking forward to seeing Slash play the Don't Cry solo.. Some songs will be cool even if Axl sounds like shit.. Like It's So Easy and Brownstone.. I hope he sounds good on Rocket Queen because that is a total Axl/Slash/Duff song...

Songs I don't want to hear are anything off CD.. If they do play something, I hope it is just one song as an Olive Branch and I'll run and grab a beer.

It blows my mind that they still play Live and let Die.. It is so boring and I never thought Axl sounded good on it.. They need to Let It Die..

Not a big fan of any of Duff's songs either these days but I am sure he will sing one or two..

I agree about L&LD. Doesn't do much for me anymore...

I've always thought they should cover the Stones "It's Only Rock n Roll"... I can just picture a little harder rock version being absolutely incredible... (I love the Stones original as it is, too)...

  7. Besides new music, the #1 song I want to hear is My Michelle. So dark & sleazy. I know I've never heard NuGuns play it. Don't remember if they played it when I saw the AFD lineup in Weedsport, or the Illusion lineups when I saw them. I suppose I should check that GnR live history page...

Any of the set list experts have an idea of how often it's been played roughly? Did NuGuns ever play it?

  8. Personally, I think this will be a great lineup! It's gonna sound incredible live. As was said before, Duff & Frank/ Richard & Slash seem like they're gonna have some great musical chemistry to me. They're all awesome players & I expect them to sound tight as hell. Just can't fuckin wait to hear them live!

Hopefully Axl gets excited about the whole thing... Gets inspired to kick ass live and want to release new music with them. I think there's a great chance of those happening.

Izzy & Adler guest spots for a couple songs would of course be awesome. But this is the lineup to move things along into new territory...

Fuck yeah.. I want the energy in there to be insane... It will never be as crazy as it was in their heyday but lets get it close! The electricity of the crowds back than was unreal. I will never forget it.

Fuck yeah man! Just picture in your mind the moment the lights go out. All of us GnR maniacs are gonna scream at the top of our lungs and raise the horns... Then a note will be struck... Fuckin A it's gonna be an all time memory...

that would be cool although at some point i'd want to sit in my own seat. but if only for a few songs, only to get a really CLOSE UP view of Axl...ahhhhh, that would be frickin' fantastic! :headbang::axl:;)

There will definitely be no back n forth travel, I'm sure of that... I'm just saying if he wants to commit to GA, he might have a chance to get in there...

We are 3rd row, and that catwalk into the crowd means we will be close! Don't worry, you're gonna get some good Axl viewing...

  11. I'm really liking the idea of seeing Tesla Saturday night... Just not sure of my hangover level because I'm seriously gonna need to drink for about 8 hours after this mofo... I'm staying at the Trop, which is just south of MGM. Seems like a lot of people are staying at MGM. I'd really like to get hammered with some huge GnR fans early Saturday morning and talk about what went down... Another reason why Vegas is so great for this! No fuckin curfews or last calls or any fuckin bullshit...

    No Trickery! ?

Haha, lucky for you, I am not. Hey, speaking of which, obviously you guys have the VIP floor tickets. Do you think with those VIP tickets and the early entry we might be able to sneak into the GA section? I bought these tickets originally thinking they were GA tickets with the swag an whatnot. I got excited for the presale and wrapped up in the moment and didnt really have time to like read..so yeah.

    lys

Well, I went VIP to a Guns show in KC. My tickets were for front row reserved balcony. The entire floor was GA at that show. We got early entry for a meet n greet. When that was over, we were the only people in the theater. Most people went straight up to the rail and had their front row spot. We went up to our seats in the balcony since I no longer have any interest in a GA pit, but we could've stayed front row center on the rail if we wanted. So what I'm saying is, yes I think you have a decent chance of sneaking in there if we get early entry...
