  1. For me i kida have categories for guitarists

    Communicators

    Technicians

    Innovators

Slash falls under the communicator factor me, he can put people who don't even like guitar under his spell which is a talent in itself...tech wise hes very good but no hes no innovator. Bucket is a tech guy and very innovative....what we don't speak about much is Slashs ability as a rhythm player...he is a fuckn awesome rhythm player

I hate it when people say they are depressed when they've been sad for a couple of days... there's a huge difference!

haha to be fair i was probably guilty of it myself till it happened to me..but yes huuuuuge difference! When you hear the opening riff of Nightrain and you just sit there like a wooden stump somethins up! haha

  3. I think the word "depressing" is a strong word, a "sad" album maybes a better word. My fling with depression left me devoid of emotions period...the most frustrating of all not giving a shit about music! (not sobbin btw left that shit behind haha)

Pink Floyd - Animals, The Wall, Final Cut

    Amelia Curran - Spectators

    Adrian Belew - Side Two

Alice In Chains - Jar of Flies, self titled, MTV Unplugged

The opening of Rotten Apple and Nutshell off Jar of Flies are heavy man. They just threw that album together in a few days after a tour because they had nowhere to live apparently

That was one eggy looking bitch.  i tell you the one I liked though, the one blocking the black geezer getting into his apartment building.  Honestly, I think she just fancied him, I would've totally misread that one   I wonder what would've happened if he'd've not filmed her and just waited til she followed him down the corridor to his door and just got his nob out

Why do people stand around listening to these lunatics, thats what i don't get, just be like 'bitch, shut the fuck up' and get on with your day.

Its just a no win situation all round, this dragon only fuels the meatheads who think all women are liars in regards to sexual assualt and the boy will probably be a petrified to even talk to a woman now.

All that I Got is You is kinda triumphant though too in an odd way.  Impossible is too aggressive to be depressing.

In a way...because you know Ghost had made it, but even the last line " sometimes i look at he stars and analyse the sky and ask myself am i meant to be here ..why?, just sounds like a young man whos seen too much and cant un-see it.

This begs an interesting question, whats a depressing hip hop album?  Tupac could get a bit much at times, not depressing so much as too intense.  Also he's got a body of work full of shit that he never meant for release so for a lot of the time over 8 or 10 posthumous albums he's talking about the same fucking thing.

Again depressing "album"...hmm not sure theres been one...Wu has always gone the darkest to me emotively..All That I Got Is You, Impossible, A Better Tomorrow etc, just brilliant work of strings and piano

A lot of em become so after the fact when they weren't at the time.  Nirvana albums for instance, have been painted as this awful depressing dirges when at the time they were super fun super funny energetic sort of albums, like The Stooges in that respect.  I guess Joy Divisions second album is a tad like that, their first album I always thought was quite evocative.  Hmmm, depressing, an album has to be pretty cohesive for the whole thing to be depressing and there's not a great deal of examples of that.

Yeah i can't say i've heard an album that depresses me the whole way through, some are dark, uneasy or ominous sounding but not depressing per se. Always loved listenig to Liquid Swords when it's stormy and raining for vibes.

ROFL, exactly, I'd be like "Soooo.... you aren't looking for child support? Awesome, any time.  Tell you friends."

Ann Wilson in the Barracuda days i'd be like " so how big a family you guys after then?"

Gotta throw some Chuck in the discussion

  10. I heard that song All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You by Heart come on the radio today and didn't realize how fucked up that song is lyrically! Basically tells the tale of a woman who has a one night stand with a man, she then seeks him out a few years later to basically tell him she slept with him to get pregnant....and oh yeah i'm in love with another man who can't get me pregnant so you were basically a seamen donor buddy!

Got me thinking what are some other songs that seem harmless/jovial enough but are a little risque lyrically?

  11. I think it was just Appetite in general for me, my mother is a big rock fan so i was exposed to Hendrix, Zeppelin, Cream etc from a very young age but something about the guitars on that album made me actually want to pick up the instrument. I think the fact Slash and Izzy had fused punk and a little metal..which i hadn't really been exposed to yet..with the more classic rock style is what intrigued me.

  12. I have to giggle when people harp on about how legendary the guitar parts on Chinese Democracy are, the general consensus is there's nothing legendary about that fucking album period. People who like that shit should be happy Slash bothered to put any spin on those songs at all, i think it'd be a rather small number who would go home disappointed that they didn't play Sorry.
