I wouldn’t be surprised if us finding that link early has set things back

That would be hilarious lol! I wouldn't be surprised either. With a normal band/management/singer, theories like this would be laughable...but we're talking about TB and Axl here. They probably had a 2 hour meeting to decide how they could punish us 🤣. All kidding aside, I hope friday is the day and hopefully The General and other songs follow within the next few weeks.

probably. plus its a thursday (the night before a potential spotify release). but i dont know if graspop is important enough to release a new song. on the other hand, gnr have never cared about stuff like that. hard skool was debuted at a show in baltimore i think?

Fingers crossed for the premiere of The General! 😱😁

No. You are completely making up a reality that does not exist, per Slash's own words. He clearly and plainly stated they have not wrote or worked on ANY NEW MUSIC. I've already had to say this about a dozen times today alone. Why is that such a hard fact to grasp?

You're probably right here, but the fact is we just don't know what they've been doing since last october. I don't get my hopes up for any newly written material but it is about time to finally put those old tunes out already! They've been rerecorded for how long now? Three years?! Jesus...If they are not getting released during this tour, there is no way they start writing new stuff after the tour. And if that not happens i'm not seeing them return to the stage for a couple of years (Slash going back to MSKC). But everything seems to point at some new/old releases. We'll see i guess.

I thought they were both Perhaps?

    Got a link?

This one is the Oklahoma outro

The other one posted has nothing to do with the leak, but it might be a new extended part of the outro. Sounds like it could indeed fit the song. These are from last year. The Perhaps ones are from the Tel Aviv soundcheck. So 2 unreleased songs are soundchecked so far and The General is on the setlist.

For the most part he has been pretty respectful to the guitarists on CD. This is the quote I’m referring to though.
    https://www.musicradar.com/news/slash-technique-can-become-the-main-aspiration-but-for-me-its-more-about-expressing-some-sort-of-emotional-content

On the song Better, instead of trying to play like Robin Finck trying to play like you - as per the recorded version - you chose to do your own thing…

“Some of the stuff I won’t do note-for-note because it doesn’t have a serious melodic significance to the song. It sounded like they were making it up...”

Thanks! No serious significance TO THE SONGS 😁. I get it. Thought he was being negative.

Slash literally said he didn’t think most of the solos on Chinese Democracy had any “serious melodic significance,” and then noodles the fuck out of what he chooses to play instead. I love Slash, but that’s a huge slap in the face to fans of that material and its players.

Where and when did he say such a thing. As far as I remember he showed respect for the guitar players in an interview a couple years back. He said they did an excellent job on Chinese and that Axl wanted him to do his own thing on those songs. The only song were he really created a new solo though, is Better. He always kinda plays the same solo. For the other songs he makes it up in the moment...and often not so succesfully. I agree that those songs would be better if Fortus played them as they were intended.

Thinking about Hyde Park. Really want golden circle though but I jus can’t afford 2 tickets. Does anyone have any experience holding out for tix u til the very last minute (like day before or even on the day) and getting a great deal?

We went to Hannover last year without tickets. The normal price was 105 EUR,  bought them on the street for 65 EUR.

Isn't that exactly what Moby suggested to Axl when he was briefly brought in during the Chinese democracy album? Something along the lines of "rent out an old studio in New York for a week and just stay in it and record". And Moby more or less quit hearing from Axl after that?

Axl played him some of the early instrumentals and Moby asked the forbidden question. "This stuff is great, but were are the vocals?" 😂

On the topic of late starts. Here's a summary of the band's starting time from 2006 and onwards to 2014: (5) 26. MAY-DECEMBER 2006 - TOURING; IZZY RETURNS AND AXL FIGHTS - Page 2 (a-4-d.com)

Again, the band started to be on time around 2012, by 2014 it was about as good as it is now.

It is a myth that Axl started to meet on on time for the shows only after Slash and Duff joined the band. That process had started much earlier.

At Graspop 2012 they started 20 min early for a half empty field, because there were still bands playing in the tents and everyone assumed they were going to be late anyway. The look on peoples faces running out of the tents was hilarious. Rumour has it that the organisers told GN'R that they had to play half an hour earlier than they were actually scheduled, to avoid a late start like in 2006 🤣. Now people were pissed they started early lol.

Okay. I assumed we were speaking just musically. That documentary and movie, yeah you can say they're risks, financial risks maybe but not musically.

Releasing live stuff and have a setlist voted by fans etc. are not risks imo. Even that Lulu thing was basic by numbers Metallica riffs but just Lou Reed babbling over the songs like Abe Simpson.

And but yes, they have released 4 albums since 2003 and I guess that's better than nothing. And yes, most fans liked them. But not all, and to me it was "seven years and this is best you can do? Again?" Long and uninspiring songs with even more uninspiring solos. Kirk must be the most boring guitarist on the planet. No edge or bite whatsoever. It was like AI made this record.

But then again, I am more of Megadeth fan than Metallica fan. And they released 8 albums since 2001! Probably some Metallica fanforum members are jealous of that. But I don't compare it to GNR because it's pointless.

Yeah a lot of songs could benefit from some editing. Still, I love plenty of their stuff from the last 3 records. I can only dream that Gn'r put out an album from that quality. Nothing but mad respect for how Metallica treads their fanbase. I agree on Hamett though ;).

What risks? To me Metallica in 2000s has been probably most safe non-risk band in the world.

But good for you liking the new record. I thought it was their most boring one yet.

They released 4 records since 2003, with plenty killer songs. They made 2 movies and 3/4 concert dvd's, blu-rays. Toured every year with various show themes (supporting new records, full black album, setlist voted by fans, 2 shows different set,...). Not that it was a good record but St. Anger was far removed from the classic Metallica sound if that counts as 'risk'. Their Through The Never movie was a flop were they lost a lot of money. Risk? Releasing a documentary from the darkest moments of their career...risk? Metallica remains a super active band who gives their fans what they want and is not affraid to take risks in my opinion. The last two albums were more Metallica by numbers if you want, but at least they care to record and release albums.

  12. Graspop for me. I already had tickets for the festival and i'm offcourse happy Gn'r are one of the headliners. Maybe Weert in The Netherlands too. I'll probably get in for 60-70 EUR due to the poor ticketsales. But I wait for the first few shows to see if anything changed in the setlist and if Axl is in decent form. After seeing 4 NITL shows and Hannover last year, I'm not going if it's 95% the same show.
