Definitely ‘02. Can’t say for definite what show but I thought it was the North American run! Great photo. Great band.
Pretty sure it's from the London Docklands Arena 2002 show

Guns aren't subbing for anyone, especially given they've never performed there.
If they play, they headline. A very economically successful legacy band (which they absolutely will be classed as) that has been filling out stadiums for 6 years and has headlined pretty much every festival out there by this point, isn't going to do the gig for a smaller fee and not be the main act.
I agree. But if there's ever an opportunity were Axl would agree to do this, it would be at the last UK show ever for Elton.

What are the chances that GN'R won't headline at Glastonbury, but have agreed to sub for Elton John? There are strong rumours that Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chili Peppers are also playing/headlining the festival. It's obvious that they don't get payed as much for Glastonbury as for other shows. So maybe a shorter set as the 'legends slot' band wich Glastonbury has every year and be the support act for one of Axl's heroes? With an obvious guest spot with Elton later on?

Media picked this up yet GNR still wont announce it. At this point, esp on non-festivals, can they sell out? Were like 5 months away.
Depends on what they are playing. There will be some more festival dates (strong rumour for Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, Rock Am Ring still missing a headliner). Arenas or smaller outdoor venues around 20-30k will do well. Another stadium tour will be difficult. There's some heavy competition this summer and I don't think they can draw 50-60k/stadium show for the second year in a row with mostly the same set and no new album on the horizon. Although it's not too late to release something to promote the shows. But yeah... .

I can buy all this. The part that sticks out to me in Axl's answer years later as odd is when he said, "Clear Channel wanted the tour to fail." While they may have been disappointed, frustrated, and thinking it'd be easier if it ended, there is no universe where they wanted that major tour to collapse and end up in litigation for years.
A lot of shows on that tour sold poorly. So i can see why Clearchannel wanted it to end. The poor Vma performance, Vancouver no show/riot and the late starts doomed the tour and the big comeback from the start. Axl had to prove everything and sadly fucked up. Such a waste of that talented band. We really felt the record would come out soon and there were rumours of a single/video coming out. But after Philly it all fell apart.
At the time, after all that chaos, I was sure his career was done and we would never hear from him again. Luckily he came back strong in 2006.

Does Guns have any dates for 2023?? Being optimistic they should be done with the UYI boxset after Christmas and then focus in releasing a new single to start the year and if they drop the album they could tour US again at some point in 2023. Oh well probably wont happen
After the European tour, Slash posted something like "see you sooner than you think".

It's ok to hear Slash, but it's not ok to hear Slash's attempt at something created by other people and which will surely be worse than the original.
That ship has sailed more than a decade ago. It's a shame that the hard work of the early 2000's line up didn't come to fruitation. But it is what it is. Even the Chinese Democracy album songs got a complete rework from Bumblefoot and Frank Ferrer. And i'm sure most of us rather have the leftover songs reworked with Slash and Duff instead. Worse than the original demo's or not, it's the only way we are going to hear a finished version of them. It's however completely ridiculous we are still waiting for them to get released 20+ years after the demos were recorded and i'm sure Slash and Duff aren't to comfortable working on them either. But it's their only option if they hope to ever write and record another original Gnr song.

Are the tourshirts usually for sale after the tour? The lines at the merch stands in Hannover were insane and I had other stuff to do like drinking beers and watching shows you know 🍻. If someone has a spare white L shirt let me know 😆!

It was a fantastic show! Great set with plenty of rockers, great energy from the band, great vibes in the stadium and half liters of good beer. This was my 10th show from Gn'r(5th since the reunion), and it may have been my favourite so far.
Axl may have had his ups and downs on this tour (due to ilness) but he can still put on one hell of a show. He sounded more than decent and in my opinion better than 2017/2018. At 60 he doesn't stand still for 1 minute, lost a lot of weight and gives it his all.
Cherish this band people! They still do fantastic shows!
Does anyone know if the tourshirts are for sale somewhere? The lines at the merch stands were crazy and I didn't feel like waiting 45 minutes for a shirt.

He sounds damn good in these last two shows. The best since 2017 in my opinion. Heading over to Hannover tomorrow. 4,5 hour trip but i'm excited seeing them again after 4 years!

I think setlist complaints is a bit of a double edged sword. On one hand it'd be great if they made a massive overhaul. But if they did the shows would have no new surprises going forward; they only have a tiny catalogue to choose from and aren't really releasing new music. So I think adding "new" old songs in dribs and drabs like they have been doing makes most sense. It allows them to continue milking the back catalogue much longer while also keeping us diehards somewhat happy and hopeful.
I agree! There are always people who see them for the first time and who love to hear the regular set/hits. They however performed 51(!) songs live since 2016. An average show lenght of 3(!) hours for a band who are in their late 50's or 60 in Axl's case. Not a lot of legendary rock bands from their generation have these kind of statistics. Pearl Jam is more of an exception. They are doing a fantastic job in rotating their songs. But most other bands have not played 50+ different songs the last 6 years. They could switch up the order of the songs, ditch covers in favour of originals etc., but I really don't feel we have to complain to much about what they gave us live since the reunion.

Never heard of that before, always thought Slash's nickname was Slash
Haha obviously...i think I read it in his biography or the Mick Wall book that the other bandmembers called him curly. I'll try to find it.
Edit: At least Alan Niven calls him like this. Maybe I remembered something like that.
Alternative Nation reporter Mike Mazzarone transcribed Niven’s comments.
“Well, it isn’t so much ‘my take’, it’s what Curly [Slash] said to me the last time that I saw him which was when he came through Phoenix here just a few months ago. He told me that basically Axl [Rose] was in isolation, going through stuff that was recorded, but not used, on Chinese Democracy.

Songs that make the most sense for Slash/Duff reworkings:
Hardschool
Atlas
Perhaps
Mustache
Quick Song
Oklahoma
Tonto
Me and My Elvis
Curly Shuffle
However, the idea of Slash on Silkworms was hilarious banter until last summer and it turned out to go pretty hard so maybe there's a chance SOG and Eye on You could someday see some kind of release
Slash's nickname was curly wasn't it? Could that song or main riff be a leftover from the 95/96 sessions?

He 100% cancelled the summer 2010 tour on Twitter. It was in May. I remember because I completely freaked out because we had just booked a trip to travel to Paris to see them in July.
True...and management claimed his twitter account got hacked . But I have to say that Axl and the band were on fire once that leg happened. His voice sounded amazing near the end of that tour. So much power. After seeing them play I was really confident they would release an amazing follow up album soon. That was 11,5 years ago...

I'm surprised that with all the songs they worked on from 1998-2000 Axl picked Silkworms to play in their first show back on 01/01/2001. Imagine if they went with Hard Skool instead? Also was it legit that they had Oklahoma on the setlist?
I remember that, for some reason, Oklahoma/Rhiad And The Bedouins got mixed up back then. I downloaded the first House Of Blues version as Oklahoma-Guns N Roses. So probably it was just Rhiad.

After listening to the demo 5000 times this has to grow on me . The new guitar work sounds amazing...bummer the 'hardskoool' rehearsal backings from Duff aren't there. Could have made it stronger in my opinion. Pretty cool song!

Was Yoda still around axl at this stage?.
Yes she was. Dave worked with the band in 1997 while Duff was still in the band. The next year Axl got arrested at the airport after visiting Sharon Maynard(Yoda) and her husband. The 'dark lord' stuff fits right in that wacky episode isn't it.

What was the deal with the VMA rehearsal again......did they rehearse one of the unreleased tracks?
Nothing special. The band rehearsing the medley i guess. But for some reason it's very wanted among some fans.
What is your favorite Axl look post 2000?

I just watched a clip on youtube from that show and Axl has this outfit. But Finck appears to wear the all white jumpsuit. So the picture is in fact taken at the Hong Kong 2002 show. You can find a couple more pictures taken by George Chin.
