Starmer's whole policy during this has been, ''we disagree with the government but are going to either vote with them or abstain''.

He's on course to pull off the amazing feat of being slimier than Blair and Chuka combined.

  2. So, Labour abstain from tonight's big vote in the Commons, on the most important issue of recent times, choosing to sit on their hands and not take any responsibility for anything. What exactly is the point of Labour nowadays? As a party and as an opposition they are worthless and Brylcreem Man has shown himself to be far from the new messiah.

    Completely spineless. Plonker.

  3. Italia 90 was the one, that tournament had so much to offer and being older, is a lot more vivid in my memory.... England's run to the semi-final... Platt's volley, Gazza's tears (and Lineker's "have a word with him"), Milla being a legend in his forties (and making a mug of Higuita along the way), Big Jack and the Irish, Rijkaard spitting in Voller's hair  and this very special moment from Klinsmann...

  4. I think I'm finally going to take the plunge and pick up a Switch if I can find a good deal, mainly to play Deadly Premonition 2, as there is no sign of it coming to PS4 or Xbone. The original is one of my favourite games and I've been eager to play the sequel ever since I first heard they were doing it. However, I held off when it was released and had horrific technical/frame rate issues... even by Deadly Premonition's standards. This has apparently been improved drastically with the release of patches.

I'll probably pick a few other games up along the way, so does anyone have any good recommendations? Preferably not the obvious stuff like Mario (which I'll get) Zelda (or other WII U ports, as I have them already)

Any good exclusives and hidden gems/obscure titles?

    Cheers.

See therein lies exactly why I love Bestie (and btw I despite Man Utd and 99.9% of the players who played for em, it takea a monumental amount of exceptional circumstances for me to love a United player and I love Bestie) but football-wise?

I love him like I love Oliver Reed (who was a champion actor btw) or...I dunno Peter O Toole or Richard Harris but was Bestie a great, objectively speaking?  Difficult to argue.  As I say, I love Bestie for what he was, an icon of the 60s, a bit of a lad, a champion drinker and a champion shagger...but if the latter two made you a great footballer then I have uncles worthy of mention alongside Pele and MaradoNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNa

Oh, some of the old footage of Bestie is absolutely fantastic, he definitely was as good as anyone ability wise, a footballing genius apart from the sideshow of his off field activities. The fact he was from Northern Ireland basically hampered him from showcasing it at a World Cup.

I definitely think there's a bit of me looking at it through generational tinted glasses, though, I mean, a lot of the kids nowadays would have Messi and Ronaldo etc. above any of the greats from the past but to me, Ronaldo, for instance, for all his record breaking stats and whatever, just isn't very pleasing to watch. It's almost like he's too athletic, like he should be in track and field flying over hurdles or something? Maradona, Best, Cruyff, Zidane and the like just glided over the pitch, made it look effortless, they were like artists and it was beautiful to watch.

Football in general has lost a lot of the magic it once had for me but I feel that way about a lot of things nowadays, haha! Probably just the old fart in me coming to the fore.

It's also like trying to compare boxers from different eras, you can't really do it but it's fun to nonetheless.

There’s no way Bestie belongs there.  He’s a footballing icon but like, you judge these things on merit right, achievement and that?  Bestie don’t cut it.

Bestie deserves to be in there for his heroic boozing, skirt chasing, Miss World shagging, off the field exploits alone. It's an achievement he could ever be bothered to play a match!

Turned football into rock n' roll.

    He's in.

  7. People spelling his name wrong (Len's fault) all over the shop on this thread... sort it out for fuck's sake!

Peter Reid was interviewed for Sky, saying that Argentinian football fans would always choose Maradona over Lionel Messi. What's your two cents, @GNRfanMILO?

Diego won them the World Cup.... pretty much single-handedly as well. They got to the final again four years later....

Messi still hasn't turned up in a World Cup.

I'm don't care football much. I just be Argentinian and Diego was an national hero. I know he was an hero in many European countrys and UK too.

He's both loved and loathed (for the Hand of God goal) in England but even those who dislike him for cheating will still acknowledge he was a genius on the pitch.

  9. Breaking News: Priti Patel is a bit of a bully.

Other earth shattering revelations show the Pope is Catholic and that bears do indeed... shit in the woods.

I bet those civil servants absolutely loved being mistreated by her, the little rascals.
