I'm skipping this tour. The price of GA for Metlife is insulting. $453 after the TM fees. No thanks. Funny part is I can afford these tickets, but I can't continue to encourage this nonsense of the same setlist, subpar vocals and half the set being cover songs. I've only willingly skipped GNR once in my life. The Brooklyn Bowl show and it turned out Axl was sick anyways and ended the show early. But for me not to buy a GA seat at face value when it was available is saying something. I'm sure I'm not the only hardcore fan looking at these prices and passing. Until they promise an updated setlist, bring Izzy and/or Steven on tour or get an insane opening act I'm staying on the sidelines for this one.
THIS. Couldn't have written it better myself.

I read somewhere in one of these threads this morning that the girl that runs HTGTH said there most likely wouldn't be any new music this year. She basically works with the band, no?

Never liked Matt from the first moment I saw him. It was the Hard & Heavy video when he's sitting with Duff, and they are talking about the size of the audience for his first gig with the band, and he says something like "75,000 people, times $50 a ticket...." and then laughs. And a fan asks for an autograph and he basically shits on the kid for asking while he's talking to someone- get over yourself, bud; you were in the Cult for fucks sake, not The Stones. You're not that big a deal.

But to be honest, Twisted Sister is only a two big hit wonder band. They only have We're Not Going To Take It Anymore and I Wanna Rock as their only big hits.
Whereas Guns N'Roses has
Welcome To The Jungle
Anything Goes
Sweet Child Of Mine
Paradise City
Rocket Queen
You Could Be Mine
You're Crazy
Mr. Brownstone
It's So Easy
Patience
November Rain
Don't Cry
Estranged
Knocking On Heaven's Door
Night Train
IRS
Chinese Democracy
There Was A Time
Oh My God
Right Next Door To Hell
Civil War
There is no comparison. Guns N'Roses has 21 big hits. 😀Twisted Sister only has two big hits. 😀
Its not even January 30th and we already have a clear cut winner for "dumbest post of the year".

Not much of a Duff fan I guess!
I thought SFTD was embarrassing, and completely agree with Slash when he said that was the sound of a band on the verge of breaking up. Nice Boys, Down on the Farm and New Rose would be my Top 3. Heartbreak Hotel didn't make the boxed set? That was a fantastic cover.

Jesus Christ, why don't they just release an album and focus on that for now? Axl is sounding absolutely horrible.
I think you answered your own question....

Everything Metallica does dwarfs anything Gn'R does. By a landslide. It isn't even measurable.
Not a huge Metallica fan, but HOLY SHIT - what an elaborate and interesting touring concept. I'd have to assume this is mighty embarrassing to GN'R.

So just watched this for a bit, and caught the Shannon Hoon "Don't Cry" part- which is absolutely amazing. When Axl calls him back out for "You Aint The First", Shannon is drinking out of a plastic cup. He offers it to Slash, who waits a second and then takes a sip and puts it down; Duff comes over, asks Slash something, then picks up the drink and has a pull. Wasnt there a story somewhere- Duff or Slash's book- that the drink was spiked with acid?

CD for me.
And I fucking love One in a Million.. Gotta be in my top 5 Gn'R songs
Must be a Masshole thing . I absolutely love One in a Million as well. When Lies came out, it was the acoustic stuff I was drawn to; loved Nice Boys, and still do. Reckless was meh, and Move to the City is a lousy song, plain and simple. Patience, UTLH and Crazy were all excellent, but One In a Million was such an unexpected masterpiece. Yes, the words were contraversial, but the song itself, the melodies, Axl's voice, the arrangement...just an unbelievable song. Had he chosen to eliminate/replace a handful of words, i am sure it would have been a massive hit. But no one- and rightfully so- could get past the lyrics, so a wonderful musical journey was eviserated and eventually wiped from the face of the earth. That was the moment the tide started to turn against GN'R; until that point, they were everybody's darlings.
And CD has a couple of decent moments, but is easily my least favorite GN'R album.

I bought a bootleg called "44 Caliber Horticulture" back in, I think, November of '88 (yup, I'm old as dirt) that had both the acoustic and piano demos of NR on them, and it was right around the time Axl was talking about the follow up to AFD, and said something like "If I can't record this song the way I want, I'll quit the business" or something to that affect. So when the UYI version came out with all these layers, and the "orchestra" part, along with the COMPLETELY CHEESY video, that is when, to me, GN'R jumped the shark.
This version, while still too overblown for my tastes compared to my first intro to the song, flows way better than the UYI track . But neither one will ever touch the rough, but absolutely haunting acoustic version I heard all those years ago.

That's probably not a smile rather than Axl laughing at Ashba while he is trying to play the Patience solo
Axl's just amused by the fact that even though that gig was the worst of his career, DJ still sounded worse.

Spotify is going to be devastated when they find out this whole thing is going to cost them 10's of subscriptions . The only people we have to blame is ourselves. A simple desire to hear new music has turned into a rather unhealthy obsession for some here. I'll keep lurking, but as i said a few weeks ago, i think the end is near.

I just watched a handful of songs in 4k- Axl sounded rough, which was expected. But the appalling part was how absolutely uninterested the rest of the band seemed. Fortus was bouncing around as usual, but the rest seemed COMPLETELY disinterested. Even Duff seemed completely bored. I get it - been a long tour, everyone is getting older. I'm glad they are giving the SA fans the love they deserve, but after the last leg, they should wrap it up.

So where is that coma guy who pretended to have insiders and said Axl was upset about the box set release, and that’s why the band isn’t promoting it? Turns out the band is promoting it. They’re just really bad at social media management.
He did mention in the new album thread that "the kids are all getting along in the sandbox again" a few hours ago, so if there was a problem between Axl & whoever re the box set, it seems to be settled.....

At the very least, Slash should at least attempt Robin's solos live
Why? To appease the (generously assumed) 500-1,000 people that prefer Fink's playing out of a crowd of 40,000+??
Look; FInk did some nice work on the stuff we've heard, but to ask a legitimate top 30 rock guitar player of all time to copy the work of a guitarist that 95% of the people in that same crowd can't even name is ridiculous.

Time to wake up.
I woke up a long time ago; thats why you dont see me with thousands of posts. The end is clearly near. But if you dont think someone is going to make some sort of one off offer to them, to get Izzy back with them one last time for some sort of Hyde Park, massive last show, youre selling their greed short. if Axl can make up with Slash, then they can all apologize to Izzy for fucking him out of the loot during the reunion and have one massive last payday.

so much for "next chapter"
I agree; I think what we are, and will be, witnessing over the next 3+ months are the final nails being hammered into the coffin of Guns N Roses. For "The Big 3", they've made enough money to dig themselves out of whatever holes they got into (lawsuits, divorce, etc) and got themselves clear again. For the other members; Im sure they are all making WAY more money then they ever dreamed possible, and can now take the $$ and fade back into (relative, in RIchards case) oblivion. A year or two will pass, then there will be some sort of one-off show that Izzy will agree to, Steven behind the kit (whats to lose on only one show?) and that'll be a wrap.

Well I hate to pile on with the bad news, but I saw Buckethead & Brain in NYC tonight, and they wont be joining the shows in Brazil either. Bucket seems a bit out of sorts- not sure if its because he hasn't played alot recently, but having his gear stolen probably didnt help. Still a great show!

So from a picture posted by Gilby's wife we went to UYI lineup reunion, then to Fortus not being in the band, and from that to Buckethead and a CD era lineup reunion? People's imagination is running wild
It would be cool if Gilby joined them on stage for a couple of songs though.
Plus, there is absolutely zero proof that Izzy isn't in Brazil, so theres always that possibility.
Hey- I've been silently following these ridiculous threads on various forums for 20 years- just thought I'd join the fun!
