Covid delayed absolutely nothing in regards to new music being released. Had it not been Covid, it would have been some other calamity that was the hypothetical delay. We would be in the exact position we are now.

Unless your name is Taylor Swift or Beyoncé or you own your own pressing plant for vinyl or CD, you weren’t having a physical release; hence those who don’t give a shit will continue to not care.

So Slash said last year that 2 new (reworked) singles would be released. Now that didn’t happen..and I’m not hopeful it will this year.

Was thinking do you think some old members who worked on Chinese put in a claim for royalties/credits on that material and that’s delayed/stopped its release?

My opinion, Covid delayed everything, including physical music releases and still affects pretty much all sorts of things.
That aside with this band, those that didn’t give a shit before still don’t and those that did probably give less of a shit now.

I doubt royalties are stopping it as those things are usually hashed out in the beginning and I’m sure several lawyers were involved. The guys in a band making music is long gone and the business partners in GNR will do what’s good for their interest in the business.

“I wanna go in and cut a whole brand new record at some point, probably sooner than later,” he said. “But other than that, we have stuff that we’ve still got to come out."

“So that’s gonna be coming out piecemeal over the next – I don’t know – over the next few months or something like that. So that’s basically it. We have one more tour left to do next summer, and then that’ll free us up to be able to go in and work on a new record.”

Slash also revealed that the band was working on music during lockdown. “They’re really good, too. So I’m excited for those,” he explained.

so yeah, there is music, it's not the question, the question is : when.

I remember back in the UYI days and I think it was Duff who said they emptied the vault for those albums so they could start fresh.  If true, when was this trio truly in the zone?

all I'm saying, to clarify, is that I think there is still a chance that Axl will release more Chinese era material, maybe even a full album's worth of it eventually.

clues are that Gn'R is still active, we know that there is a version of CD ll which is complete, Axl did release Absurd and HS not too long ago, and he also didn't come out and say that he intends to never release music ever again. I don't think it's a marketing ploy to not say anything and my guess is that Axl doesn't want the Gn'R catalog's last release to be HS.

technically, there's still time to do even more than that, but my realistic hope is at least to hear the rest of CD ll someday. I'm not sure about anything when it comes to Gn'R so not sure that they won't release anything ever again either. Axl is still too unpredictable to actually know that.

I believe GNR is holding onto music, either themselves or the label to bolster the much more lucrative touring and merchandising.

More people stream than buy physical music nowadays.  Less money is made streaming.

when the touring slows down and they start downsizing the venues, maybe they’ll start throwing the name around more; like sponsoring race cars or pushing exclusive music to the Nightrain membership.

I think new music (tracks trickled out or an album) is inevitable but I also believe the Brand GNR doesn’t want too if they don’t have too. They seem to be content with their legacy branding as long as it makes money. $>legacy>new music

    I bet they absolutely won't.

The frustrating thing is we know from Live Era and the recent deluxes alone they have tracks to remix from no less than Marquee 87, Tokyo 88, , Rio 91, London 91, Houston 92, Paris 92, Tokyo 92 and Mexico 93.  Not to mention the canned release of HOB 01.

They could pump out some live albums here and there just to “Keep the Machine Going” while they figure out the hurdles of new music.

So six song London EP it is.

The mixer for the live tracks on the box set confirmed they did the full Wembley 91, Rio 91, Paris 92, Ritz 91 and Las Vegas 92 shows for possible use. There may be others but he confirmed he did all of those shows specifically.

In an alternate reality and knowing those were remixed; UYI I Deluxe should have had Rio 91 Complete; either night as a 3cd set. UYI II Deluxe should have had Paris 92 complete to make a 3 CD set.  Both albums nixing the live tracks on the current deluxes. Ritz 91 should have been it’s own release with video, a 4 disc set. That would keep with the original theme of splitting the albums in 91.

The box should have had the videos like AFD did on Blu-ray. Audio could have been the original albums with the other Rio night on 2CDs.

Our Japanese counterparts since they received bonus tracks could have then received the deluxes as they were released in Japan, with the Tokyo tracks as well.

Think of how many discs we would have bought?

i don't think they just remixed few tracks from Rio, Wembley, (Tokyo) and Paris for the UYI Deluxe versions... They did the complete thing. They will feed us for the next years for money.

Not my preferred method of music releases but at least more classic GNR is out there officially.

How is HardSkool not available in UHD? Isn’t it brand new? Also don’t forget Live Era and ChiDem, though I suppose Live Era has been rendered pointless now with all the live stuff on the UYI box, and there’s no way the record label will ever touch ChiDem again.

Fair enough.  Chi Dem is not available in Hi-Res either. Absurd is. I doubt anything will ever happen with Live Era.

It’ll be interesting what type of live stuff they put on the Nightrain exclusive Cd considering it has a 93 logo.

Yeah I was kinda shocked that no skin n’ bones 1993 stuff ended up on the UYI box. Maybe they’re saving that for some sorta TSI thing in 2024? (might as well keep everything one year late)

I know nobody likes TSI, but they might as well keep milking all of this shit, I guess. I liked the Saskatoon proshot. Something like that on an official release, both audio and video, would be fine with me. Might as well as throw in the unique covers they played around that time like Dust in the Wind and Let It Be.

Conspiracy Theory: AFD and lies we’re not available in UHD on streaming platforms until the remaster was released.  UYI were not available in UHD until the remaster was released. TSI and Hardskool are not available in UHD. Just a theory that TSI will be remastered in the near future.

I got an email about the concert just now from LiveNation. Very interesting last line from the email. It says "Guns N' Roses will be unveiling more news and surprises soon. Get ready!" Could this mean new songs? LiveNation did not enter that line for the 2021 show at MetLife Stadium.

Probably not the news we’re looking for, but Pink’s tour schedule; although she has more tour dates; lines up with GNR through Europe and the the US.

My theory is she will once again share the stage with GNR for a song or two on a few stops.

I think referring to it as a 'live album' may be premature.

Let's wait and see what's actually on it..... I honestly think it could be just one or two songs.

The live tracks will probably be some of the missing live tracks from London, Tokyo and Paris from UYI along with “all new” live recordings of Dead horse and Locomotive

They mixed the full Rio, Wembley and Paris shows, I honestly don't know why they didn't include them (even just as CDs, not even vinyl or DVDs...)

    IMG_0044.png

So Tokyo was not listed. I’m assuming the Japan bonus tracks from Tokyo are not remixed then.

Also, since they pieced out those shows and gave us the drum solos and guest appearances, I’d wager a Live Era 2 or Greatest Hits Live album in the future.

I'm hoping we get digital renderings at some point, but in the meantime I took pictures of the covers of the live show EPs to use on my mp3 versions. Did my best to clean them up a bit but they're kind of scuffed (lighting is off on the bottom right, etc.). Didn't want to agonize over them though since I hopefully won't be using them for long. Here they are if anyone wants them: https://imgur.com/a/uX0AiW8

That is awesome.  Thank you for the covers.

I started a previous thread in the General Section which I'm going to post here for now then go back and look to see if it has already been answered and delete it if it has...

I've been listening and comparing the tracks from the Las Vegas 1992 show included on the Use Your Illusion Super Deluxe to the Live Era '87-'93 album.

Nightrain, Welcome to the Jungle, Rocket Queen, Yesterdays and Paradise City are all supposed to be from the Vegas show on 1/25/1992 according to the Illusion and Live Era's notes. However, out of these five tracks, the ONLY one that is not a different performance is Yesterdays, the other 4 are definitely NOT from the same show so either a mistake was made on the Illusion set or the Live Era album.

As far as The Ritz, all I've found is Dust N Bones which seems identical.

After reading this thread, I guess I found the answer; Axl re-recorded vocals for the Live Era album.

I know there are tracks on the 2 separate Deluxe versions of the Illusion albums that contain live tracks not included on the Super Deluxe version.

Could one of you guys create a definitive list of all tracks that are on BOTH the Illusion Super/Deluxe sets & the Live Era album?

    Thanks!

I wish. Since they didn't include any from Live Era (aside from Coma on the Japan release which is clearly not mixed from a multitrack and is just a board recording) and none in this set, maybe they don't have any multitracks from 1993?

I’d be willing to bet in the coming years we’ll see a small Spaghetti box with something from 93. I say that because up until now, not even UYI was available in hi-res on digital platforms.  Spaghetti and Chinese still remain only CD quality across platforms.

Amazon has the super deluxe CD version for $200. I am gonna wait for the vinyl to go on sale.

Anyone know what completists need to buy here? I know it was discussed a while back. But if I want the vinyl super deluxe, what else do I need to get every song available? The two-CD set?

To get every song available out of this release, you will need the Japanese releases of the CD SDE and UYI II 2CD and then any release of UYI I 2CD.

Your wallet will not be your friend.

Amazon does have the Japan UYI II 2CD, but not the SDE.

Hold on a minute. Are... are song names transliterated when released in Japan? Wtf.

Edit: Holy shit, that's what they do. That's so weird! My first language has its own writing system but we never transliterate anything, it's all in English. I wonder what they do in places like Russia, or Georgia (the country) and China. I guess transliterating is a sensible choice in Japan because most people there can't speak English at all. After all, I am certain that Japanese song titles get transliterated into Latin script when released in the West.

I don’t know. I just use the translate function on MS Edge and that’s what I get.

I don't think there are overdubs on these live tracks

But I'm still asking why Nightrain and Rocket Queen were overdubbed on Live Era, and Yesterdays and Paradise City have the original vocals.

Not sure about PC but Yesterdays was released as a CD single in 93, as well as KOHD.  Both appear untouched on Live Era.  But for the rest I think it’s coincidence Axl re-recorded Appetite in 99 as well as Live Era, would seem.
