I don't think they would leave Pitman on the track.

I agree about Hard Skool. It doesn't make much sense that it would be Melissa and not Dizzy, but maybe she did something else on it (the bell, as someone said )

Ok so I’ve listened to both tracks probably around 50 times since Friday. I’m now of the firm belief that Monsters is in fact the much fabled Soul Monster. Axl isn’t singing ‘oh, but it’s over now’ during the choruses; it’s actually ‘oh, but its soul burns out.’ This coupled with the monsters in the song lyrics and, well…you get the picture.

I also think that the band decided to release Soul Monster because of the cellphone clip from the Vienna aftershow party. We all thought that was The General. Can you imagine if only The General was released? Don’t get me wrong - I love the track. But, fans would have been like…WTF, this isn’t what we were expecting/hoping for. Of course, the natural conclusion is that the cellphone clip was actually Soul Monster and not The General.

Kudos to GnR for doing this.

Oh man I’ll be listening hard for “oh but it’s soul burns out” now. Thanks a lot

So my hopes to someday listen to a finished Me and my Elvis, even if it's reworked with Slash, have gone down the drain.

I came to the opposite conclusion.

With the “release” of The General and Monster fka Soul Monster, I “now believe even more” that many instrumentals from CD era that leaked are in a complete form somewhere. Like Quick Song, Tonto, Z13, Me and My Elvis, Oklahoma etc.
