Couldn’t have said it better. People that say Bucket is a caricature don’t realize Slash also is, to most people.
Funny how most of GNRs guitarists have been caricatures. Slash and Bucket for obvious reasons, Finck with the wacky gothic mullet, 4tus with his gigantic nose, and Assba being Assba.

Slash fanboys are weird when it comes to Bucket... but I guess these are also the people who think CD songs suck, but Perhaps and HS 'sounded like GNR' once Slash was pasted in.
Do people here really not think Slash comes across as a gimmick and caricature? He wears a costume every time he's on stage, like Bucket. He has occasional moments of brilliance but play like he's on autopilot most of the time. BuT hE's IcOnIc AnD fAmOuS. No denying Slash is a legend, but it sure as shit isn't because of how he plays these days...
Fact is, Bucket is by far the best guitar player the band has ever had, and one of the best guitar players in the world. A true artist and master of his craft. KOHD, Nightrain, Madagascar, etc haven't sounded as good since he left, even with Slash playing them. It's sad to see he's been having health and money issues in recent years, he deserves so much better, but I agree with those who said he's his own worst enemy.
Deserves better? In what way? From who? God?

Perhaps this makes me a shitty music nerd, but I don’t even have a record player. Move too much and have too small of space for it. Can’t imagine I’m alone. Really sucks to limit a mythical song like that, I hope it just gets a release in streaming services to cover all bases.
I’m having a record player installed in my truck for it.

I’m already worried a CD boxset would be underwhelming. I want too much out of it:
CD 99
CD 01
CD 04
CD 06
CD Remixes
CDII
Various pro-shots from each CD era
CD with commentary
And last but not least, and not to be a total asshole, but I’d love to hear the official CD release without all of the Pitman sub-bass, clicks, beeps and other various noises.
Unrelated to a box set: imagine a 6-8 episode limited series of the CD years??

I’m going to take a forum sabbatical after everyone has heard The General. I was pretty bummed reading some of the negative feedback on Absurd, HS and Perhaps
I’m so easy to please I’m very confident I’m going to dig it.

One could argue each release has been better than the previous. Maybe Axl is releasing them in order of song quality.

He/we/everyone has every right to have zero hope in GNR lol

We still don’t have a “My socks have been knocked off” Slash solo on a new GNR song
I don’t think we’ll get that unless it’s a song where he was involved in the writing process. We’ll see.

What do you think about the additions from Bumble on CD?
I think I remember him saying somewhere that he liked them, especially the fills on IRS.

Haha! Could be worse, Eminem has some tunes! Timberlake is a monster too. He’s got some enormous pop hits…
gotta ask… was Nuno playing with Rihanna?
I have no idea she was wearing a sheer top and I was staring at her nipples on the big screen the entire set.

If they wanted to make more money, they'd put it on fucking youtube, itunes, etc.
Only releasing it on vinyl is a great way to make sure that most people who hear it, haven't paid for it
Seriously lol. Does TB secretly have a stake in a record player company?
I understand this was the “source” of the news of Perhaps being delayed a week, but it wasn’t exactly the biggest risk reporting that. A good guess and a “plans changed” if it still didn’t release a week later and there’s no difference to their business ongoing.
It absolutely will be released on streaming platforms at some point. Maybe they’ll delay it until the vinyls sales drop off after the release.

I'm not asking about past experiences, the question was how much people will spend to see a band they know little or nothing about. Tori Amos is a good example, I used to love her first several albums but stopped a long time ago. I might pay 100 dollars if that includes a t-shirt but any more than that, nope, I'll just never see her live. Instead I'll pay rent and buy food.
A lot of people have those problems, so how much will people spend to see gnr play the only four song they know.
I 100% see your point and obviously one’s financial situation comes into play.
Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper are coming to my home state soon. I know probably 6 songs between them collectively. But that doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy the other songs in the set that I don’t know! I feel like us folks on forums are entirely more passionate about music than regular concert goers.
Another note lol… I saw Pearl Jam in 2011 I think it was. I knew some of the “big hits”. No more than 6 songs. I’m now a massive fan and much much more familiar with their catalog.

Right?! Here are the concerts that were my wife’s idea:
Eminem/Rhianna
Justin Timberlake (it was surprisingly good!)

How much money will you spend on tickets to see a band you only know four songs from and didn't like them enough to find any other songs from this band over the last thirty years? You also have to pay for transportation, parking, snackbar... How much money will you spend just to be at that show?
Or are you going with someone else who actually knows about the band? That's more money spent on tickets, snacks, etc. It's going to be an expensive night.
I’ve seen Eminem at Metlife and Yankee Stadium and I’m not very fond of him lol. It was still a very fun experience and don’t regret it at all.
Don’t discount the magic of live music!
Plus don’t forget some people go just for clout!

Being the b-side doesn't mean anything as far as quality. Rocket Queen was the b-side for Patience, Whole Lotta Rosie from the Marquee was the b-side for WTTJ, Civil War the b-side for YCBM, etc... those are all great tracks, but not the most radio friendly. Prostitute and TWAT are the best songs on CD and they weren't radio friendly either.
I promise this sentiment will need to be repeated many times until it’s released.

I like the CD intro, but it'd be awesome if they had released a single version without it. Rhiad, on the other hand, I barely ever listen to. Like... I probably haven't listened to the full song in over 5 years. Hate it. Even when I wanna listen to CD as a whole, I end up skipping it.
I got a new found appreciation for both after the village leaks. Love the demos. Tommy bumps hard!

Someone on that GnR Fanspot FB group said that apparently Slash told one of them (within the last few days or so) that they are in fact planning to hit the studio after this tour. Did anyone see that? Didn't see it mentioned here.
Is the source “trust me bro”?

I personally see 0 added value to Chinese Democracy’s and Rhiad’s long ass intros either. I typically skip those 2 tracks when I listen to CD, not because I don’t like them, but because I’m terribly impatient. I’m a very deliberate music consumer. They’re barely audible ambient noises mostly. I feel the same about the Axl shouts in the Scraped intro. To me, intros like that are “unnecessary” on “simple rockers”. To each their own
I remember a time when intros like those were separate tracks making them easily skippable.
If you like those those intros, that’s awesome. I wish I did!

I can’t believe how well they’ve kept this track under wraps considering it has 20 years of hype behind it. Wonder if it starts popping up at soundchecks “soon”.
Makes me think there are more under wraps… no matter what Pele thinks

There are some differences between the liner notes in the regular album artwork and the ones in the alternate artwork (Finck has more credits in the latter), and also differences between the liner notes in both and ASCAP (Finck appears to have an additional couple of credits there). Have a look at the link above.
Thanks. I wonder why that is.
Chinese era is finally ending?
