What are the top games you guys are anticipating for '08? I;m waiting for Turok, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Brutal Legend as of now.

it seems that microsoft are banning anyone who has bought an extra fan for their 360 in order to not get the RROD. they're calling it a modded console and ban anyone with an external fan from xbox live without refund. is this not just rediculous? i know if you get the RROD they will replace it but i don't want to wait 2 or 3 months a replacement! and i lost my receipt so i'm pretty sure that means i no longer have a warranty?

You may be thinking well why is he quoting this?? Well because Microsoft have started banning xbox 360's with modded cooling. So if you've done the 12v mod your in risk of being banned for it.... How do I know this?? Because a friend of mine just had a nice chat with Microsoft About why he was banned and they explained it was because he had non-stock/modded fans.

my xbox broke few months ago and from sending it off to getting a brand new console it took 2 weeks not 2 to 3 months so it isnt as bad as you think it is...

and also you get a brand new console which helps aswelll...

my kids got a wii for xmas, what a great console it is, if you aint got one go get one' i dont want to play the 360 anymore 'it seems boring

at the moment we have three highly competitive consoles. The Wii, 360 and PS3...

say what you want about the consoles but in my opinion it is a golden age of gaming...

the consoles are pushing boundaries further and with three quality consoles the exclusives are going to be improving in order to attract customers...

it is better than in 2001 when the dreamcast died a death and the PS2 just dominated before the Gamecube and the Xbox...

at the moment we can all enjoy our games and i for one dont want to get dragged into a console war argument. I for one am very happy wuth my 360 and good on anyone who wants different consoles its their choice noone elses.

Kind of the same subject, but what console should I get.... PS3 or Xbox 360???? Obviously, a Wii is an essential purchase (if you have yet to play on one you have to try it. Mario & Sonic Olympics is brilliant!!), and is on its way, but I want one of the other two as well

So, Ive played on both, but still dont know. Fifa on ps3 is mint, but Call of Duty 4 on 360 is incedible. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's a tough 1... I'd say 360 as it does have the better exclusives as we speak, and the only mentionable exclusives the ps3 will have is mgs4 and ffxiii... neither really worth that much of a look unless your a generic anime fan who cuts himself to linkin park music.. because he tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end, it didn't even matter.

Most of the titles that are Xbox exclusive is destined to end up on the PS3 later on, Now that both Bizzar creations and bioware is off the microsoft brand, both PGR and Mass effect will be multiplatform. And most third party games will come on both consoles. As for the exlusives, the PS3 is just lineing them up. 360 have had a good run for a few years now, but PS3 is now getting cheap enough to join the race.

PGR and Mass Effect wont be multiplatform because Microsoft own the rights to the game they just dont develop the game itself like with Halo, now Bungie is independent it cannot release Halo on any console it wants because Microsoft owns the right to publish the game...

On a different note i got call of duty 4 the other day and its insane online...

This i prefer it to Halo to be honest like i also love Rainbow 6 3 when that came out and it reminds me of it alot online.

Define what makes them shit? now we're getting into personal taste.... In Flames founded a genre... that alone commands some sort of respect. They then recorded "The Jester Race" which is one of the most critically acclaimed metal records of the 1990s. They have fantastic melodic and harmonic sensibilities, two really talented guitarists, an incredible drummer and one of metal's greatest vocalists.

Also their lyrics are deep, personal and yet global as well, they inspired a generation of bands and revolutionised a powerful yet stale subgenre of metal with something it desperately needed, melody.

And that is why the world needs In Flames.

Lamb of God I can't really make a case for but I've seen them live twice and they've been fantastically entertaining.

As for Bodom, again, fair enough if you don't like them but their musical ability is far from shit, in fact i'd have to say it's extremely impressive.

episode 2 is about 5 hours...

portal 3 hours...

team fortress however long till you get bored...

Here is a more accurate estimate:

HL2 = 13-15 hours gameplay

ep1 = 6-8 hours

Ep2= 7-9 hours

Portal= 3 hours

TF2 = Endless

It's not only a good value becouse of the share gameplay hours. But the quality is unlike anything ells out there. There is a reason why Half Life is one of the biggest franchises in the industry.

Has anyone done the advance levels on Portal yet? I'm fucking loving them. This has got to be game of the year. I mean Mario Galaxy is the only game with the slightest chance of taking that title at such a late point in the year and even as the biggest Ninty fanboy I'm dubious. I'm going for all the Portal achievements but I can't see myself doing a lot of the challenges (the steps and timed ones mainly)

I'm also trying to get the final achievement on Episode 2 for not letting the Striders destroy any buildings during that certain battle. Very challenging. I don't want to turn the difficulty down to easy as I'd feel like that's cheating.

I need to finish Phantom Hourglass soon too but the Temple of the Ocean King is really doing my head in. It's such stupid game design. Far too easy too. I am enjoying it because it's Zelda and I love Zelda more than anything but the flaws are blaringly obvious.

I think everyone just gets caught up in the legacy of Ocarina because it was so earth shatteringly fantastic.

Like Appetite for Destruction, no on's prepared to belive GnR could put out an album to match that ever again, and therefore would not give anything else a chance.

So It is with Twilight Princess. But I can say no game has captivated me quite like TP and I've played through Ocarina many times.

It just had everything Ocarina had and more, every second of it was a joy, the relationship between Link and Midna was the closest to romance a Zelda game's ever had, there was a genuine sense of urgency to save hyrule. The setting was familiar and yet new, old locations but with new details, finding the old town of kakariko was a thrilling moment but it didn't get any more spine tingling than re-entering the temple of time and discovering there was so much more to it than in Ocarina.

The fact that I was willing just to stand in the desert and watch the sun go down was a tribute to what a work of art that game was

if you haven't played Ocarina then you obviously won't get the full benefit of moments like these but TP in my own opinion is the best video game ever created. Ever.

i agree with what you said mostly but i think that as Ocarina was such a big step up from LttP i prefered it...

TP was amazing and one of the best games i have played but it just didnt have that elusive thing which would make me love it and i think that was innovation. This is probably coz i played the GC version and not the Wii however i have also found from my friends they ones who played TP before Ocarina prefered TP and vice versa...

and they're far from suffering due to lack of exclusives, this link shows that the ps3 has about 1 million more consoles than the 360 this year, remember that it wasn't released in europe until febuarary and was in limited suply in the US and Japan until feburary too. and it was alot more expensive. with the price cut, their sales will only get higher. i don't want ANOTHER console war argument and i'm not going to bother conparing the consoles again. but you should know the facts before saying the ps3 is suffering (and it has alot of exclusives if you actually look)

okay it has quite a few exclusives i was just saying out of the games you point out (call of duty 4, half life: orange box, assasins creed, kane and lynch) are all on the 360 as well...

i dont want to get into a console war argument either and i understand people have different tastes and opinions and i prefer the 360 but thats not to say i wont get a PS3 in the future when a game comes out that i really want (MGS4) and i dont care what people are speculating as to whether this will come out on 360. It won't and it will be one of the best PS3 games around...

I'll also be first to admit that Resistance: Fall of Man does look good but ive heard mixed things from my friends that have it and the same for Heavenly Sword but i will have to play them both at some point...

Finally its good to see that Next-Gen consoles are getting decent platformers. The only good one i could think of apart from Ratchet was Kameo and while its a good game it has its flaws as well.

The PS3 is a strong piece or hardware and it will do very well i just dont think it will win by as big a margin as in the last two generations of consoles. Your thoughts?

Speaking of Zelda, I absolutely hated the Twilight Princess, I spent about 10 hours trying to get into that game and the storyline just became more and more dull.

Yeah, I wasn't as big a fan of it myself. I actually liked Ocarina of Time and even Majoras Mask more than TP. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, I just think the feeling I got with playing Zelda dissipated as I grew older.

The Orange Box does look awesome and great value, just too bad I don't have a 360. I've always wanted to play Half Life 2 to see what the big hype was about.
