    Russell Brand

    Pete Doherty

Met the guitarist from Oasis about a week ago.

    Martin Portillo (MP)

    Alastair Campbell (MP)

Got chatted up by Jade Goody's ex last week :xmassrudolph:

Um....chatted to and went into the singer Paul Young's house (he was recently on some cooking programme over in the UK but he sung that song 'Wherever I lay my hat, that's my home')

    Boy George

The singer Tracy Chapman (was backstage at her concert..didn't even know it was her concert)

Seen and chatted to a number of people who were on 'Big Brother'...

..that's all I can think of right now.

Oh, my ex played in a well known pop/indie-ish band from the 90's, they played Glastonbury...but then who hasn't???

edit: Forgot the thread's title was 'Rock stars/musicians' you've met. Oh well!

    editt: And Glen Matlock.

  2. I was quite a fan when I was younger. I went to one of their last shows at Wembley without Geri--I liked it. My mum knew Baby Spice's mum and aunt so I got both Emma and Geris autograph. I was psyched :tongue2:

  3. Er..I know this probably isnt the right thing to crack a joke about. But I dont listen to the Stones, so I dont really know who Amy Winehouse is...but let's be honest, isnt it a bit ironic to be a drug-addict and have your name be Winehouse?

The Rolling Stones and Amy Winehouse are seperate. The Rolling Stones is a band fronted by Mick Jagger and Amy Winehouse is a solo artist. You probably know more Stones songs than you realize..

  4. I saw her waaaayy back in the day before she was hooked on drugs and booze. Her family live near me--I see her mum about every now and again. My friends Amy has known her since primary school--they're not on mega-friendly terms, but they'd always stop to chat and say hello as they have the same name, plus, my friends' parents and Amy Winehouse's parents are matey. Anyway, 'cos of all these connections, I was invited along to a charity do at our local golf club--held by the Winehouses. If I remember correctly, someone very close to them had cancer and they were raising money for treatment. At this time, her first album was out in stores and doing well. She (reluctantly) got up on stage--she didn't really want to but her dad insisted, so she had to. I can't remember what she sang, but I remember thinking she was very good and that she had a unique voice. She gave it her all. She didn't have the beehive hairstyle either. I remember reading that her most recent performances weren't up to scratch due to her being intoxicated or obviously strung-out on something. However, apparantly she's doing well now. She was pictured today in the 'London Lite' in McDonalds looking well-fed. So, good news all round--hopefully she'll get on stage soon and blow everyone away.

  5. "Moonlight Mile" ~ The Rolling Stones

"I got the blues" ~ The Rolling Stones

    "Every night youve been away

Ive sat down and I have prayed

That youre safe in the arms of a guy

    Who will bring you alive

Wont drag you down with abuse.......

And I've got the blues for you

And Ive got the blues for you

And I'll bust my brains out for you

And I'll tear my hair out

Im gonna tear my hair out just for you

If you don't believe what I'm singing

At three o'clock in the morning, babe, well

I'm singing my song for you"

"Say a little prayer for you" ~ Aretha Franklin

"Bad luck blue eyes goodbye" ~ The Black Crowes; He misses her, but knows he should not be with her.

    "Aqueous transmission" ~ Incubus

"Lover, you should have come over" ~ Jeff Buckley (of course)

  6. Led Zep--Whole Lotta Love----from The Song Remains The Same----never heard a spontanious jam and brilliant guitar work to this day----IMHO-----Gotta let that boy Gotta let that boy BBBBBBBBoogie!!!!!!!

That's the best rendition of that song, it just flows with so much ease.

So, that's at Madison Square Garden? I've looked it up on google video but can't find it.

  7. From British newspaper, The Telegraph:

The legendary rock band Led Zeppelin are planning to play a huge comeback concert at the O2 arena, the concert hall housed in the former Millennium Dome.

According to reports the supergroup, who disbanded 27 years ago, are in talks with the owners of the 20,000 capacity venue to stage a spectacular one off show at the end of the year.

Speculation has been rife that the three surviving band members, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones had been planning to perform their greatest hits at a memorial concert for the late Island Record boss Ahmet Ertegun.

Now it looks like they have chosen the venue.

No official confirmation has been given but sources have confirmed they are in talks with the owners of the venue in Greenwich, south east London.

A source said: "The talks are ongoing but it looks like a definite possibility. Nothing has been finalised but fingers crossed the most anticipated comeback concerts ever could become a reality."

    Story:

God....Imagine how much those tickets would go for on ebay! It was in The Telegraph and that's quite a credible newspaper. I hope this happens!

  8. I bidded for 2 Incubus tickets on ebay today for my friend. She's paying for both of them and has offered the other to me--without me needing to pay her back! So, I'll be seeing Incubus on September 29th at Brixton Academy.

I'll be going to see a guy I know play in his band plus a few other local-ish bands. Oh, and I'm recording, writing and I may be directing a video for a guy I know as well--as he's a solo artist!

  9. It's lucky I won tickets to see them tomorrow than, if this is the case :xmasssanta:

I agree with what's been said--they'll probably do a 'farewell tour' and that'll probably go on for a long time; this tour's been going for 2 years!

  10. For some reason, I've always been moved by "Hand in my pocket" by Alanis Morissette. Although, I think that's because I listened to it during a difficult period of my life and it makes me think about a special someone.

A few off of the top of my head:

"Whipping post" by the Allman Brothers is really raw. Makes me want to force emo bands to listen to it to show them how agony should really be sung.

"Heavy Load" by Free is beautiful. His voice is perfect. "Oh, I wept" is also exquisite.

the acoustic version of "She talks to Angels" as well as "Bad luck Blue eyes goodbye" by the Black Crowes are lovely. As is "Sometimes Salvation".

There are lots by the Rolling Stones, including: "Angie" "Wild Horses" "I got the blues" [which has the lyrics "Every night you've been away/I've sat down and I have prayed/ That you're safe in the arms of a guy/Who will bring you to life/Won't bring you down with abuse"] "Shine a light" [with the lyrics "Angels beating all their wings in time/Smile on their faces/And a gleam right in their eye/ Ooohhh thought I heard one sigh for you"] "You got the silver" ["Hey babe, what's in your eyes?/I saw them flashin' like airplane lights.."]

Chris Whitley's version of "Spanish Harlem Incident" causes me to come over all emotional. His voice is soft and I think I want to be the gypsy girl he's describing.

"Don't let the sun go down on me" by Elton John.

"An American Trilogy" by Elvis Presley.

"Fields of Gold" by Eva Cassidy. Fuck, that's sad.

"lover, you should've come over" by Jeff Buckley. No explanation needed.

  11. Aren't they amazing??! I won tickets to see them last August and I can still remember certain things from ti really clearly; like, when Mick sung the opening lines of 'Sympathy for the Devil'. That day last year was mind-blowing--everything about that day was just perfect.

They're playing their first London show on the 21st--fingers crossed I'll get passes!

  12. Well, that song didn't do her any favours. Regarding the Sid Vicious quote, I remember reading somewhere that an interviewer was giving her information about the Sex Pistols--just a brief overview--and told her about Sid Vicious. In her next interview, apparantly, she said that quote.

  13. Emo and punk-pop singers who sing in that nasal tone.

I know exactly what you mean and I concur. I also dislike:

    **Avril Lavigne

    **The Killers

**Keira Knightley (or however you spell it)

  14. I've actually downloaded this song and I have to hand it to her--it's very catchy. I'd even go as far as to say I like it. Her voice is a bit squeaky, but after a good few listens you don't notice it.

And I agree with whoever said she looks good painted metallic.

  15. In no particular order...

    The Rolling Stones

    (original) Guns N' Roses

    (original) Led Zeppelin

    Hendrix

Stick some Black Sabbath, Queen, Metallica, Robert Johnson and The Black Crowes in there too. I'd pass out :shades:

  16. I Respect Your Feelings As A Woman And A Human

I Couldn't Afford To Buy You A Present (So I Wrote You This Song)

    Waterfall Wishes

In My Heart There's A Star Named After You

    :rofl-lol:

Seriously, there's too many, but I found these funny.

  17. Meh, he doesn't really do that much for me. Credit where he's due though--he's capable of coming up with catchy songs.

Hmmm people (I don't mean people on here) have said he souds like Freddie (which I agree with) but don't seem to have a problem with it. That then made me think of Wolfmother--that people call them a Led Zep/Sabbath rip off and pick on that quite a lot--in a negative way. Yet not so much with Mika and I'd say he sounds more like Freddie than Wolfmother sound like Led Zep or Sabbath. Just an observation.
