That one it's dated 1/31/2020 bellow in the first page too! That's not the real Mexico setlist, that's the Super Bowl Music Fest one, it has the same order as the show with DTJ being played after Dead Horse unlike the Mexico show.

I can't say for sure if it was a real setlist because I'm not in the band or management but I'm still inclined to believe it's real, it has all the new rehearsed songs.

I was talking about the real setlist for the Super Bowl gig. As far as I'm aware, there are no photos of the Mexico setlist.

  2. That setlist isn't from Mexico, it's dated 1/31/20, which would land on the Super Bowl Music Fest gig.

Also, it's fake, here's the real setlist from that show, taken by a fan at the gig.

Some other points to debunk the setlist:

    • It's missing the pyro-stars, although those are not always there.
    • "You're Crazy" doesn't have "(slow version)" in brackets.
    • "Double Talkin' Jive" is written as "Double TALKING Jive". Other setlists I've seen has it written with the apostrophe.
    • "Hard School" is written as "Hard Skool", which is odd, why'd they change that when in November 2019 it appeared as "Hard School" on the setlist?
    • The songs, compared to the actual show, aren't even in order.

In 1989 Chris Weber briefly reformed Hollywood Rose (with new members, of course) and recorded some demos, so probably this is where these songs are from, as Weber sold all the original Hollywood Rose demos to Cleopatra Records (which released the "Roots of Guns N' Roses" album).

Wasn't a full album demoed? I recall hearing about that.

    Great work cheers

Do you guys have a transcription of a release that came out called Appetite For Conversation? I had a cassette of it years ago, it was an interviewer talking to Slash and Duff, pretty bad audio but funny conversation during the AfD tour I think. ?

Cheers. My bad. Too early this morning! I own it, can't believe I got mixed up!

Oh, yeah, it could actually be that one as well, totally forgot about it. It was also played in the background during the Makin' Fuckin' Videos - Don't Cry DVD.

That version is labeled as "Live" when it's even lesser live than the one with a fake crowd.

That was my initial thought - however it doesn’t say ‘live’ like the other versions?

Yeah. I've noticed on some single covers the song is labeled "live", while on others, it's not. It's pretty safe to assume it's the Suicide outtake whenever SOYL is mentioned pre-2018—seeing as it's the only official release of SOYL before the Rumbo Recorders version that appeared on Appetite 2018.

I note Shadow Of Your Love is on there.....i know the conspiracy theorists think he version on AFD Deluxe has had recent overdubs (I personally don’t) but makes you wonder - is this the same version or a different one?

Most likely the "Live From the Jungle" EP version. The same version has appeared on versions of the "It's So Easy", "November Rain", and "Live and Let Die" singles. I assume it's just one of the B-Sides that usually appear on Best of compilations.

This is what I was able to find from an old HTGTH thread - obviously, the original images are higher res. Sadly, I also lost my original images.

I remember some fan made a high resolution version based on the covers here.

As for the tracklist, Troccoli's test pressing has a complete tracklist:

Something quite interesting, Troccoli found a single CD, different copy on eBay with a different tracklist, track lengths, and "Pretty Tied Up" is spelt wrong. This particular copy is dated 11/10/2005, and Troccoli's copy is dated 1/26/2006 & 1/30/2006 so the tracklist has been changed around a little bit.

  9. UPDATE: "We were supposed to rehearse Thursdays." [Tracii Guns, Ultimate-guitar.com, 2017]

I'll update this list as I get more research done.

(Likely dates are marked using italics)

A timeline (my interpretation by reading Raz's book and piecing together history):

1985.03.xx - First-ever GN'R rehearsal [Mates Rehearsal or WillPower Studios w/ Ole - This was somewhere after Hollywood Rose's March 7 gig] [Kevin B tape, Don't Cry excerpt leak].

1985.03.14 - Second GN'R rehearsal [WillPower Studios, the band took a bunch of photos after this one, w/ Ole. If the previous rehearsal took place at WillPower, this rehearsal could also be where the Don't Cry excerpt leak is from - the only separating factor of the two is the studio].

1985.03.xx - Third rehearsal is scheduled by the band minus Ole.

1985.03.xx - Ole hasn't responded for three days so Izzy suggests they bring in Duff.

1985.03.20 - Izzy teaches Duff material at home the day before the rehearsal.

1985.03.21 - Third rehearsal takes place at WillPower Studios with Duff [Raz Recording - possibly only rehearsed songs used in KPFK Interview].

1985.03.21 - KPFK radio interview [Ad from March 22 in L.A. Weekly confirms it aired Sunday March 24]

1985.03.xx - Duff and Izzy go through more material at home [Possibly the rest of the setlist for their debut show].

1985.03.xx - Fourth rehearsal before first-ever GN'R show. [Possibly rehearsed all songs this time, as Duff has learned all the material by now]

    1985.03.26 - GN'R plays the Troubadour.

I doubt Raz would just skip the supposed rehearsal without Ole in his book, Raz is a big fan of Ole's and I'm sure he'd also mention that the band rehearsed without him and his feelings towards Ole at the time.

Raz further explains that the bassist switch happened very hastily:

    (Quotes are in chronological order)

    Quote

Raz Cue: "After three days of no one hearing from him, and rehearsal scheduled for the following evening, Izzy said, 'If Ole doesn’t want to be in the band, there’s a guy who lives across the street from me who’ll do the show.'"

This is where Duff and Izzy went through material at home.

    Quote

Raz Cue: "the next night, Izzy showed up to Wilpower Studios to introduce Duff Rose."

This is where the 1st rehearsal and KPFK interview takes place.

    Quote

Raz Cue: "With only enough time for two rehearsals before the debut show [the previous one and a future one], Izzy taught Duff most of the material at home, and everything got tightened
up at high decibels inside Wilpower Studios [second rehearsal w/ Duff]."

This is possibly where Duff and Izzy went through even more material at home in preparation for the show.
This is where the 2nd rehearsal with Duff takes place.

And, finally they play the Troubadour.

    @zombux

Rehearsal #4 was the first with Duff. They didn't had a bass player for Rehearsal #3 since Ole was absent.

I also suspected that they rehearsed without a bassist, but after reading Raz's book, it seems like they brought in Duff before the third rehearsal, as Ole wasn't responding at all and after three days of no response Izzy brought in Duff and Ole was basically fired.

"After that second practice, another rehearsal was set for a tentative 'in a few days.' Ole neglected to tell anyone of his newest girlfriend, so when the next practice got scheduled, there was no way to get ahold of him. After three days of no one hearing from him, and rehearsal scheduled for the following evening, Izzy said, 'If Ole doesn’t want to be in the band, there’s a guy who lives across the street from me who’ll do the show.'"

"With only enough time for two rehearsals before the debut show, Izzy taught Duff most of the material at home, and everything got tightened up at high decibels inside Wilpower Studios"

So, unless you count that session with Duff and Izzy at home, there's only four documented rehearsals.

What’s the tracklist on this? Just outta curiosity.

Probably the same as the tracklist for the CD on Discogs.
