In all honesty, this is probably what is holding it up. The artist has to record the song and then mix/master it, which takes a decent amount of time and endless correspondence between the artist and the engineer. Add a label on top of that and it takes even more time. Not to mention artwork, distribution, graphics/lighting for live performances, negotiating promotional deals, social media promotion, etc. Even though we've been constantly led on by the band, these things take time and a lot of hard work.

I firmly believe that they've had the songs ready to go at the start of this tour and are just biding their time until the US tour to play them out. My prediction is that they drop Perhaps in the next few weeks and take advantage of the hype to promote the tour.

    What are you smoking?

Other bands are capable of doing this no problem. All of that could have been figured out before they started touring.

The perfect time to release songs to promote a tour... Would be before a tour! Not wait till it starts and debut it live.

I never understand why OMG is always mentioned as a possible song to release. It was already officially released. In 1999.

Updated demo that Ron worked on in 00s

    Appeared on MSL CD2 tracklist

    Soundchecked at Rio 2011

Was on 2018 setlists but never played

Lyrics on screen for some reason during YCBM on 2021/22 tour

That's why it is speculated to be a possible rerelease candidate.

I mean, with A-list photographers shooting the band, Perhaps being sound checked and The General showing up on the set list pics (and also likely soundchecked in bits) it’s insane to think we may be on the cusp of an album type release right? That’s for fans of other bands, yes? 🫣

I doubt we're on the cusp of anything. If we get two new songs and one of them is Perhaps, Atlas, SoG or OMG then that would be an incredibly nice surprise.

I know we think we can see The General through that setlist photo. I think it looks like that too. I still don't believe it until I see it clear on a verified setlist photo.

And even then I won't believe it's coming until I hear a soundcheck for it or it releases.

Perhaps seems like a lock though. Would expect that no later than end of 2024...

Sorry that this isn't 100% on topic, but is there a good resource for learning more about the ChiDem sessions, the track selection, etc? I'm a long time casual fan, newer hardcore fan and have always been fascinated by what the fanbase knew in 1996-2007 about the album. I know Atlas was swapped for Catcher pretty late in the game, but I'm curious how much was known about the other unreleased songs at the time. Was everyone expecting Perhaps, Hardskool, etc to appear on an album? Were some songs brand new knowledge when the album dropped?

Chinese Whispers on GNREvo and crawling through the news archives of HTGTH from 95-2008 will provide a solid primer on the saga.

However knowledge and info that came to light after those periods is harder to come by. Appetite For Discussion is another good source to browse.

guess they're just making the ultimate pain train out of NR, KOHD, YCBM and Wichita played back to back, so they can make all the people take a toilet break. Then, the refreshed and relaxed crowd will hear Perhaps.

For a festival crowd... In what world are three of their biggest songs in NR, KOHD and YCBM a toilet break?

GNR are on tour now. How many things do you think they can do at once?

You know Axl will want the tracks to be perfect so nothing will get done while they are touring out of the country.

Besides who cares? Every GNR song they have including covers still matters and still rocks.

I expect as someone who has a net worth of hundreds of millions of dollars, no children, no traditional 9-5 job and who basically can have every want and need in his life taken care of for him that he should have the time.

all I'm saying, to clarify, is that I think there is still a chance that Axl will release more Chinese era material, maybe even a full album's worth of it eventually.

clues are that Gn'R is still active, we know that there is a version of CD ll which is complete, Axl did release Absurd and HS not too long ago, and he also didn't come out and say that he intends to never release music ever again. I don't think it's a marketing ploy to not say anything and my guess is that Axl doesn't want the Gn'R catalog's last release to be HS.

technically, there's still time to do even more than that, but my realistic hope is at least to hear the rest of CD ll someday. I'm not sure about anything when it comes to Gn'R so not sure that they won't release anything ever again either. Axl is still too unpredictable to actually know that.

GNR still existing isn't a clue.

Not too long ago... It's been more than 18 months and we're only 3 months away from Absurd's 2 year anniversary.

Axl hasn't talked about releasing music since 2016.

Technically there's still time do anything and this band technically excels at doing nothing.

When they released Absurd and Hard Skool almost everything was excited because we thought yes! This is it, this is going to be the launch apd or at least slow roll out of the rest of the CD vault.... then we realized the peak of their ambitions was releasing a Hard School single + many months late lyrics video. Since then the man in the top hat has spoken numerous times about more songs just being a few months away... then nothing happens. The last update on that front was October, it's now 7 months later and nothing has happened and nothing has been said.

Hey so I was just watching an old Slash interview again - The MTV in the pool interview from '96 - He talked very positively about the situation in Guns and with Axl himself, which always struck me as to how could things have deteriorated so quickly if things were seemingly moving in a proper direction, but besides that, my reason for mentioning this is that Slash had said between himself, Duff, and Axl, there were 80 songs that could be potential material for the next album. Just crazy to think how quickly things changed and how in a matter of months to a year GnR went from 3 original members with "supposedly" 80 songs to a completely new band with only 1 original member and a clean slate of material, which still to this day, nearly 30 years later, has only produce 16 officially released tracks.

17, you forgot Oh My God. Still crazy.

I can’t believe there’s people on here who thought that searching a song name and GNR coming up in the results surely meant that an album is coming. The algorithm really got y’all.

You just gotta keep believing 😂

For real though, if they don't deliver some new music next year then I'm done. Wouldn't have this expectation if they hadn't talked about it.

If CD era redid AFD imagine if Axl convinced this lineup to rerecord CD. Im not suggesting it's going to happen of course.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a rerecorded Better with Slash, Duff and Reece on though. That song always seemed like it was given to new people coming in as a sort of homework track. There's a DJ version a Ron version and that's not counting Better gone. Then when the NITLT era starts surprise surprise the whole intro has been reworked to largely include another new member at the time in melissa.

On the leaked list of candidate tracks for CD there was titles like Better2, ChiDem2, OMG2 etc... I've wondered for awhile if the version of Better we hear now was reworked by Duff and Slash or if that rework had already been done

If the band were to dissolve, I wonder if CD2 would ever see the light of day.

I think CD2 and any acknowledgement of that 98-14 era of the band will only happen when the band and Axl's camp are comfortable. Right now it seems like the way they mostly want to play it is to not even mention it. Even when Slash and Duff talks about the leftover songs it's "some stuff Axl wrote along the way" instead of "music that was written during the CD years with that lineup".

A live video for "You Could Be Mine" (AWESOME!!!), we got a "live collage" with costume changes. It is misleading, and it has always been.

No it isn't. It was said in the press release that there was a live music video for YCBM that plays on the menu for the Bluray. That is what they released. And it having clips from the whole show makes sense for something that is going to play on the menu of the Bluray for the whole show.

You're going to get the full performance of YCBM without it being a collage when the Bluray is released.

There's plenty to be frustratated with this band for, but this ain't it. Jeez.
