Better, YCBM, and yes, SCOM could all go.
In fact, there seems to be this idea that there are songs that absolutely have to be always played. I would agree with this only as far as two songs go: Jungle and PC. Anything else could either disappear for a while or, ideally, alternate with something else. I understand KOHD, NR, and SCOM will probably be always played – but the band wouldn’t go bankrupt if they alternated it because 50% of people would stop attending their shows in such case. Bullshit. They’ve had shows in the past (old Guns) where they didn’t always play these songs, and all was fine. They didn’t lose any fans, in fact, they gained new ones. I’ve said it here before – they started UYI tour playing previously unheard songs, they even opened their first show with a new song – they had the balls to do that in none less than Rio.
"Better" should go immediately. Why doesn’t Axl choose something else, more suitable, from CD? This song is heavy on raspy vocals, and this way it sounds abhorrent. There are those "cleaner-approach" songs, like Prostitute etc.
And as for SCOM, YCBM – what would happen if they dropped it for a while? At some point, with the new album out, the playlist will have to be heavily altered anyway, so why not start now? Does Metallica play Nothing Else Matters at every show? No. Do Deep Purple play Child in Time? No way. Have they lost fans because of that? Fuck no!
They could change the playlist heavily and alternate it like they used to 4 years ago. Suit it to Axl’s current vocal form, not to some bullshit notion of casual fans’ expectations. Keep doing it the way you have, the casuals will eventually get sick of it, and you’re screwed (and then Nando will suddenly start visiting this forum again).
Even the beginning – does it always have to be ISE/Brownstone/CD/Jungle? It’s like they’re not making any effort whatsoever, just running idly.

There are loads of possible alternatives they could do:

Dead Horse – Shadow of Your Love – You’re Crazy (AfD) – Nice Boys
The Seeker – Down on the Farm
Bad Obsession – Pretty Tied Up
Nightrain – Out ta Get Me – My Michelle
Civil War – Yesterdays – Estranged
    Patience – Don’t Cry
Used to Love Her – You’re Crazy (Lies)
Coma – There Was a Time – Locomotive
    Chinese Democracy – Shackler’s Revenge
    Madagascar – Sorry – Prostitute

    And so on!
I hope something like this will begin as of March.

Sweet Child is GNR’s biggest song of all time, and the song that really pushed them to the next level. I’d deem it even more necessary than Jungle or PC.

That being said, I wouldn’t mind if it was never played again.

I've been reading a lot on the comments on GNR's 2020 comeback and how disappointed people are over the fact of not having anything freshly new already..

This is gonna take a lot of time, to hear new official songs from this line-up.

I think we should be grateful that at least songs like Locomotive, Dead Horse, You're Crazy are back on the setlist.

We must not expect any miracle. If not, we will definitely be disappointed..

Enjoy as it is. And if not, then don't go to the show. No one is putting a gun on your head to buy a ticket.

Express your opinion if you want of course, but be rational not just type a bunch of negative statements just for the sake of it.

    Yeah, thanks man.

I don't know what the problem is to get some hopes up. It's okay if they let us down yet again, no big deal, it's just a band.

But there's no need to downplay other people's expectations. You all have it too, no matter how much you say you don't care anymore. This thread (and several others) wouldn't be this long if we really didnt care at all.

There’s a difference between “caring” and “getting hopes up”.

Advising other people not to get their hopes up is fine to do, honestly. Especially if you know better and have been down the same road a million times.

I personally think the album or any recording is done. I think the band have a different agenda to what UMG do in terms of promotion and releasing. Discussions have stalled either because the band as a whole, or UMG or just axl has issues with how it should be released and cant or wont make a decision.

I really wouldn’t bring anyone into this besides the band themselves. No company is going to stop them from releasing anything. What could they even want to do that GNR doesn’t? Nowadays a label is just a fancy distribution service anyway. It’s not like they have full control over everything that happens.

Only people to blame for not releasing music is the band themselves, and their management. The whole “issues with the label” and “it’s because of the nature of the industry right now” is all just meaningless.

Any band or person can release any song they want at any time. Artists do it. Every. Single. Day.

Slash and Duff release albums for days and then suddenly, they’re in they’re main band and it’s like “How do we do this???”

When they caption that they're about to drop some fire, it's probably a reference to Slash about to take the stage in the image. They know what they are doing by playing with ambiguous words though.

    Then again...

    (Here comes some optimism)...

They are going to start touring at the end of the month, and if the rumours of a 2020 release are true, the band will need new material for promotion. It is not inconceivable that they would release a single to kickstart the tour.

    Yes it is.
