  1. The guy has released 2 songs in 14 years.  It's obvious he doesn't give a shit about the hardcore fanbase.  Lots of legacy acts release new music solely for the hardcore fans and tour the greatest hits for the general audience.  And lots of legacy bands like the Stones, KISS, etc actually have an extensive catalog in the first place.  GnR have basically 4 studio albums of original material in 35 years.  He is haunted by the ghost of Appetite for Destruction and knows he will never top it, so he fucks around with mono room tones and Silkworms snares for 20 years while the housekeeper and the pool boy blow smoke up his ass as if Riad and the Bedouins is some grand artistic statement.

I think the thing is that this band is basically a legacy band but they don’t want to admit it. Kiss is at least pretty upfront about what they are these days. Same with other bands that have gone on this long. Axl and the band like to be vague about it to pretend like the band has a creative future, but they realistically have no plans to release anything besides a single here or there that takes almost no effort. They’re in their 60’s, it’s over. If a new album was going to happen it would’ve happened by now. All we can do is pray we get a few more drip fed singles of CDII and that’ll be that.

They’ve been a legacy band in my eyes since the first Vegas residency. At least when Chinese first came out they played lots of new stuff, there was promise of a follow up. Once they hit the casinos and whored out more old songs I knew it was over. Now with Slash and Duff back they’re using the old logos, rehashing the same setlist, there is no forward movement.

This sounds like something someone would write on another popular message board.  You sure you arent him? Ever hear of 74 YO Alice Cooper? album (always good) almost every year, tours non stop.  Fans of bands want to hear new music, its why we like them.  There is nothing to defend.  GnR are happy doing the same tour until it stops making money.  Nothing wrong with that, I just hate being insulted with the non stop excuses that every other band deals with, and is able to release music

Alice Cooper is amazing and is always putting new music out there. Even if he only plays one song during the tour for that album, he knows the real hardcore fans want to hear new original music

what were the terms? just money, or maybe he wasn't into it from the start, playing the old catalog and wanted to move forward and for Axl to release CD ll, another album with his work on it? cause when Slash and Duff came back maybe the thought was that they were just going to do like a victory lap for 5 years which they did.

Doubtful it was about playing the old songs because that’s basically what New GnR did except that small window when the album first came out and they loaded up the set with Chinese songs. By the time of the Vegas residencies they were peddling the same old shit.

The director and crew didn't know when YCBM was gonna be played because GNR didnt have a set setlist, so they rolled cameras the entire time.

I don’t really buy that unless they did actually say that. They were probably hired to do the full show. Because there’s obviously more than one camera angle in the original YCBM video and they only performed the song once, so they used other parts of the show to cutaway to

Which is why I love when all of the GnR haters talk about how they only had one good album and that the Illusions sucks and so forth ... Mostly all of the Illusions were old songs they wanted to get out ... So praising Appetite while shitting on Illusions shows these people are nothing but DOUBLE TALKIN' JIVES

Yeah and the well has been dry for 30 years. They probably haven’t written a full song since 1990

  7. It’s hard to watch this thread. They should call the next album, Use Your Delusion.  I want a new album so bad from these guys but it ain’t happening. We’ve gotten to the point where we’re grasping for straws. It’s also a little disheartening the TWO ‘new’ songs since 2008 were ones hardcore fans already heard. It’s like punishment for the leaks but also makes me feel “do they really have much else left?”. .

i like Hard School and actually really like Absurd (the original 2000 version even more) but the fact they chose these 2 as the first big new music singles leaves me to believe they don’t have much left in the tank. Because I never understood this “oh they’re saving the big guns”.  It’s just a weird mentality, like, “hey these songs are OK but don’t worry! They’re not our best ones!”  Like way to strive for the best

Might have something to do with this:

“4C4 Media, who filmed Guns N’ Roses’ first reunion show at the Troubadour in April 2016, is not happy with Guns N’ Roses. They said the band wouldn’t hire them to film at Dodger Stadium, and when the cheaper production people they hired screwed up, GNR wanted their help.

They wrote on Vimeo, “thank you…and then when the big money shows came around,,,they didn’t even take our calls and then agreed with tour promoters to use their in house people (always cheap) hired a company for Dodger Stadium who brought in a “FlyPac” to record the show. A FlyPac” is what news outlets use to do live shots from intentional distentions. Occasionally they are used as switchers for multi-camera shoots…3 cameras at most. (Dodger Stadium???? Three cameras..????) The Production company called me when they knew they were in trouble..,it was my time to not pick up the phone, Fuck them.”
