So if this is any consolation, Victoria Justice and Olivia Rodrigo have singles coming out Friday, hitting the streaming services midnight EST. Maybe Guns will indeed surprise us with it, ala “Absurd?” I know Hard Skool went up whenever it was midnight in the respective time zone… maybe THAT was the one-off? In any event, I’ve been having a 💩 day so far, so “Perhaps” would be nice… but I’m not holding my breath.

I guess at the end of the day, we know that Perhaps is coming… The Linktree wouldn’t have been activated NOW all of a sudden if it wasn’t in the cards. The question is, when?

What keeps me optimistic is that the link was always a draft… we were never supposed to stumble upon it… and yet it still had a specified release date. Makes sense for the draft to be down now, but it’s up to TPTB to launch the official page…

Thank ya for confirming! I know “Absurd” was weird in that it dropped at midnight EST, and whatever time that was in the rest of the world… but if we are following the HS model, and NZ DOESN’T have anything to report by the time it’s midnight on Friday over there, then it’s likely “plans changed.”

What was the first country/region to report Hard Skool being uploaded on Spotify? I think it was NZ, cause I remember waking up that Thursday morning here in the US (NYC specifically) and seeing all the posts about HS with the locker art and an audio rip of the song from Spotify. Then, that Friday at midnight EST, they posted “Hard Skool is F’n’ here” and the song was up.

Does anyone else have a screen grab of this happening? Nothing on my end, but I’m checking on my phone.

Wonder who their “internal sources” are, and if the other media outlets that already reported on Perhaps for 8/11 will catch wind of this.

Yeah, is there a link to this article too? Considering the band never formally acknowledged the 11th, I think it would be a little odd for them to acknowledge a postponement of a date we weren’t supposed to know about anyways. I’m getting that vibe too now.

You’re probably right. Those honestly are probably the ones they decided were optimal to rework, and it would make sense given Slash’s earlier comments about having a couple more to go. I think they’re foolish not to release it in the EP format, and forgo this trickle-down nonsense, but hey, “new” music is “new music.”

Yeah. That’s what they did with Hard Skool, I remember there was a show the Wednesday or Thursday before it officially released, and everyone was like “WTF” when it wasn’t played again. Then that Saturday, it made its live debut. Axl even mentioned it as their second new song out on “all your streaming services” and made a wise crack about the theme being “lower education.”

Okay, I really don’t wanna add to the whole Spotify thing… BUT, GNR is showing in top results for “Perhaps,” “The General,” AND “Atlas Shrugged” for me in the US right now. Tried “State of Grace” and “Eye On You” for good measure and nothing… I would LOVE if Perhaps actually turns out to be an EP… maybe this gives some credence to the idea, maybe not… but it is a wee bit strange.

Officially one week out Of course I’m hoping “Perhaps” has launched and is part of the rotation by then, but considering the last time I saw them live was in 2017, I’m still pumped for the new/new-ish setlist additions and the chance to hear those live for the first time (Bad Obsession, Pretty Tied Up, Slither, Hard Skool, Anything Goes, etc.)

The specificity of the release date makes me think this is it. Since the fandom has been tinkering with the link for quite a while, maybe we just so happened to stumble upon the test they were more than likely trying to keep under wraps this weekend. I’ll bet dollars to donuts the artwork is gonna be the magic 8 ball, similar to how “Hard Skool” had the locker and “Absurd” with that weird Medusa thing. The fact there is even some artwork/theme for the song is also very promising and to me more evidence of an imminent launch.

If the powers that be postpone it AFTER creating the beta, securing a date, and creating hype around it (articles already being written about the expected drop), there’s gonna be a lot of pissed people… I always try and give them the benefit of the doubt (even going to see them next week), but man, this tug-and-pull gets annoying after a while. Also soundcheck today will probably be quite revealing… if anyone gets the inside scoop on that. 😁

I think the stuff over the weekend was beta, and the countdown will officially launch after the show today. If I remember correctly, “Absurd” made its live “debut” at the second show of the 2021 tour, and then the studio version was released after the third show. There’s a show today and then on the 11th (the date mentioned on the test site from UMG.)
