Ashba a never recorded with Guns. Although he did work on a few remixes and studio versions of his two guitar solos.

3 solo's, 2 of which leaked. Ballad Of Death, Mi Amore and La Bella Vita (the one that didn't leak) it is however pretty clear he recorded it as he once posted a video of himself playing it to a backing track which sounded production wise the same as the other two

I stand corrected looks like it did leak

They would have to rerecord the entire CD album as Melissa, Duff, and Slash were literally not a part of Guns N'Roses when Chinese Democracy was released. 💡

That is possibly more likely than a brand new  album of new material. It's likely there may be a recorded version of Better with slash Duff and Melissa I think.

There are a few versions of that song. Back when we found out about the Ashba version and the BBF version I wondered if Axl had used it as a sort of homework track for new people coming in to see what they have to offer. Given that it's the most reworked of the CD songs by the 2016 lineup it wouldn't surprise me if there was a studio version with that new intro somewhere.

    Question for native English speakers:

As a non native speaker, although I think I have adequate comprehension skills in English, I sometimes look up a word or expression, even if I think I know what it means, to make sure I fully understand what is being said/written.

So when Slash said (in the recent Classic Rock interview) that a new GN'R record has been "on the books" for a while ("and should start coming together"), I looked it up, e.g. here:

    on_the11.jpg

    on_the10.jpg

But I saw that everybody in the other thread interpreted it as been "planned" or "thought about", and I was wondering if it could mean what one of the definitions in the dictionary says

It's not about getting hopes up or anything like that (I don't do that - and I'm generally neither optimistic or pessimistic), just a genuine question :)

It's a weird choice of phrase for what he is talking about. You would normally hear the term in business. For example if you had a company and i was "On the books" it would mean I was employed by you, in the sense that my name and details are in your company's paper work and documents ect.

In the context it's used here though I agree with @janrichmond. It's another way of saying what he has already said before. I wouldnt read too much into it.

Not a boxset but maybe a TSI reissue/remaster or whatever with a couple of bonus tracks maybe.

I can’t recall at the moment but was there anything left off TSI besides the studio Godfather?

    Beer And A Cigarette

“We're talking about doing a Hanoi Rocks tune...” SLASH Guitar World Magazine February 1992.

A Hanoi Rocks song recorded for The Spaghetti Incident album, removed so as to deny royalties to Andy  McCoy because they felt he was too much of a “Prick” to deserve the royalty money. Andy McCoy has  accused the band of plagiarism and that the song Paradise City is made of riffs taken from several Hanoi  Rocks songs. He believes the chorus is a slowed down version of a riff from Lost In The City.

In 1994 Slash had this to say in Kerrang...

“We did a Hanoi Rocks tune but we decided not to put it on the album because we didn't wanna give Andy  McCoy ( former Hanoi guitarist ) the money! McCoy's an asshole! The basic track was done but we never did any vocals for it.” ( Slash Kerrang NO.485 March 12, 1994 )

    Down On The Street

A cover of an Iggy song that was intended for the Spaghetti Incident. Slash had this to say in 1994

“We recorded a basic track on Iggy's Down On The Street. But we didn't finish that either, we stuck with  Raw Power it just sounded cooler. Iggy knew we were doing the Stooge's tun. I talk to Iggy all the time  anyway, he's a good friend. He was happy that we were doing anything in the first place, so that was  cool”( Slash Kerrang NO. 485 March 12 1994 )

Yeah, I liked his piano in the Rocket Queen solo on the last tour. He was high in the mix in 2001/2 as well, the organ in SCOM comes to mind.

Yeah the organ section on the bridge is on the rerecorded studio version as well, works really well. Maybe one day the full version will find it's way out there.

You understand the entire purpose of filming that concert at the time was to make a music video for YCBM? It was never intended for us to see it all, as a full show, like other bands full filmed shows intended to be released officially, as a full concert... 30 years later we are lucky we even got to see it lifted from the vaults in the first place, and re-used for that purpose, since it's incredible footage. Since there's 0 piano in the song it's pretty understandable to me that the camera guys focused on members you actually hear on the song because they needed as much footage of them as possible to choose from.

    This...

They were not really going to set up specific shots of him for a music video of a song he isn't really on. On a side note I noticed Dizzy was very high in the mix on live shows at the start of last tour and it actually worked on some of the AFD stuff, cant see how it would on YCBM though and obviously they, and probably he thought the same when it was recorded.

A new song. And it's pretty bad lol.

Very formulaic & boring. Video is awful too. Nice guitar tone at least but the song is just meh....

A book is forever, a podcast or tv show is not.

An autobiography would be for the fans who would gladly invest some time into reading it, instead of having a podcast on in the background or watching a tv show after work. Some things are worth your time.

I would be devastated if they split tomorrow. Well, maybe devastated is a strong word, but I would be very sad at least. I still enjoy the shows, as do many, many people.

I don't mean a one off podcast where he is a guest for an hour or so. I mean a situation where he has a recurring podcast, some episodes just him others with guests. An episode with Izzy ect. That would be very interesting although a book would last forever I get what you mean.

  9. Garcia missed weight by over 3 pounds for the Haney fight. No idea what he's going to do tonight, could quit on stool or just walk out of the ring. The guy clearly needs help and shouldn't be in this fight at all. Pretty sure he has been on the coke too

lol wtf he actually won it

Instead of a BOOK, wouldn't say a 3 hour TV  Interview where Axl tells all the  major details of his life be more realistic in 2024? 💡 Books aren't really the hot commodity they were say when Axl was around 32. In 1994, Books were highly popular. In 2024, Books have been declining in popularity for a VERY long time. Scream 4 even said,"No one reads anymore!" And Scream 4 was filmed in 2010 and released in 2014,  9 and 10 years ago. 💡 I could see a three hour TV Interview going REALLY well for Axl, a BOOK, I don't see going over all that well in 2024. 💡

Tv is probably declining in popularity more. What would be great is if he just did a podcast.
