I downloaded someone's Globo TV rio in 720p on YouTube and edited for a video with just Estranged (also in 720p, but obviously reencoded):

3.) Did you play for an hour and a half in front of an audience, in a strange country, not knowing for sure you were going to play the song, while learning how to play with 6 other guys and a living legend of modern music, and then try to play it?

4.) I prefer DJ's re-doing of it compared to the stuttering-never-resolving nonsense of Robin Fink.

This is a real setlist from 2006. It looks very similar - font, words, shortenings, markings... but I'd still say this new one is fake.

Sway by The Rolling Stones. TWAT was played in '06, so it stayed on the options list the whole tour. A lot of people think If The World and Prostitute are listed because the former was the basis for a jam on the tour, and the latter was Axl's piano solo before November Rain.

Doesn't make sense to have Prostitute listed only because Axl used as an intro to November Rain. And I never heard those jams that supposedly served as basis for If The World, people say that without any kind of real source. From the jams I heard (and I heard A LOT) on bootlegs, there's no such a thing.

IMHO, it was pretty clear: back then, the band were still going with Merck's promise that Chinese would be released by the end of the year, so they were already rehearsing new songs for it. Of course that didn't happen, but they were ready regardless.

As I said, he IS in Brazil already, just not in Rio. Dont believe any gossip you read on the internet.

Axl isnt in Rio, but he is in Santos (Beta's home town, not that far from Rio)

Ya know, I don’t really know. There is a bunch of stuff that was left over from the last record that didn’t make it because it wasn’t finished. But I’m not sure if Axl has been working on that stuff or not. I would be inclined to think that he probably has been. There’s definitely, I mean when we made the record, there was definitely two full records worth of material there at least. A lot of it’s really good, so maybe he’ll get around to finishing up some bits and singing and stuff like that. That’s kind of where it’s been left at.

I don't believe we'll have a new album untill late 2012 at the earliest or even that we'll get a new song or two in Rio, but this interview does give me some hope that we may see this CD era songs afterall.

Its still available on iTunes, isnt it? And its likely the easier way to have the album anyways (I know about audio quality, Im talking about regular audience, not hardcore fans).

IMHO, the issue you guys were getting on the YouTube stream is because of the huge audience. I dunno how it works on YouTube, but maybe they didn't think it would be so viewed.

Here in Brazil, I've been usually watching the internet feed on Globo.com and the main band on TV. The stream works fine with a few hicups specially in the begining. It has pixelation too, but I don't think its as bad as the YouTube issues you're talking about.

But the audio seems mono. I didn't have the chance to check if the HDTV broadcast is also mono, but I sure hope not.

This is obviously fake, but we'll have the setlist leaked a few hours before the gig because the band needs to give it to the TV crew. It happened in 2001, we knew they were supposed to play Sossego (and I was like WTF?, haha).

As far as I know, the sound (even on HDTV broadcast here in Brazil) is just regular stereo, no surround 5.1. But yeah, it will sound good and you'll be able to listen to the bass properly. You really should try.

RHCP gig had a pretty awful soundmix. Most of the time the guitar was so low in the mix that Im afraid people will think its the new guy's fault.

At least it will be like 2001: Tommy will be audible again!

GloboHD should be streaming in 1080p, or at the very least 720p.

This is going to be the best quality Gn'R bootleg to date.

There's no 1080p in HDTV, just 1080i.

And really, as far as soundmix, the Katy Perry gig now sounds really bad. I'm really pessimist about it.

And yeah, like I said earlier, Ill record it, I just dont know how to put it on a PC in a usable format.

What are u guys planning to do about recording the concert?

It will be fully broadcasted on YouTube and 2 TV's here in Brazil.

I will be at the show and recording this in my Cable TV, but it's like impossible to export to any video formats.

I know we had Download (not entire set), Rock in Rio 2006 (crap soundboard recording), Rock Am Ring (short set) and KROQ (it was a webcast) in 2006, as well Leeds 2010 (just four songs), but this is gonna be the first time GN'R has a full set of soundboard/proshot since 2001!

I'll record it too, just in case, but I'll also try to catch the streaming.

Historically, the sound mix in those proshots are awful. Hopefully it will turn out better this time.

If it's on TVstations (any of the HD?) someone will record it, and if it is recorded and stored digitally, there is always a way to get around the issue of getting it exportet to a computer and then converted to a commen format.

No, it's a codec problem. It is in HD (1080i), and its not actually a recording, but the storage of the original TV broadcast signal in the set-top box hard drive. In many cases here in Brazil, the way those devices stores the file is with the regular H.264 codec, but audio isn't always AAC, thus making it hard to have sound on it. At least that's what I read in some message boards about HDTV.

But there are some set-top boxes and/or HDTVs that can record the files and make them useful on a computer. Also, there's always the PC - TV cards that can do it just fine. Not my case, tho.
