afaik, it's not confirmed what guitar Slash used in the studio for the track. maybe someone else knows, but judging by the way it sounds, I agree it could be just a LP.

I think it was maybe always assumed that Slash used the B.C. Rich Mockingbird just based on live performances and the music video.

Yeah, I know. At the same time, the BC sounds very different to my ears, at least in a live environment.

It's strange he's playing it with a Les Paul if he does remember. He always changes to the type of guitar he recorded the songs with, like on YCBM for example, where he changes also.

I may have asked this before, but are we certain that he didn't record YCBM at least partially with a regular Les Paul? The studio version doesn't seem to have tremolo bar attacks (besides the feedback in the intro) as far as I can hear. The leads seem to sound like regular LP to me, and those harmonics in the bridge could be just him pushing the neck against his body.

Bad Apples holy shit they really played it. Been waiting for GNR to play this forever but this is the next best thing better than never hearing it in any capacity live. I wonder if Slash remembers he recorded Bad Apples with a strat, that was the first thing I noticed when watching that performance, he probably does not remember much of 1991 lol.

Doubt he forgot about this. He must had to listen to the song again to even remember how to play it, and he would notice the different tone there, especially on the intro.

I thought his reply was interesting, particularly about the primary residence. I have heard of him having other properties but was never sure how accurate it was, so that makes sense from a legal standpoint. I did still think Malibu was his primary residence though. That said, it doesn't sound like he has been there much recently so maybe he has been laying low long term elsewhere. Everyone knows the Malibu address, I could understand him wanting a different address that is less well known.

Maybe the constant fires there had also be a reason for him to move out.

That’s what I meant with the quotes. I wouldn’t mind them either but this part is ridiculously long and the music way to good to get buried underneath ’em.

I think of the quotes as being part of the lyrics.

I was kinda joking about Madagascar lyrics, but my main problem with the song is how the chord progression - which is already very, very basic - is reused for the whole song. I know it's all about the layers and different arrangements, but I think the song would really benefit with a new section with different chords.

Monsters - this could be a great song, but it needs new parts OR at the very least it needs a new chorus, that part stinks! completely off putting change that doesn't fit with the rest of the song and the vocal melody is so... well, it's just so blah! I'd actually remake Monsters and have the verse with regular Axl and then the other verse where he goes demon Axl, and build an entirely different song either side of each verse, this could be an interesting Mygnr project!

Have to agree. The chorus is really what brings this song down to me. And it's also repetitive.

If GNR ever tours again and Steven is not available I wouldn't mind having this guy on drums. I doubt he's gonna do it for a tip though, this is world class drumming right there.

Steven remains first choice though, no one plays GNR drums like him.

Nothing against Frank, but I always felt he'd be a better fit (and more appreciated) in another band.

Sugarfoot is too good for this band.

Michael Voss posted on his Facebook page that the mix for all 3 new Schenker projects is over (New MSG album, UFO cover album and live album). IMO I think Axl and Slash possibly will be on the UFO cover album rather than the new MSG album. Either way I think it's cool to have a track with totally new Axl vocals after all these years.

We could also have Axl guesting in an album and Slash in another.

nicknamed "shank" by Axl, Bumble once pulled a knife on a dude that refused to pay Bumble what he was owed for his work. When the bullying by Tommy and I guess maybe some of the other guys to a lesser extent got silly, Bumble made some threats that it could turn violent if they didn't stop giving him shit and then I think they stopped giving him shit.

I see. Didn't know this was a NY style.

Toss in the fact that Ron's a tough "New Yorker"-type personality (which he openly admits I'm pretty sure), and the clashes were probably inevitable.

What does this mean? I think Richard lived in NY back then, so at least he would be more used to this style.

DJ is a nice dude, he may not be cool or look lame with his outfit, he is talented and an easygoing dude.

Strongly disagree about him being talented.

I just don't understand why the damage would make Brian more raspy, but Axl less raspy.

I think it's like when you smoke a lot and your voice sounds like you're a washed up and tired old Donald Duck. In Axl's case, it would be a different damage, more to do with his vocal cords not stretching as much just because he's older.
