I've always wondered why Axl always sings the chorus in Paradise City like "Take me down to the paradise city, Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty, Oh WON'T YA take me hooome'' instead of ''Take me down to the paradise city, Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty, Oh won't YOU PLEEEASE take me hoome/'Take me down to the paradise city, Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty, TAAAKE ME HOOOOME''

I've always wondered why he started singing it over the intro guitar solo too. Shhh Axl, that solo is so cool, let we hear it damn it!

I pointed out that it was an opinion because some people like to pretend everything they say is a fact ;)

Well, it's their problem then, not yours. Unless they start their post with "THIS IS A FACT AND NOT AN OPINION" I don't see the need to point out that a certain post is just an opinion. Of course it's an opinion, this is a discussion forum. :)

But like I said, his opinion was very valid and based on solid facts.

Then according to that logic, which I dont agree with.. But for argument's sake... What we have now is just a continuation of Axl at the helm, and Duff and Slash rejoining, but with a bigger percentage?

Well, it seems like it. Course there were adjustments. One less guitar player, One less Pitman... DTJ and Coma return. But aside from it, the shows sound and look just like the eternal CD tour, unfortunately. Even DJ's tease before WTTJ is still there. lol Slash.

I think the three of them are doing their best to take advantage from all of this. Axl wouldn't fill stadiums with NuNuNuNuGNR. Slash wouldn't headline Rock in Rio with Myles, Duff was more known for his books than his music prior to the reunion. They don't have to tell the press anything that happened behind the scenes. They don't have to make 30 seconds of new music to sell a ticket. It's such a comfortable situation for the three of them.

Seeing Axl and Slash together again was cool and the best thing to happen to GNR since 93. But things are just wrong. Their recent big announcement was just as pathetic as any fiasco of the NuGNR days. Axl's voice is just as bad as it's been since 2011.

And no, asskissers, don't worry. I'm totally fine in my personal life. Not writing this from a basement either. :)

Just wish they had the balls to do something different. Slash and Duff simply accepted their roles as Axl's employees in some kind of hybrid GNR/NuGNR. I wouldn't mind much if Axl could at least still sing. But he sounds like shit.

It's really simple. If Axl doesn't play Chinese Democracy songs, he basically invalidates the last 20 years of his life. It's essentially an admission of failure on his part and acknowledgement of his gutting the band for a vision that was ultimately rejected by fans, peers and music critics. That is a monumental ego blow, especially for someone as thin skinned and hubris heavy as Axl.

Hence, the 3-4 Chinese Democracy songs at every show. Look it could be worse - he could add Rhiad or Scraped to the setlist. Count your blessings folks.

Yep. And since Slash and Duff are not interested in piss off or bother Axl, they will play it (Slash is clearly uninterested in doing more than random shred in them though). They all make money. They all go home happy.

CD songs are covers just like KOHD, LALD, Seeker, etc.

Wrong. Had there been an issue from 1998-2014 with the use of the name there would have undoubtedly been major court interference. It happens all the time. In this case, even Duff n Matt stayed in the band for a period after Slash left. Then Duff and Matt eventually left and Axl had to get new members The band continued  and the lineups changed. This is no different than the evolution of bands like Van Halen, Journey, Black Sabbath, etc.

GNR was finished. Axl started a new GNR entity with Slash and Duff as employees and they left. You can't deny GNR, the original band, ended by the mid 90s.

A new project also called GNR, with Axl as the sole leader, was created with no fixed lineup but musicians hired to play and/or tour for Axl. It's completely different from the bands you mentioned.

If only one member has the power to decide when, where, what and how to make music, I think it's fair to call it a solo project. You don't call Elton John a band do you? How about Bruce Springsteen? Is Bruce Springsteen a band? Nine Inch Nails? Current Marilyn Manson? Are they bands or solo projects? Why do you call Axl's GNR a band if it didn't have one single characteristic of what a band is?

Now let me go back to listen to this band called Buckethead. He is a band, apparently.

The reason is clear as shit, deep down y'all already know why they keep playing this. This CD record is registered under the names of Guns N Roses, and by legal status is valid and can be called as Guns N Roses album.

Yep, it says GNR on the cover, it was Axl's record. Axl is still the boss. Slash and Duff want money. They will play the CD songs. That's it.

There's no other reason than Axl trying to validate his solo years and Slash and Duff ok'ing it so the reunion can move forward so they all can get more money.

If they had any artistic drive inside them, reunion would've kicked off with at least a new single. They have no desire other than playing their hits, some covers and making Axl happy.

Are they wrong? Well, we all work for money right?

Is it a little frustrating/embarassing? Yes, it is.

  7. Random GNR thoughts:

I haven't listened to a GNR song in months.

I haven't listened to a full GNR album in years.

I miss the NuGNR days a bit when they would deliver fiasco after fiasco and there were several jokes going on in here.

I honestly don't mind Melissa in the band. Think she's cute and talented, something Pitman could only dream of being.

I miss enjoying GNR but I simply lost any good feeling I had regarding the band.

When someone says you can't notice Axl's clean voice being at the concert I simply don't believe in that person. The difference is just too clear to go unnoticed.

Jokes at Melissa being labeled sexist 99% of the time and posts getting deleted because of it annoy me a lot. Pitman was bullied all the time here and didn't get any special treatment from the forum admin. Just don't see the difference between joking with a man and a woman, we are all equal in my view.

    And that's your opinion. :shrugs:

Of course it's an opinion. Why did you feel the need to point that out? It's a very valid opinion by the way. Knowing the band GNR was ended in the mid 90s and then Axl started a new project also called GNR with a bunch of hired musicians, it's very valid to say CD is not a GNR album, in the sense that it's not the same band that wrote and released AFD and UYI but a project lead by Axl, also called GNR, with hired musicians and with one release under its name. It has GUNS N ROSES in its cover? Yes. Gilby Clarke could release an album called AFD 2 but we all would know it's not really AFD part 2, right?

Oh dear God. Not the "Izzy underserved loot" discussion again.

If Izzy requested a lot of money to do just a number of shows instead of doing the whole tour, which is very likely knowing his history, I wouldn't blame Axl, Slash and Duff.

IF (big if) he was up to do this whole touring cycle and got rejected then fuck those three.

Deep down I have a feeling Izzy wanted lots of money to do whatever he wanted. It's just a guess but seems like a very possible scenario. And things became ugly to the point he won't do any guest appearance soon.

There's a difference between saying that this sucks and expressing disappointment and saying that GNR is the worst, that Axl/Slash/Duff/GNR Management are the worst people, and that being a fan of this band is pointless.

There's a difference between creating hype to announce something really amazing to a frustrated fanbase and overhyping the adding of more shows to an already announced tour.

The negative reaction is proportional to the size of the fuck-up they just made.

I knew it was more dates so I'm not frustrated. I'm perplexed by how idiotic they can be by creating hype to announce more shows. It does make GNR look like the worst. It does make look like the Axl, Slash, Duff and TB are awful people and with the lack of any sign of new music, for some of us, being a fan is pointless.

It's a shame you can't understand this. It's a shame you can't understand that this is a place for fans to talk about the band not meaning their lives are affected by it. If you wanna mock people with empty lives, go to depressionforums.org and give them your best. Even if people here had an empty life and GNR was big part of their lives, there's no reason to use this to mock them. At least you didn't mention the old "get out of your mother's basement" one. Very common among Axl fanatics.

What an awful string of posts from you, man. Have to say I'm not surprised though. There's some brown on your nose bro, clean it up.

  11. This is a GNR forum. If people are upset about GNR, guess this is a good place to talk about it.

There are many other bands, sure. But this is the GNR section of a GNR forum. Saying someone's life is empty because he's talking negatively about GNR in the GNR section of a GNR forum is kinda douchey.

There's a certain indirect censorship going on in this thread and it's much more annoying than those complaining about new tour dates.

And even when you try to speculate what could happen, you get a handful of people that tell you you're a moron

Well, if you speculate about anything besides tour dates, you're kinda are a moron. Sorry bro.

I hope this new leg supports a new album coming out this summer

If you're disappointed now and hope for a new album, I can only imagine how disappointed you'll be this summer.

I disagree... but i respect your POV. How would your view change if GNR released a new album with CD leftovers and just slash and duff putting on their parts. Axl has elluded to this. Would you then think that Slash and Duff didn't record a Guns N Roses album, but rather a pre 2016 Axl album, and thus not consider it Guns N Roses?

I think Slash and Duff are core GNR members and it would be hard to disregard the album as just another Axl album.

I for sure wouldn't like it. It would be a Frankestein album just like CD. Vox from 99, Brain on drums on choruses then Frank plays the verses... then there's a Pitman synth solo and Slash and Duff just fucking around over it. That would certainly be a hybrid GNR/Axl album and it certainly would suck. But it would be mor GNR than CD for sure.

One last question here as I refuse to go in circles.

What offends you so much about GNR carrying on post 1994? Seriously. I think that is what intrigues me most. I mean Izzy had no problem joining them countless times on stage. Duff saw no issue with it and even opened for GNR with his band, then toured with GNR after to fill in for Tommy. Slash sees no issue playing GNR songs he wasn't a part of. So if these guys were able to not only recognize it, but participate in it without caveat... What makes it so difficult for you as a fan to come to terms with the fact that GNR continued on and recognize it.

I'm asking a serious question so i'd really appreciate an honest answer.

Nah, it's alright. I'm just saying that Axl's band is a solo project and not GNR. That's it. He got the name and took total control of the project. This is not how a band operates. That's all I'm saying. That's why I keep asking: If this is a band and Fortus is a member, will he announce a new single in a talk show? Will he be in the cover of a guitar magazine discussing the songs he wrote for a future GNR release? See? That's all I'm saying.

GNR broke up in 1994. Axl started a solo band using the GNR name. In 2016, Axl, Slash and Duff reformed GNR. They play Axl songs, they might play a VR song... They enjoy doing covers.

What do you do ti make it feel better when GNR plays chinese demeocracy , better, this I love, or any of the other CD songs they perform nightly? DO you plug your ears and pretend the big bad chinese democracy songs go away?

I think it's a great gesture from Slash and Duff to cover those songs. After all, Axl said they're his favorite songs. Better is a good song but Axl sounds like shit on it, all the others are crap so plugging ears is not a bad idea. I wish they would remove all the CD covers and other covers from the setlist.

Slither is in their setlist so they all agreed to cover each other's solo songs. Too bad Slither is yet to be played. But it's a VR cover. CD, Better and TIL are Axl's songs, not GNR songs.

And I'm not sure how you attempt to dispute facts that state Fortus is indeed the rythym guitarist of Guns.

1.) It's in the album Chinese Democracy liner notes

2.) Axl, in interviews, speaks of Fortus and everyone as band members- not touring musicians.

3.) The brochure at concerts states he is indeed in the band.

But disagree with facts, that's fine.

    1) Chinese Democracy is not a GNR album so this is pointless.

    2) Axl says a lot of things but let's stick to the real world here. If Fortus is truly a band member, when do you think he will announce GNR's new single? Yeah, thought so.

    3) Well, Chinese Democracy's cover has GNR on it but it's not really a GNR album. It's cool from the band to not use the term "hired/touring musician" to describe Fortus' role. He's been playing FOR Axl for years now, it's understandable. But like I said, let's stick to the real world. When will Fortus go to Jimmy Kimmel discuss the 30 years of AFD? Will he be part of the next meeting with Team Brazil to decide what's next for GNR? What do you think?

Regardless of everything you said, it's pretty obvious Richard is a hired touring musician. In the Dead Daisies he writes, plays, releases, promotes and is free to talk about their plans. He is a member of the band. In GNR he's a hired session player so all he does is cover Izzy's parts live.
