  1. I guess if Best Buy does nab an exclusive, they can wait a lot longer to make the release announcement because they don't have to go through traditional venues of release...I reckon it might be a bit faster to put something out through a single retail outlet like Best Buy. :shrugs:

This is exactly what I'm thinking to myself as I rationalize a release as the days pass us by. Let's hope you're dead on here.

  2. I did go to the library and read that a number of years ago, but I need to read it again to fact check because, interestingly, I was reading a number of interviews with Max Roach where he was saying that although he and Miles will always be close, Miles must have been "going senile," or "through some bout of dementia" when he wrote the book. Haven't found a definitive biography that seems to be an objective look at some of the claims raised in the book either.

I read some other books too, that refute some of the stuff Miles says.......but for some reason I believe Miles version more.

I mean if you have read the book he tells All the "dirt" about himself.......why would he try and make-stuff on others.

He admits to being a crackedhead, alcoholic, womanizer etc etc.

Some of that definitely did shade my view of him as a person (perhaps unjustifiably so), but I did appreciate his brutal honestly. I have given him the benefit of the doubt for many years, as I have to assume he was being as truthful as he possibly could be (or at least as truthful as he cared to be, anyhow). Nonetheless, by view of Miles as an artist is one of impeccability. his output is bullet-proof, in my mind.

As an aside to this aside, I love Sunny Day as well, although I admit to not keeping up w/ Jeremy's last few solo efforts...Care to comment on them?

  4. some people here sound bitter, the slip is an awesome album

Or it could potentially be that musical taste is subjective. I respect Miles Davis and enjoy his music almost more than any other artist. If I happen to be in the minority here on that front, does that mean his records are piss poor and that my meter for musical quality is off? Hardly the case.

  5. The least they could do is release remastered deluxe packages of the original records; or they could always provide a commemorative Vegas DVD w/ each purchase of Del's masterwork.

  6. Constantly treading new ground..gotta love it. Innovative move for a world renowned act with the industry clout to really make this a tipping point for a dinosaur of an industry.
