Actually this forum and others proves my point. It's not a bad thing. It's an underground movement.. well actually an internet movement. Rumors and stories sell tickets just like it did in the 80's

I don't think it's productive to insult the people running the band tho. Everyone makes mistakes. Would rather people close to Axl than the money guzzling whores from major record labels. Maybe should change the title of this thread to something less aggressive.. funny as people think it is.. (i laughed) it could be much worse. We might never of seen any kind of reunion with Axl and Slash.

ROFL. Made my day. Thank you.

No, we know that Izzy came to the Project camp and they worked together on new music that Scott refused later. If you have more information rather than assumptions then let me know.

Well, again - you're right. It's an assumption but based on facts. I think there's a picture of The Project with Izzy on vocals (which speaks volumes) in Slash's book with a description going like "working on a song called Snafu". This song later appeared on one of Izzy's records, too. I am too lazy to check but I also think there are mentions in Duff's or Slash's biography (and also in some interviews) that Izzy came in the camp with songs/song ideas/riffs. Vicky Hamilton, Matt Sorum, Duff, Slash and others repeatedly stated Izzy was a great songstarter that was used to come to a rehearsal already with a foundation of a song (basic vocal melody, riff, chorus etc.) in his pocket or with a song that was more or less completed, often including lyrics.

So again - you're right, it's an assumption but I do believe (and I guess I am not the only one) the basic riff for DIFTK/Bomb was written by Izz and VR/The Project developed it into a full song that is very different from Izzy's Bomb.

On the other hand sometimes it's difficult to say who wrote what in the GNR world. WTTJ opening riff is a great example. Slash clearly remembers the moment he got the idea and Duff insists he brought in his old riff ("stealing it" from one of his previous bands). Writing credits don't help here as they don't help in DIFTK/Bomb "case".

No we don't know who wrote the riff. All we know is they both used it. They may have wrote it together...

Well, that's technically true but at the same time we know Izzy came to the Project camp with riffs/songs ideas (most of them Scott refused later as something sounding too like Bad Conpany. VR guys stated this repeatedly plus we know that's how Izz is usually functioning - he comes in with ideas. He's the song starter and always was.

I'd love to learn more about that 95- 97 period of GNR. I always wondered what sings they worked on turned into songs on their solo albums.  I heard Nightcrawler became speed parade.

any ideas as to when slash and izzy wrote Ghost?  I know it came out in 2010 but it could have been written way before that especially bc I think Izzy was mad at Slash for some of the things Slash said in his 2007 book.

how about some of the songs from Duffs unrelated album in 1999?  I'd love to get more insight on this

I think Izzy just plays there and has no writing credit.

On the other hand he has no writing credit on Contraband and we all know he wrote Do It For The Kids riff.

  5. I guess most of you remember the pre-The Project/VR era of Camp Freddy. Duff, Slash and Matt (among others) played together more than once and some really cool videos are still up on youtube. I think Izzy joined them at least once as there's the Jumpin' Jack Flash video of all of them playin together, there's the Mr. Brownstone audio (there used to be a video floating around too but for some reason it disappeared and now only the audio is available). And I know for sure Izzy had one more spot with the actress Gina Gershon, they did Ring Of Fire together. There are some pics from this particular song floating around but I never came across any video/audio. Anyone?

Goal is to interview everyone on this list!

So far Gilby, Ryan Roxie, Gary Sunshine, and Richard Fortus. I did interview Bumble for my first radio job before Chinese came out, but he still doesn't want to come on a GNR-themed podcast. Either way, I have a long way to go to complete this list :)

And the last one will be Mr. Izzy Stradlin. Haha!

Izzy was asked to join Black Crowes, or at least consider it, but he was fed up with bands and declined.

Cool, thanks. But I mean something different. I remember reading something somewhere Marc actually plays on the Pressure Drop EP and is not credited because The Black Crowe didn't like the idea of their new arrival being credited on someone else's record? Or maybe Jimmy Ashhurst mentioned it in some video? Mark's long time friend and collaborator Craig Ross is credited though.

EDIT: Oh, they even discuss it in the podcast (around 24:40 min.). Case closed.
