As a lifelong Slash diehard, I'll admit I was ready to HATE on this album. Weird because I thought WOF was a more than solid improvement over AL with some real highlights, but just thought the whole thing with Myles had more than run its course(putting it kindly). Had been listening to his tracks with Beth Hart recently and wanted him to do something different(from Myles) with the precious time he has left in his career. So didn't even care enough about the release to listen to it until this week. Started in the car and skipped through to small bits of each song and, as expected, was completely underwhelmed and depressed.
Then I decided to give the full album a listen yesterday.--and haven't stopped since. A total 180 for me and still kinda hard to believe. Myles tones it down alot on this and I'm really enjoying him on most of the tracks. Slash brings it as always. That solo on Lost Inside The Girl!
I don't get so many saying there's not the big tracks like on WOF. It is exactly like Slash had described, a shorter, more cohesive album and IMO probably their best. Didn't give it a chance as a single, but even Driving Rain now thoroughly enjoyable.
A couple days ago I wouldn't have bothered seeing them again on tour, but now can't friggin' wait...

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Hate to see Jackman leave, but this was the way to do it. Definitely will catch again and then wait for the Blu-Ray.

Halfway through the campaign. Really good.

That's my problem. I don't want to re-purchase, but damn those 4K movies look amazing.
Yeah, going to be very tough not re-purchasing certain old favorites in 4K and I'm sure I'll grab a few when they get 4K releases. But going to try and focus on new releases I know will look best. Kinda sucks as I always thought my blu-rays looked great(and they do), but now that I got the 4K blu-ray player and some 4K discs and have seen the difference, it's hard to watch the other.
Bet The Revenant looks killer, probably my next target. Arrival when it's out in March...

Just got done watching The Martiian on 4K blu-ray and blew me away. Was shot in 5K and finished in 2K, but still a huge showcase for the upgrade over standard blu-ray.
Going to try not to re-purchase old blu-rays on 4K, but hooked and will buy everything going forward on 4K. The results are worth the extra $$'s and you can usually get good sale prices if you hunt and do price matching...

Got Don't Breathe on blu-ray for Christmas. Can't wait to re-watch it soon!
Got it, too and already watched again twice. The more you watch it, you admire how taut it is in its 88 min run time. Great f'in movie.
Also got the The Shallows 4K blu-ray which is stunning. And Sicario which just flat out kicks ass.

Most reviews say the campaign is the unexpected star. One of the very best in several years.
Picking this up next week...

Exactly. At this point, I don't even need a trailer for a Nolan film. I'm there...

Man, what a disappointment this is. The campaign is alright, but who buys these games for the campaigns in 2016?
I actually loved the Black Ops III multiplayer (I was a total nerd and even Master Prestiged in it, I sunk way too many hours into that game), but the multiplayer here is just so poorly orchestrated. I'm not sure exactly what it is, something I can't quite put my finger on, but it's just off. I think Activision has always made the more "realistic" COD games and Treyarch did the futuristic cartoonish sci-fi angle quite well, but now it's like Activision is trying to keep up with Black Ops, so they carried over all the stuff from BO3 (rocket packs, wall runs, etc.) without any of the grace or fluidity. It just isn't a smooth experience.
It's highly frustrating because it's near-impossible to get any solid scorestreaks, the game constantly spawns enemies right behind you so that you're immediately flanked no matter what you do. I used to routinely go 30+ in BO3 with only a handful of deaths, and I struggle to even go positive at all with Infinite Warfare. The maps are muted, ugly, industrial, totally lacking in vibrancy or colors -- or fun, frankly. BO3 might have been too unrealistic and futuristic for some longtime COD fans but at least it was fun and colorful and imaginative. This game is dreary, muted, depressing.
I dunno, I'm really disappointed so far and I might not really bother continuing to give the multiplayer a chance. I've sunk 2 - 3 hours into it and I find no reason to continue.
Missed this before but your criticisms of IW multiplayer are spot on. The maps(and spawns) do suck and so refreshing to go back and play MWR. Kicks the shit out of IW on every level and that's not nostalgia talking. Almost jarring going from IW to MWR and being reminded how off track things have gotten(at least with Infinity Ward)...
-
They have a rotating schedule with 3 studios(Treyarch, Sladgehammer & Infinity Ward) so there is no reason to have 3 futuristic games in a row. Defeats the whole purpose. That said, we all know Infinity Ward hasn't been anything close to the real Infinity Ward since Vince Zampella and Jason West split and started Respawn, so Infinity Ward and this years game clearly the weak link. Activision knew fans are wise and that's why they packaged the far more desired Modern Warfare Remastered in the Legacy Edition.
Worked for me as I bought the Legacy Edition for MWR and it's such the superior game as you'd expect. Awesome to have boots and the ground again and there is such a gravitas to it missing in Infinite Warfare(at least the multi-player). I will say the Zombie map in Infinite Warfare is fresh and the highlight of that side of the package.
They'll start selling MWR standalone in the next 6 months, but I've seen the Legacy Edition marked down to like $50 for the holidays and it's a screaming buy at that price, so no real reason to wait.
Would KILL for World at War 2 by Treyarch or even a remaster....

They do that on Mexico show and intended for Mexican audience. It's just part of theatrical, a kayfabe gimmicks, nothing harmful.
You just defined pandering to a tee.
So GNR 2016 = RATM Lite?
Embarrassing...

I don't want him to return to rock music or whatever but a little more structure would be nice.
Was totally wanting to dig his electronic stuff and there's a few kinda cool tracks(or parts of tracks). But as you say and he admits, almost no structure. That's intentional as he wanted to get away from structured music as it was boring him.
He's an amazing musician and should do what turns him on. Just too bad it no longer seems to involve guitar...

Tough to compare games from different genres, but would have to say Red Dead and The Last of Us the best of the best. Total masterpieces.

My brother bought it, I tried it now sometime ago, it is pretty good, I played for like 10 mins, I guess it was a racing game and it was an amazing experience, but it did give me a headache.
My brother played for 15 mins and he got a headache for 2 hours.
It makes you Dizzy.
Must be Drive Club. Game reviews have said what you said--graphics only OK(in comparison to PS4 version), but driver immersion awesome.
Almost every reviewer reported the same dizziness and nausea.
Pretty torn on whether to buy that game...

Has anyone bought the PSVR bundle? System reviews have been mostly strong and launch lineup of games looks enticing.
Will definitely be picking this up in next few months, but would love feedback from those who actually have it(ie, not just quick store demos) on ease of installation, immersion and gameplay quality.
Overall impression.

Perfect amount of time between games. Going to be a masterpiece, no doubt.

Huge Frusciante fan. Hate to admit it, but hoping his very costly, recent divorce forces him back into rock as his foray into electronic music has sucked. Sucked bad.
Seriously, time for him to get back in the game. There's only so many times I can keep watching the Slane Castle DVD...

Didn't find the original very intense(so overrated), was hoping this would be better. But guess not. Have no interest in seeing until it's free on movie channels...

Saw it tonight and it was great. The audience I saw it with was a shit, young college audience who ruined some scenes with immature remarks and snickers, but overall I really enjoyed it. Definitely look forward to watching it again.
Yeah, my audience was pretty much the same, but I knew what I was getting with a Friday 10:30pm showing, opening night. Flicks like this especially fun seeing with a rowdy crowd, but always 1 loser or loser group in the theatre.
Russ and Zo, go see it and don't read the reviews before seeing. Best to just go along with the ride. And you WON'T be bored.
Will definitely see it again...

Anyone else catch this this weekend? No spoilers, but really tense with strong writing, direction and cinematography. Becoming a big Fede Alvarez fan.
Conjuring 2, Lights Out, this and now Blair Witch coming in mid Sept. A nice run!

We knew what we'd get with Slash and Duff. Axl was always going to be the mystery factory and frankly I had little to no confidence. Did NOT think he had this in the tank and delivering on such a such a consistent level. As Ronin said, it's not just the voice, it's everything in how he's carrying himself. Nothing but kudos.
The AC/DC gig had to have helped his confidence as well. He genuinely seems to be having the time of his life and this is his most productive period since the early days.
They can knock out a great album, pay Izzy what he's woth and do it. I actually think they will.
Slash & Myles on 'Living The Dream' + new single, writing process, tour plans, tracklist & more.

Agreed.
The big surprise is how much I genuinely dig Myle's vocals on this album. And it's not like I've just gotten use to it--I can't recall the last time I listened to WOF.
I've liked him more on each of the 3 albums, but I actually really do like him a lot on LTD and he seems a great fit for the band. I never felt that way before.
