  1. Having the shortest starting QB in the league throw a slant pass from the 1/2 yard line to the 4th best receiver on the team is indefensible. And the Pats knew it was coming, practiced against it for 2 weeks, hence the great jump on the route/throw.

Still looks as bad now as it did at the time. Worst call in SB history for sure.

Huge step back for Bevell in pursuing head coaching vacancies. And I've been a Bevell guy. He will have to talk through his thought process on that play in every future interview and it's a lot to overcome...

  2. i would take two cracks running the ball with lynch from a yard out over trying to throw in those tight spaces against a very good patriot secondary any day of the week. plus with 28 seconds to go with a timeout the seahawks could still get a third play off without ever throwing the football. they practice this stuff, they practice situations just like this. after the lynch run even if he doesnt get in you are only going to was 4 or 5 seconds. that gives you 24-23 seconds to run 2 more plays. you call the timeout(if lynch doesnt get in i still think the patriots were conceding the score, bilichick did the samething against the giants in the superbowl) and you call your two plays you would have plenty of time to run the plays.

Or if he was going to throw at least do a play action with a roll out as it would have been tough for the Pats with that Defensive package to cover as well as contain Wilson as they would have been crashing the line to stop Lynch. Have to believe someone would have been open or Wilson walks in for the TD. If it fail you still have time for another couple of runs with one time out left.

Exactly. But, no, let's run a slant over the middle from the 1 yard line to the 4th receiver on a very mediocre receiving corp. How many times do you see those types of passes get tipped up and picked off?

Wilson had to be shocked himself when the play call came in. Should've audibled out of it or just run it himself. But coaching staff needs to own this.

    Just WOW...

alot, we have all seen it a million times its why most of the country is still shocked by it. how many times watching have we seen the ball on that play hit off the shoulder pad and get picked, or off the receivers hands or someone make a break and make a big play on the ball like butler did. when youre down in the redzone all passing windows are a so tight that everything has to be perfect which is why it was beyond stupid they didnt put themselves in the best situation to win. like me and CR said(nearly at the same time ) if you feel you need to pass, give wilson an option route where he can have one read and a chance to run you are giving yourself a chance to succeed and an out if you need it.

Yeah, and add in that Wilson is the shortest starting QB in the league and there's even more risk to such a call.

Never been so stunned as when he went back to pass. Still cannot believe it...

  4. World at War was great. Now I just need to explain to the wife why I need an XBone/PS4 more than the baby needs nappies.

Well, if the baby is a boy you can always tell the wife you're doing it for the kid. You'll be playing split screen in just a few years.

  5. 2 point conversion was the most miraculous play of all. Can't stop watching it.

That's Russell Wilson intangibles meeting pure luck. Being in Chicago, brings to mind Jay Cutler could try that play a hundred times with far more pure passing talent and never pull it off. There are winners and there are losers, Wilson was so abysmal yesterday but guy just has 'it'.

The Pats dropped those last 2 close SB's to Giants, but got a feeling they are going to pull this one out.

  6. Russell Wilson has by far the worst game in his career, Seattle has 5 turnovers and GB still can't win. They had an all time gift and opportunity today and blew it.

Shows how wide open the NFC was this year. Detroit coulda beat Dallas, Dallas definitely shoulda beat GB, and GB def shoulda beat Seattle. Cowboy fans have to be feeling even worse than GB fans right now knowing they coulda been in the SB after seeing the Seattle performance today.

Didn't think GB had a prayer today, but if they woulda hung on and Rodgers had the 2 weeks before the SB, I'd like their chances better against N.E. What a devastating loss.

  7. American Sniper - whats your verdict? I've heard good and bad

Just got back and absolutely amazing, I know that's such an overused word, but the movie captures the book so faithfully, much props to Clint, Cooper and everyone involved.

Have no idea how anyone who's read the book could have anything but raves. Gonna win multiple Oscars, deservedly so...

  8. the theory is Murray would be easier to replace than Bryant so you let Murray walk, resign Bryant, and put some money into the defense. Teams seem to find good RB'S in later rounds or even FA's these days.

The 'Boys can NOT let Bryant go under any circumstances and Jerry will get it done. Only question is if they franchise him or sign him to longer term contract. The latter being far more attractive for all, but the $$'s will have to work depending upon who else they need to re-sign.

I'm sure they want to bring Murray back, but that O'line can make a lot of backs look exceptional. Ultimately I think Jones will find a way to keep his 3 Amigos(Romo, Bryant and Murray) intact, but no doubt Murray is the most expendable.

Is Witten definitely coming back or contemplating retirement? He's a huge piece as well at making another big run over the next couple of years...

  9. Dig both, but Tupac deserves his legendary status. So much killer material and very few shit tracks for a rapper.

Sucks we missed out on so much more...

  10. Not gonna lie the Cowboys had their chances to bury the Packers early and didn't take advantage. They screwed up at the end of the 1st half and the Murray fumble was huge. Having said that if people wanna talk about game changing, game deciding calls then reversing the call on the Dez Bryant catch that took away a Cowboys touchdown and essentially a win was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. Dez Bryant catches the ball, lands with two feet in, takes two steps, cures cancer, rescues a cat from a tree, helps a little old lady across the street, his knee touches down(should be down by contact), lunges for the endzone, breaks the plane, ball pops out for a split second and they say no catch? Absolutely horrifc call. And the explanation given was absoutely idiotic. Terrible way for a great game to end.......... Having said that Dallas blew it by not putting the nail in the coffin when they had the chance. Props to Green Bay.
    Go Patriots!

All true. NFL went to total damage control mode on a horrific call, but Dallas should've put the game away earlier.

Seattle is the big winner. They will bury Rodgers & GB this weekend and I can't wait to see it. Not bitter at all.

Cheesehead fans right alongside Notre Dame as most obnoxious in sports.

  11. Name other rock guitarists with more successful solo careers in terms of album sales and concert tickets? I'm waiting.

    Still waiting.

    Still waiting...

Eric Clapton, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix come immediately to mind. Wait no more.
I'm talking about active guitarists in today's climate, the last 5 years. We all know(including the artists themselves) that guitarist solo careers are far more limited in appeal and niche.

There isn't a fanboy alive who would expect him to be outdrawing a brand like GNR(or even VR). It's absurd that it's as close as it is as this point with GNR...

Name a guitarist from the last 5 years with Slash's name recognition then. Slash is rightfully put at or near the top of every greatest guitar player ever list there is for his work in Guns, he should only be compared to his peers. No matter how much it upsets you. And with Axl doing everything possible to destroy any following he has, it is way more than reasonable to expect Slash to outdraw him when he's doing everything he possibly can to be successful.

Not upset at all, I've always preferred Slash in a band and had realistic(ie, low) commercial expectations for solo ventures. If anything, he's wildly exceeded what should be normal expectations for an 80's rock guitarist who for the most part disappeared from the scene after Snakepit...and until VR. Sure he did some cool collaborations and session work, but for most of the general public he disappeared shortly after Guns and for many years.

But to your point which is key--let's compare him to his actual contemporaries. Do you not think his album sales and concert draws dwarf the likes of Morello's Night Watchman, Frusciante's solo career, etc? And was there a fan alive who was expecting Morello to outsell RATM or Frusciante to outsell RHCP? That's just lunacy.

There's no denying that Slash has worked his ass off and has a solo career that, commercially speaking, buries his contemporaries. He's had 3 albums in about 5 years debut on the Top 10 Billboard Chart and I can't think of any other solo contemporaries who have come close to registering once. Other than Morello and Frusciante I struggle to even think of other rock guitarist solo careers making a serious go of it in today's industry...

So that's only 3, 2 of which are ancient and deceased. And the other ancient. Kinda makes my point.

  13. I just did some online research and noticed something really interesting.

Boxing fans tend to rank Tyson at a much higher rating than boxing writers/historians do.

Ring Magazine - the "bible" of boxing - doesn't even list Tyson as being in their top 10.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Fans almost always overrate the most recent guy from their memory, assuming he was better than those before. Especially since it had been a pretty wide gap since the last dominant heavyweight with Holmes never being a flashy fan favorite.

We all know how dominant Mike was during his brief prime, but he was a very limited fighter. Lots of past greats would've given him fits and beaten him if it got past the 1st few rds.
