The best music to get high to. Period!

listen close and dont be stoned

i'll be here in the morning

cause i'm just floating

while your cigarette still burns

your messed up world will thrill me

alison i'm lost

alison i said we're sinking

there's nothing here but thats okay

outside your room your sisters spinning (Hey Thats The EP!)

but she laughs and tells me shes just fine

i guess shes out there somewhere

and the sailors they strike poses

the covered walls answer slowly

with your talking and your pills

your messed up life still thrills me

alison i'm lost

alison i'll drink your wine

i'll wear your clothes when we're both high

alison i said were sinking

but she laughs and tells me its just fine

i guess shes out there somewhere

It's beautiful even if you're not stoned.

Check out the album Souvlaki. It's really just great, from beginning to end. Perfect to fall asleep to, study to, or just chill to.

A lot those shoegazing bands were influenced by My Bloody Valentine who had a brilliant album in 91 called Loveless. I have never heard walls of guitars to the extreme like this album has. Takes about 20 listens to even realize how brilliant it is. There is so mush going on in the songs. This was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the early 90's but sadly to this day there is no follow up album. (sound familiar ?) Another great shoegazer band was Lush. Kevin Shields who was the mastermind of My Bloody Valentine now records amd tours with Primal Scream last I heard. Many people are still wishing for a follow up to Loveless---

Yeah yeah, Loveless... MBV's Isn't Anything is a criminally underrated album.

And even though they were around before the genre grew big, check out the godfathers of shoegaze: the Jesus And Mary Chain. Get their debut album Psychocandy right away. It will kick your ass.

Loveless and Psycho Candy are two of my all-time favourites.

Jesus and Mary Chain is fantastic. I think a lot of the roots of shoegaze go back to The Velvet Underground, actually. Songs like Heroin had sort of a shoegaze vibe to 'em, and Jesus and Mary Chain were definitely inspired by the VU.
